Text to speech

Set up & turn on

To set up and use text to speech, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Language and input.
  4. Tap Text-to-speech output
  5. Tap the Driving mode Switch to turn on Driving mode.
  6. Tap Driving mode (settings).
  7. Tap to select or clear the following check boxes:
    • Incoming call
    • Message
    • New emails
    • New voicemail
    • Alarm
    • Schedule
    • Unlock screen

 

 

Settings

Text to speech reads messages out loud, allowing you to listen to text or messages instead of reading them. To change text to speech settings, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Ajustes).
  3. Tap Language and input.
  4. Tap Text-to-speech output.
  5. Tap Speech rate and then tap the desired setting.
  6. Tap the Settings icon and adjust the desired settings.

Open an app

To open apps using voice commands, follow these steps:

Voice dial a contact

To use voice dialing to call a contact, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Application .
  2. Tap Voice Talk.
  3. Tap Confirm.
  4. Tap Agree.
  5. Tap Next to read information about how to use Voice Talk or tap Skip to go directly to the application.
  6. Tap Tap & Speak or say “Hi Galaxy”.
  7. Tap Call.
  8. Speak Call [contact name].
  9. Tap the contact, if necessary.

 

 

Write a text message (SMS) with voice

To write and send a text message (SMS) using voice commands, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Messaging.
  2. Tap the Compose icon.
  3. Enter the recipient’s phone number or name, or tap the Contacts icon to select a contact from one of the following:
    • Contacts
    • Call logs
    • Group
    • Favorites
  4. Tap the text entry box.
  5. Tap on the Microphone icon.
  6. Say message that you would like to send.
  7. When done, tap the Send icon.
