Bluetooth

Pair Bluetooth device

To turn on Bluetooth and pair with a headset or other device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu menuicon.png key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Bluetooth.
  4. Tap Bluetooth On /Off toggle at the far right to turn on.
  5. On the other device, turn on Bluetooth and make it discoverable.
  6. Tap Bluetooth at far let.
  7. Tap the Menu menuicon.png key and tap Search for devices.
  8. On the Bluetooth devices list, tap the device for pairing.
  9. Tap Pair.
  10. If prompted, enter the PIN.
  11. Note: The default PIN is 1234.
  12. Tap OK.
  13. On the other device, accept the pairing.
  14. If necessary, on the Bluetooth devices list, tap the device to connect.

 

 

Turn on / off Bluetooth

To turn on or turn off Bluetooth, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu menuicon.png key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Bluetooth On /Off toggle at the far right to turn off.

Emergency Alerts

Turn on / off Emergency Alerts

To turn on or turn off Emergency Alert messages that push to the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Messages.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Tap Emergency alerts.
  6. Tap the following emergency alert options to select and enable or clear and disable: 
    • Extreme alert
    • Severe alert
    • Amber alert
    • Required Monthly Test (RMT) Alert

GPS

Turn on / off GPS

To turn on or turn off GPS, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu menuicon.png key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Location.
  4. Tap GPS satellites to enable or disable GPS.

Network

APN & data settings

To set the Access Point Name (APN) and turn on data settings, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Settings menu, look under Wireless & Networks.
  2. Turn off:
    • Airplane mode
    • Wi-Fi
  3. Turn on Mobile network.
  4. Touch the words Mobile network.
  5. If the customer is roaming off the T-Mobile Network; Turn on Data Roaming This will incur charges if you roam internationally, but it is required to receive data when roaming domestically.
  6. Touch Access Point Names.
  7. If available, tap the T-Mobile US APN (the bullet point fills with green). If not available, tap the Menu key, and then tap New APN.
    Note: To reset your APN settings, tap the Menu key and then tap Reset to default.
  8. Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN:
    • Name: T-Mobile US LTE
    • APN: fast.t-mobile.com
    • Proxy: <Not set>
    • Port: <Not set>
    • Username: <Not set>
    • Password: <Not set>
    • Server: <Not set>
    • MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    • MMS proxy: <Not set>
    • MMS port: <Not set>
    • MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
    • MCC: 310
    • MNC: 260
    • Authentication type: <Not set>
    • APN type: <Not set> OR Internet+MMS
    • APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
    • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
    • Enable/disable APN: <greyed out unless there are multiple APN's>
    • Bearer: Unspecified
  9. Tap the Menu key.
  10. Tap Save.
  11. Tap the desired APN profile you want to use. The bullet point fills with green next to the APN profile.

 

 

Manual network selection

To manually select the wireless network the device connects to, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu image008.jpg key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Mobile networks.
  4. Tap Network operators.
  5. Tap Search networks.
  6. Scroll to and tap the desired network.

 

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

 

 

Switch 2G / 4G / LTE

To change the band between 2G, 4G, and LTE, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu image008.jpg key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Mobile network.
  4. Tap Network Mode.
  5. Tap WCDMA only to use a 3G / 4G connection only.
  6. Tap GSM only to use a 2G connection only.
  7. Tap GSM / WCDMA auto to use a 4G connection when available.

 

 

Turn on / off Airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows you to use apps and menus, but not make calls or use the internet.

 

To turn on or turn off airplane mode, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu image008.jpg key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap More.
  4. Tap Airplane mode to turn on or off.

 

Turn on / off data roaming

To turn on or turn off data roaming, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu image008.jpg key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Mobile networks.
  4. Tap Data roaming to connect or disconnect data services.

System Manager (Carrier IQ)

Opt in / out of System Manager

System Manager makes it easier for T-Mobile to help with problems that happen when using your device. To opt in or opt out of System Manager, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, pull down the Notification bar.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Under Personal, tap Privacy.
  4. Tap Collect Diagnostics.
  5. Tap More Info button if you want to read about what info is collected.
  6. Add or remove the Allow Diagnostics check mark to turn it on or off.
  7. Tap Close.

Wi-Fi

Delete Wi-Fi network profile

To delete a saved Wi-Fi network profile, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu menuicon.png key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Scroll to and tap the Wi-Fi network you are connected to and want to delete.
  5. Tap Forget.

 

 

Scan & connect to Wi-Fi network

To scan for and connect to available Wi-Fi networks, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu menuicon.png key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. If necessary, tap Wi-Fi On / Off toggle to turn on and view Wi-Fi networks.
  5. Tap the Menu menuicon.png key.
  6. Tap Scan.
  7. Scroll to and tap the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.
  8. If security is enabled, enter the Wireless password.
  9. Tap Connect.

 

 

Turn on / off Wi-Fi

To turn on or turn off Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu menuicon.png key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Tap Wi-Fi On / Off toggle to turn on and view Wi-Fi networks or to turn off Wi-Fi.

 

 

W-Fi indicators

To determine when you have an active Wi-Fi connection, refer to these icons:
