Back up apps

To back up your apps, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Start screen, touch the screen and slide left.
  2. Scroll down to and tap Settings.
  3. Scroll down to and tap backup.
  4. Tap app list+settings.
  5. Tap the Backup switch to turn on.
  6. If necessary, sign in to your Microsoft account.
  7. Tap back up now.

 

 

Back up contacts

When saving a contact you will be asked to select one of your online accounts, i.e. Google or Hotmail. To verify where the contact is saved, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Start screen, tap the People tile.
  2. Select the contact you wish to view.
  3. Tap the Edit icon.
  4. View the 'EDIT [ACCOUNT] CONTACT' information at the top of the screen.
    Note: For example, a contact saved to a Hotmail account will display 'EDIT HOTMAIL CONTACT.'

 

 

Back up media & pictures

Using Skydrive on device

To send a picture to the SkyDrive album, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Start screen, touch the screen and slide left.
  2. Scroll to and tap Photos.
  3. Navigate to and select the image you want to send.
  4. Tap the More (...) icon.
  5. Tap save to SkyDrive.
  6. If desired, enter a caption or tap add tag and then follow the prompts to add a tag.
  7. Tap the Send icon.


Using computer - PC

To copy files to your PC, follow these steps:

  1. Connect USB cable to the phone, then to a computer.
  2. On the computer, click the Open device to view files using Windows Explorer folder or else navigate to and open the phone’s disk drive and navigate to the desired folder.
  3. Navigate to the desired files on your device.
  4. Drag and drop the files into the desired computer folder.
  5. When finished, safely disconnect the phone from the computer.

Restore data

Restore data

After completing a master reset or replacing your device, you will be prompted during setup to restore from last date of use. Your device will then take a moment to restore settings, text, photos, contacts, and calendar items.
