Drivers for computers

To download and install drivers for a Windows computer, follow these steps:

 

cannot do both. If you want to use your computer to access the memory card, you must turn off tethering.

 

For Windows computers, you may need to install the HTC driver before you can tether. To install the driver, download it from: http://www.htc.com/us/support/wildfires-tmobile/downloads/.

Mobile hotspot via Wi-Fi

Set up mobile hotspot

To set up or configure a mobile hotspot over Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu menu_key.png key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wireless & networks.
  4. Tap Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings.
  5. If desired, enter a new Router Name (SSID).
    • Note: If necessary, tap Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot to clear and turn off the feature. Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot settings cannot be changed when the feature is turned on.
  6. If desired, tap the security drop-down box and select from the following options:
    • None
    • WEP (128)
    • WPA (TKIP)
    • WPA2 (AES)
  7. If desired, enter a new password.
  8. If desired, tap Manage users to change the number of users who can connect to the Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot at one time.
  9. When finished, tap the Back key.

Turn on/off mobile hotspot

To turn on or turn off a mobile hotspot over Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu menu_key.png key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wireless & networks.
  4. Tap Portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

Tethering via USB

To share your mobile data connection with a computer over a USB cable, follow these steps:

 

  1. Install the tethering drivers (above) if necessary.
  2. Connect your USB cable to your computer and then to your phone.
    • On your phone, a pop up window appears.
  3. Tap USB tethering.
  4. Tap Done.
  5. Select one of the following options:
    • Windows
    • Mac OS X
    • If prompted on a Windows XP computer, click Next to install the driver software viathe Found New Hardware Wizard. If necessary, click Browse and navigate to MyComputer or My Documents, then click Next.
    • If prompted on a Mac OS X computer, click Network Preferences to set up the Android phone network interface. Click Apply.
  6. Your phone is now sharing its mobile network data connection with your computer over the USB cable.
  7. When finished, disable tethering and then safely disconnect the phone from the computer.
