    Manage memory

    To manage the internal memory, follow these steps:

     

    Restart the device regularly

    You should restart the phone at least once a day:

    1. Press and hold the Power key.
    2. Touch the screen and slide down to turn off.
    3. To turn the phone on again, press and hold the Power key.

     

    Set the device to manage some memory

    Prevent the memory from being filled as quickly:

    • Change the setting for email synchronization to download only for the past three days
      1. From the Start screen, tap the tile for the email account you want to edit.
      2. Tap the More icon.
      3. Tap settings.
      4. Tap sync settings.
      5. Tap the Download email from field.
      6. Tap the last 3 days.
      7. Tap the Check mark icon to save.

    Manage storage

    To manage the internal storage space, follow these steps:

     

    Clear storage regularly

    Clear the storage at least once a week:

     

    Move Files from phone to PC

    1. Connect the phone to your computer using the provided USB cable.
    2. Choose one of the following options:
      • If you're using Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP, open Windows Explorer from the taskbar.
      • If you're using Windows 8, go to Desktop view, and then open File Explorer from the taskbar.
    3. In Windows Explorer or File Explorer, under 'Computer,' click your phone's name.
      Note: The default device name is 'Windows Phone.'
    4. Double-click the Phone drive.
    5. Navigate to and open the folder that contains the file(s) you want to move.
    6. Transfer the file(s) from your device to a folder on your computer.
    7. When finished, safely disconnect the phone from the computer.

     

     

    View free storage space

    To view the amount of free internal storage, follow these steps:

     

    1. From the Start screen, touch the screen and slide left.
    2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
    3. Scroll to and tap phone storage.
    4. View the unused storage space information.
    5. Tap the usage bar for more details.
