Drivers for computers

To download and install drivers for a Windows computer, follow these steps:

 

Note: The drivers should already be stored on your device and will install when you connect your device to the computer using the USB cable. However, you can also install the drivers by downloading BlackBerry Link (follow the steps below). Also, installing BlackBerry Link allows you to sync your device with your computer for transferring files.

 

  1. Navigate to the BlackBerry Link download site.
  2. Click the appropriate link for your computer:

    • Download for PC
    • Download for Mac

  3. Follow the prompts to download the program.

Mobile hotspot via Wi-Fi

Set up mobile hotspot

To set up or configure a mobile hotspot over Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down and tap Settings.
  2. Tap Network Connections.
  3. Tap Mobile Hotspot.
  4. Tap the Mobile Hotspot Switch to On.

  5. To adjust if other devices can connect:
    1. Swipe up on the screen.
    2. Next to 'Allow devices to connect,' tap the check box to:
      • Select the check box and allow devices to connect
      • Clear the check box and deny other devices from connecting.
        Note: This will not disconnect any currently connected devices.
    3. You can tap on connected devices to manually disconnect them.
      Note: Devices will be prevented from re-connecting until the hotspot has been turned off and back on.
  6. Tap the Menu icon at bottom-right and then tap Configure.

  7. Tap the Name field to change your device's SSID and tap the Password field to change the password other devices must enter to connect.
    Note: Tap the show password icon to see your current password.
  8. Swipe up on the screen to update any other desired settings and tap Save.

 

Note: You cannot change the maximum number of connections.

 

 

Turn on / off mobile hotspot

To turn on or turn off a mobile hotspot over Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

 

Note: Mobile HotSpot cannot be turned on unless your Mobile Network is turned on.

 

First-time access

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down and tap Settings.
  2. Tap Network Connections.
  3. Tap Mobile Hotspot.
  4. Tap Next until you finish the tutorial.
  5. Enter a password that other devices must enter to connect to your Mobile HotSpot and tap Next.

    Your phone starts broadcasting its Wi-Fi network name (SSID)  and up to eight other devices can connect to your Mobile HotSpot. Your  phone’s default SSID is T-Mobile Blackberry [XXX]. When Smartphone Mobile HotSpot is enabled,  your phone will display the icon on the Home screen  status bar.

  6. To turn off, tap Mobile HotSpot Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.

 

After first-time access

Note: After you access the Mobile Hotspot for the first time, you will skip the tutorial and setup prompts.

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down and tap Settings.
  2. Tap Network Connections.
  3. Tap Mobile Hotspot.
  4. Tap the Mobile HotSpot Switch
    to On. The Switch moves right and fills with color.

    Your phone starts broadcasting its Wi-Fi network name (SSID)  so you can connect to it with up to eight computers or other devices. Your  phone’s default SSID is T-Mobile Blackberry [XXX]. When Smartphone Mobile HotSpot is enabled,  your phone will display the icon on the Home screen  status bar.

  5. To turn off, tap the Mobile HotSpot Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.

Tethering via USB

To share you mobile data connection with a computer over a USB cable, follow these steps:

 

First-time access

  1. Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable.
  2. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down and tap Settings.
  3. Tap Network Connections.
  4. Tap Internet tethering.
  5. Tap Next until you finish the tutorial.
  6. Tap the Connect using field and then tap USB.
  7. Tap Next.
  8. Tap the Internet Tethering Switch to 'On.' When your phone starts sharing its connection, the Status field appears displaying the following information:
    • Time
    • Data sent
    • Data received
  9. When finished, tap the Tethering Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.
  10. Disconnect the USB cable.

 

After first-time access

  1. Connect your phone to your computer using a USB cable.
  2. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down and tap Settings.
  3. Tap Network Connections.
  4. Tap Internet tethering.
  5. If necessary, tap Connect using and then tap USB.
  6. Tap the Internet Tethering Switch to 'On.' When your phone starts sharing its connection, the Status field appears displaying the following information:
    • Time
    • Data sent
    • Data received
  7. When finished, tap the Tethering Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.
  8. Disconnect the USB cable.
