Master reset

Master reset from settings menu

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

 

To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

 

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory. [link step to How to's for Back up & restore]
  2. From any Home screen, tap the Menu menu.png key.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Privacy.
  5. If desired, tap Backup my settings to clear (turn off) the check box.
  6. If desired, tap Automatic restore to clear (turn off) the check box.
  7. Tap the Back back.jpg key.
  8. Scroll to and tap Storage.
  9. Scroll to and tap Factory data reset.
  10. Read the message about erasing data.
  11. Tap Reset tablet.
  12. Tap Erase everything.

 

 

Master reset with hardware keys

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

 

If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys. To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

 

  1. Back up all data on the internal memory. [link step to How to's for Back up & restore]
  2. Turn off Fast Boot:
    1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu menu.png key.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Scroll to and tap Power.
    4. Scroll to Fast boot and tap to clear the check box.
  3. Press and hold the Power key until the Power options pop-up appears.
  4. Tap Restart.
  5. Tap Restart again and wait until the screen goes dark.
  6. Press and hold the Volume Down key and then briefly press the Power key.
    • Note: If the tablet vibrates when the Volume Down key is pressed, release the key briefly and try again. When there is no vibration, briefly press the Power key.
  7. When you see the screen with the three Android images, release the Volume Down key.
  8. Press the Volume Down key to highlight Factory Reset.
  9. Press the Power key.
