Developer options

Turn off develop options

If developer options are turned on, it can cause red border on the screen, errors when connecting to computers, or other problems. To turn off all developer options, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Developer options.
  4. Tap the Developer options Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.

Language

Change language

To change the language of the device and menus, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Language and input.
  4. Tap Language.
  5. Tap the desired language.

First time use

Prepare the battery and SIM card

Before using the device, you need to insert the battery and SIM card. To prepare the battery and SIM card, see these steps:

 

 

 

Setup wizard

After turning on your device the first time, you may see a setup wizard to help you set up your device. To do this initial setup, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch English and swipe up or down to select your desired language.
  2. If you are visually impaired or hard of hearing, tap Accessibility to adjust the accessibility settings.
  3. Tap Next.
  4. Tap Learn more if you want to learn more about Wi-Fi Calling. Otherwise, tap Skip.
  5. If desired, tap a Wi-Fi network and follow the prompts to connect. If you do not want to connect to a Wi-Fi network, tap Skip.
  6. Choose one of the following options:

          Samsung account
    • Tap Create new account to open a new Samsung account. Follow the prompts.
    • Tap Sign in to log into your existing Samsung account. Follow the prompts.
    • Tap Skip to create or log into a Samsung account later. 

  7. Choose one of the following options:

          Google account
    • Tap Yes to log in to your Google account. Enter your email address and password and tap the Next arrow.
    • Tap No if you do not have a Google account. On the following screen, tap Get an account to open a new Google account and then follow the prompts. Otherwise, tap Not now to open a Google account later.

  8. Read the 'Google & location' information. If desired, tap the check boxes to clear the check boxes and turn off location reporting for the two settings.
    Note: You can change the Location reporting settings at any time after you finish the setup wizard.
  9. Tap the Next arrow.
  10. If desired, enter your name in the First and Last fields. These will be entered into your contact profile.
  11. Tap the Next arrow. If you left the First and Last fields blank, tap the Next arrow one more time.
  12. From the 'Dropbox' screen, choose one of the following options:

          Dropbox account
    • If you have a Dropbox account, tap I already have an account to sign in to your account. Follow the prompts.
    • If you want to open a new Dropbox account, tap Create a new Dropbox account and then follow the prompts.
    • Tap No thanks to log into  or open a Dropbox account later.

  13. If you want to turn on Easy mode, tap Enable easy mode setup to select the check box.
    Note: At any time after the Setup wizard, you can adjust the Easy mode setting. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key, tap Settings, tap Home screen mode, and then tap the desired setting
  14. Tap Finish.
  15. If prompted, tap Yes to update your Samsung account or No to not update your Samsung account.
  16. Read the ‘System Manager Application’ information. If desired, tap More info. Tap Close when finished.
  17. Read the tip and tap OK. You will be navigated to the main Home screen (Home screen 3).

Time & date

Auto-update time (NITZ)

To set the device clock to automatically update based on what time zone it is in, follow these steps:

 

Note: The default setting for your device is to automatically update the time zone.

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Date and time.
  4. Tap Automatic time zone to select the check box.
  5. Tap Automatic date and time to select the check box.

 

 

Set time & date

To set the time and date of the device clock, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Date and time.
  4. Tap Automatic date and time to clear the check box. 'Set date' and 'Set time' light up and are now accessible.
  5. Tap Set date to set the date. When finished, tap Set.
  6. Tap Set time to set the time. When finished, tap Set.
