    Learn how to check the software version and see official versions for the LG G2.

     

    Beginning April 14 - May 22, the LG G2 Android 5.0.2 / Software D80130b software update will be available via OTA and manual pull down. This optional update will be gradual and randomly made available to all LG G2 customers.This update provides features and improvements:

    Check the software version

    To check the current software version, follow these steps:

     

    1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap System settings.
    3. Tap the General icon to display that tab.
    4. Scroll down to 'SYSTEM,' and then tap About phone.
    5. Tap Software information.
    6. Read the version on the phone, and check it below:

    Other versions

    Your phone has non-T-Mobile software, and it is unsupported. The manufacturer and T-Mobile cannot update your software.

     

     

    Requirements to update

    To be able to update to the current software version, the below requirements must be met:

    • Currently on D80120g
    • 50% or higher battery life
    • Available memory (File size is 617 MB)

    You can download and install the software update:

    From the phone

    From a computer

     

     

    Update software from the phone

    To check for updates and download the update from the LG servers, follow these steps:

     

    1. From Settings, tap General.
    2. Tap About phone.
    3. Tap Update center.
    4. Tap System updates.
    5. Tap Check now.
    6. Follow on screen prompts.

     

     

    Update software from a computer

    To download updates for your phone and install them using a computer, follow these steps:

     

    Prepare the phone

    • Fully charge the battery.
    • Save any important data before updating the software on your device. Any data not saved on a micro SD card or PC may be erased (contacts, images, etc.)
    • Remove the micro SD memory card.
    • Close all open applications on your computer before proceeding with the update.
    • Ensure device "Mass storage only" mode is NOT selected.

     

    Install device drivers

    In order to connect your phone to your PC, you must download and install the latest driver to your PC. Download the device driver from http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/TMUS_Update. After the driver has been installed, restart the computer.

       

    Install LG Mobile Support Tool

    In order to update the software on your phone, you must download and install the LG Mobile Support Tool to your PC. Download the LG Mobile Support Tool from http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/TMUS_Update.

     

    Connect Device and Start Update

    1. Connect your phone to your PC using the USB cable included with your device.
      • Do not tap "Turn on USB storage" on your phone screen.
      • Do not disconnect the USB cable until the update is complete.
      • If you experience errors, ensure "Mass storage only" is not checked, check USB connection, or try another port.
    2. Click Start Updating in the LG Mobile Support Tool.
    3. When update is complete the LG Mobile Support Tool will display Update complete.
    4. The phone will turn off then turn on. Once the phone is powered on, the LG Mobile Support Tool will display the current software version. It is now OK to disconnect the USB cable from the phone.
