Backup & restore: LG G2

    Learn how to back up and restore apps, contacts, photos, and data on the LG G2.

     

     

     

     

    Back up data

    This procedure creates a backup file on your device, but it will be erased if you perform a master reset. You must back up the file on a computer using the steps below. To back up your apps, contacts, or media,follow these steps:

     

     

    Android 4.4 KitKat

     

    Back up apps, contacts and media

    1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
    2. Tap LG Backup.
    3. Tap Backup.
    4. Select the check boxes for the following options:
      • LG Home screen
      • Personal data
      • Media data
      • LG apps
      • Downloaded apps
      • Settings
    5. Tap Next.
    6. It is recommended to choose SD card for Backup location.
    7. Tap Start.
    8. Tap Done.
    9. If backed up to Internal storage, connect USB cable to the phone, then to a computer.Note: If necessary, install the PC program by tapping Ok during installation pop up screen.
    10. At the Select USB connection method screen, tapMedia sync.
    11. On the computer, click the Open device to view files using Windows Explorer folder or else navigate to and open the phone’s disk drive and navigate to the desired folder.
    12. Navigate and open the LGBackup folder.
    13. Locate the file with today's date.
    14. Cut or copy and paste the file from your phone memory to your computer.
    15. When finished, safely disconnect your phone from the computer.

    Android 5.0 Lollipop

     

    Back up apps, contacts and media

    1. From any home screen, tap Apps.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Scroll down to 'DEVICE,' then tap Backup & reset.
    4. Tap LG Backup service > Backup & restore.
    5. Tap Backup data, then select the check boxes to backup:
      • LG Home screen
      • Personal data (contacts)
      • Media data (media)
      • LG apps
      • Downloaded apps
      • Settings
    6. Deselect check boxes of content you do not want to back up.
    7. Tap Start.
    8. When 'Complete' displays, tap Done.
    9. If backed up to Internal storage, connect your phone to a PC using the MicroUSB cable attached to your LG charger.
    10. If prompted, select Media sync (MTP).
    11. On the PC, open My computer.
    12. Right-click the backup file (ending with .lbf) and select Copy.
    13. Right-click location to save backup file to on computer.
    14. Paste the backup file to the PC.

     

     

    Restore data

    To restore backed up apps, contacts or  media follow these steps:

    Android 4.4 KitKat

    1. Connect USB cable to the phone, then to a computer.
      Note: If necessary, install the PC program by tapping Ok during installation pop up screen.
    2. At the Select USB connection method screen, tap Media sync.
    3. On the computer, click the Open device to view files using Windows Explorer folder or else navigate to and open the phone’s disk drive and navigate to the desired folder.
    4. Navigate and open the LGBackup folder.
    5. Locate the file(s) you want to move from your computer to the device internal memory.
      Note: The file name is the date you performed the backup.
    6. Cut or copy and paste the desired file(s) from your computer to the LGBackup folder.
    7. When finished, safely disconnect your phone from the computer.
    8. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
    9. Tap LG Backup > Restore.
    10. Select backup file from list.
    11. Tap Next.
    12. Review the warning information, and then tap Start to confirm.
    13. The device will restart.
    14. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
    15. Tap LG Backup > Restore.
    16. Select backup file from list, then tap Next.
    17. Review the warning information, and then tap Start to confirm. The device will restart.

    Android 5.0 Lollipop

      Note: If necessary, install the PC program by tapping OK during installation pop up screen.
    2. At the Select USB connection method screen, tap Media sync.
    3. On the computer, click the Open device to view files using Windows Explorer folder or else navigate to and open the phone’s disk drive and navigate to the desired folder.
    4. Navigate and open the LGBackup folder.
    5. Locate the file(s) you want to move from your computer to the device internal memory.
      Note: The file name is the date you performed the backup.
    6. Cut or copy and paste the desired file(s) from your computer to the LGBackup folder.
    7. When finished, safely disconnect your phone from the computer.
    8. From any home screen, tap Apps.
    9. Tap Settings.
    10. Scroll down to DEVICE,' then tap Backup & reset.
    11. Tap LG Backup service > Backup & restore.
    12. Tap Restore from backup.
    13. Select backup file from list.
    14. Tap Next.
    15. Review the warning information, then tap OK to confirm.
    16. When 'Complete' displays, tap Restart.
