Backlight

Brightness

To make the screen backlight brighter or darker, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Tap Brightness.
  5. Tap to select or clear the Automatic brightness adjustment check box to enable or disable. When disabled you can touch and drag the Brightness slider left or right to adjust brightness.
  6. Tap OK.

 

 

Timeout

To change the time before the backlight times out, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Tap Screen timeout.
  5. Tap one of the following options:
    • 15 seconds
    • 30 seconds
    • 1 minute
    • 2 minutes
    • 10 minutes

Home screen

Add widget or shortcut

To add a widget or shortcut to the Home screen, follow these steps:

 

  1. Navigate to the Home screen where you want to add the item.
  2. Touch and hold a vacant spot on the screen.
  3. Tap one of the following options:

    • Add apps and widgets
      • Tap the Apps tab to add an app
      • Tap the Widgets tab to add a widget
    • Create folder
    • Set wallpaper

  4. Tap the item you want to add.

 

 

Delete widget or shortcut

To delete a widget or shortcut from the Home screen, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch and hold a widget, shortcut, or folder on any Home screen.
  2. Drag the widget, shortcut, or folder over the Trash can icon at the top of the screen.
  3. Remove your finger.

 

 

Home screen wallpaper

To change the Home screen wallpaper picture, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch and hold an empty spot on any Home screen.
  2. Tap Set wallpaper.
  3. Tap Home screen or Home and lock screens.
  4. Tap one of the following options:
    • Gallery (Galería)
      1. Locate and tap the desired image.
      2. If desired, touch and slide the box to adjust the image area and scale.
      3. Tap Done.
    • Live wallpapers
      1. Tap the desired image.
      2. Tap Set wallpaper.
    • Wallpaper gallery
      1. Tap the desired image.
      2. Tap Set wallpaper.
      3. If desired, touch and slide the box to adjust the image area.
      4. Tap Save.

 

 

Lock screen wallpaper

To change the lock screen wallpaper picture, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch and hold on the Home screen.
  2. Tap Set wallpaper.
  3. Tap Lock screen.
    Note: You can also tap Home and lock screens. By choosing this option, you can set a Live Wallpaper to your Lock screen.
  4. Tap one of the following options:
    1. Gallery
      1. Locate and tap the desired image.
      2. If desired, touch and slide the box to adjust the image area and scale.
      3. Tap Done.
    2. Wallpapers
      1. Tap the desired wallaper.
      2. Tap Set wallpaper.

Keyboard

Change default keyboard

To change the default keyboard, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Language and input.
  4. Tap Default.
  5. Tap one of the following options:
    • Samsung keypad
    • Swype

 

 

Enter symbols & numbers

To enter symbols and numbers with the keyboard, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the open keyboard, tap the 123 +!= key or the 123 Sym key.
  2. tap the More symbols key (Swype keyboard) or the 1/3, 2/3, and 3/3 keys (Samsung keyboard) for more symbols.
    Note: Tap the Menu key and then tap Insert smiley for more emoticons.
  3. Enter the desired number or symbol.
  4. Tap the ABC key to return to the main keyboard.

 

 

Text entry mode

To change the text entry or predictive text mode, follow these steps:

 

To enter text using predictive text mode:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Language and input.
  4. Tap Samsung keypad settings icon.
  5. Tap the Predictive text Switch to turn on predictive text.
  6. Enter text. Word options will appear above the on-screen keyboard.
  7. Tap the desired word in the list.

 

To enter text using traditional mode:


  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Language and input.
  4. Tap Samsung keypad settings icon.
  5. Tap the Predictive text Switch to turn off predictive text.
  6. Enter each letter of the desired word.

 

 

Turn on / off haptic feedback

To turn on or turn off haptic feedback vibration, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press Menu.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Sound.
  4. Tap Haptic feedback to enable/disable this option.
