Backup & restore: LG G2

    Learn how to back up and restore apps, contacts, photos, and data on the LG G2.

     

     

     

     

    Back up data

     

    This procedure creates a backup file on your device, but it will be erased if you perform a master reset. You must back up the file on a computer using the steps below.

    Android 4.4 KitKat

     

    Back up apps

    To back up your apps, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
    2. Tap LG Backup.
    3. Tap Backup.
    4. Select the check boxes for the following options:
      • LG Home screen
      • Personal data
      • Media data
      • LG apps
      • Downloaded apps
      • Settings
    5. Tap Next.
    6. Choose Backup location:
    7. Internal storage
    8. Use the lock when creating backup file
    9. Tap Start.
    10. Tap Done.
    11. Connect USB cable to the phone, then to a computer.Note: If necessary, install the PC program by tapping Ok during installation pop up screen.
    12. At the Select USB connection method screen, tap Media sync.
    13. On the computer, click the Open device to view files using Windows Explorer folder or else navigate to and open the phone’s disk drive and navigate to the desired folder.
    14. Navigate and open the LGBackup folder.
    15. Locate the file with today's date.
    16. Cut or copy and paste the file from your phone memory to your computer.
    17. When finished, safely disconnect your phone from the computer.

     

     

    Back up contacts

    To back up your contacts, follow these steps:

     

    Note: If a Master Reset is performed, the backup file will be erased. Follow the Backup Apps section to save the file to your computer before performing a master reset

    1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
    2. Tap LG Backup.
    3. Tap Backup.
    4. Select the Personal data check box to back up contacts, calendar, and messages saved to phone account.
    5. Deselect the check for the non-app items.
    6. Tap Next.
    7. Choose Backup location:
      • Internal storage
      • Use the lock when creating backup file
    8. Tap Start.
    9. Tap Done.

     

     

    Back up media & pictures

     

    To back up your media and pictures, follow these steps:

     

    Note: If a Master Reset is performed, the backup file will be erased. Follow the Backup Apps section to save the file to your computer before performing a master reset

    1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
    2. Tap LG Backup.
    3. Tap Backup.
    4. Select the Media data check box to back up your documents, music, photos, and videos.
    5. Deselect the check for the non-app items.
    6. Tap Next.
    7. Choose Backup location:
      • Internal storage
      • Use the lock when creating backup file
    8. Tap Start.
    9. Tap Done.

    Android 5.0 Lollipop

     

    Back up apps, contacts and media

    To back up your apps, contacts or media, follow these steps:


    Using device

      1. From any home screen, tap Apps.
      2. Tap Settings > General tab.
      3. Scroll down to 'PHONE MANAGEMENT,' then tap Backup & reset.
      4. Tap LG Backup service > Backup & restore.
      5. Choose back up to Internal storage.
      6. Tap Backup data, then select the check boxes to backup:
        • LG Home screen
        • Personal data (contacts)
        • Media data (media)
        • LG apps
        • Downloaded apps
        • Settings
      7. Deselect  check boxes of content you do not want to back up.
      8. Tap Start.
      9. When 'Complete' displays, tap Done.

     

    Using computer - PC

    1. Connect your phone to a PC using the MicroUSB cable attached to your LG charger.
    2. If prompted, select Media sync (MTP).
    3. On the PC, open My computer.
    4. Right-click the backup file (ending with .sbf) and select Copy.
    5. Right-click location to save backup file to on computer.
    6. Paste the backup file to the PC.

     

     

    Back up to SD card

    1. From any home screen, tap Apps.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Scroll down to 'PHONE MANAGEMENT,' then tap Backup & reset.
    4. Tap LG Backup > Backup & restore.
    5. Tap Back up data and check that 'SD Card' is selected in the drop-down menu.
    6. Select the items you wish to backup.
    7. Tap Start to begin the backup. This may take several minutes.
    8. When 'Backup completed' displays, tap Done..

     

     

    Restore data

    Android 4.4 KitKat

     

    Restore apps

    To restore backed up apps, follow these steps:

     

    1. Connect USB cable to the phone, then to a computer.
          Note: If necessary, install the PC program by tapping Ok during installation pop up screen.
    2. At the Select USB connection method screen, tap Media sync.
    3. On the computer, click the Open device to view files using Windows Explorer folder or else navigate to and open the phone’s disk drive and navigate to the desired folder.
    4. Navigate and open the LGBackup folder.
    5. Locate the file(s) you want to move from your computer to the device internal memory.
          Note: The file name is the date you performed the backup.
    6. Cut or copy and paste the desired file(s) from your computer to the LGBackup folder.
    7. When finished, safely disconnect your phone from the computer.
    8. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
    9. Tap LG Backup.
    10. Tap Restore.
    11. Select backup file from list.
    12. Tap Next.
    13. Review the warning information, and then tap Start to confirm. The device will restart.

     

     

    Restore contacts

    To restore backed up contacts, follow these steps:

    1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
    2. Tap LG Backup.
    3. Tap Restore.
    4. Select backup file from list.
    5. Tap Next.
    6. Review the warning information, and then tap Start to confirm. The device will restart.

     

    Restore media & pictures

    To restore backed up media and pictures, follow these steps:

     

    1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
    2. Tap LG Backup.
    3. Tap Restore.
    4. Select backup file from list.
    5. Tap Next.
    6. Review the warning information, and then tap Start to confirm. The device will restart.

    6. Locate and tap the SD card backup.
    7. Tap Next.
    8. Review the warning information, then tap OK to confirm.
    9. When 'Complete' displays, tap Restart.
