Internal memory (RAM)

Manage memory

To manage the internal memory, follow these steps:

 

  • If the device is slow, remove the widgets from Home screens (especially ones that update with information orhave animation).
  • If you are using live wallpaper and the device is slow, turn off the live wallpaper.
  • Remove all unused Home screens:
    • Pinch the Home screen.
    • On the grid of Home screens, drag unused screens to the trash.

 

 

Task manager

A task manager can view running apps and close them. To use the task manager, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Applications.
  4. Tap Manage applications.

 

 

View free memory

To view the amount of free internal memory, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap SD card & phone storage.
  4. UnderPhone memory, view Available space.

Manage storage

To manage the internal storage space, follow these steps:

 

  • If you notice the device having some problems and you installed apps in the past few days, then uninstall all the new apps. Most device problems are actually caused by app errors.
  • View other applications that are using storage or memory:
    1. When in Manage Applications settings, press Menu. Some devices may require you select All first to view all applications.
    2. Touch Sort by size.
    3. For apps that take up a lot of space, clear the application cache and data.
    4. For apps that continue to use a lot of your storage space, uninstall them by touching the app name, then Uninstall.
  • Move some apps to the SD card or storage partition.
    Note: Do not move: live wallpaper, widget apps, apps that use the notification bar, or apps that synchronize online. Some apps may not work correctly from SD card. Move unstable apps back to internal memory or upgrade to a new SD card (class 6 or above).

 

 

View free storage space

To view the amount of free internal storage, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap SD card & phone storage.
  4. Under SD card, view Available space.

SD card

Format SD card

Formatting the SD card deletes all data on it. You may wish to format the SD card if you want to delete the files, if files or apps on the SD card are not working, or if the SD card is not working.

 

To format the SD card while inserted in the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap SD card & phone storage.
  3. Tap Format SD card.

 

 

Insert / remove SD card

To insert or remove the SD card, follow these steps:

 

  1. Lift the back cover using the notch located on the bottom-edge of the device.

  2. Push the memory card into the memory card slot until it clicks into place.Memorycardslot.jpg
  3. Press the back cover onto the phone until it snaps into place.

 

 

Open or delete files using a computer

To open or delete files on the SD card using a computer, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap SD card & phone storage.
  4. Tap Mass storage only to enable.
  5. Connect the USB cord to the phone, then to a computer.

  6. Tap Turn on USB storage.
  7. Tap OK.
  8. When a Removable Disk window appears on your computer, click Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Double-click the folder that contains the files you want to access.
  11. When you are finished, click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray of your computer.
  12. Click Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device.
  13. On your phone, tap Turn off USB storage.
  14. Disconnect the USB cable from your phone.

 

 

Open or delete files using the device

To open or delete files on the SD card using the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Polaris Office.
  3. If desired, register with Infraware or tap Later.
  4. Tap My folders.
  5. Tap the appropriate Folder to open the desired file.

 

 

Set default memory storage

By default, the device stores data on the [SD card or internal storage]. To set the default memory storage to another location, follow these steps:

Transfer files between computer & SD card

To transfer files and pictures between the computer and SD card, follow these steps:


  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap SD card & phone storage.
  4. Tap Mass storage only.
  5. Connect the USB cord to the phone, then to a computer.
  6. Tap Turn on USB storage.
  7. Tap OK.
  8. When a Removable Disk window appears on your computer, click Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer.
  9. Click OK.
  10. On the computer, double-click the memory card folder into which you want to copy a file.
  11. Drag and drop the file from your computer into the memory card folder.
  12. Caution: Do not disconnect the USB cable during file transfer.
  13. When you are finished, click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray of your computer.
  14. Click Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device.
  15. On your phone, tap Turn off USB storage.
  16. Disconnect the USB cable from your phone

 

 

Transfer files between internal storage & SD card

To transfer files and pictures between the internal storage and SD card, follow these steps:


  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap Polaris Office.
  3. If desired, register with Infraware or tap Later.
  4. Tap My Folders.
  5. Navigate to the file, in a device folder, you want to copy.
  6. Touch and hold the file.
  7. Tap Copy.
  8. Navigate to and open the memory card folder into which you want to copy the file.
  9. Touch and hold the folder.
  10. Tap Paste.

 

 

View free SD card space

To view the amount of free SD card storage, follow these steps:


  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap SD card & phone storage.
  4. Under SD card, view Available space.
