Bluetooth

Pair Bluetooth device

To turn on Bluetooth and pair with a headset or other device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. Tap Bluetooth.
  3. If necessary, tap the Bluetooth Switch to On. The Switch moves right and fills with color.
  4. If necessary, make the other device discoverable.
  5. From the Devices list, tap the device you want to pair with.
  6. If prompted, enter the passkey (default passkey is '1234'). Tap OK.
  7. On the other device, if necessary, enter the passkey. Accept the pairing.

 

 

Turn on / off Bluetooth

To turn on or turn off Bluetooth, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. Tap Bluetooth.
  3. To turn off, tap the Bluetooth Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.
  4. To turn on, tap the Bluetooth Switch to On. The Switch moves right and fills with color.

Emergency Alerts

Turn on / off Emergency Alerts

To turn on or turn off Emergency Alert messages that push to the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. Navigate to Home screen 1 and tap Text Messages.
  2. Tap the Menu icon at bottom-right.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Emergency alerts.
  5. Tap the Switch for each desired alert to On or Off
    Note: Presidential alerts cannot be turned off.

GPS

Turn on / off GPS

To turn on or turn off GPS, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Location services.
  4. To turn on, tap the Location Services Switch to On. The Switch moves right and fills with color.
  5. To turn of, tap the Location Services Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.

 

 

 

Enable / Disable GPS / Location access for applications

To setup GPS / location access for applications, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Location services.
  4. Tap Application Permissions.
  5. Tap Permissions at the top of the screen.
  6. Tap All.
  7. Tap the desired application.
  8. Tap the Location toggle to turn On or Off.

Network

APN & data settings

To set the Access Point Name (APN) and turn on data settings, follow these steps:

 

APN - Mobile Network

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and slide down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Network Connections.
  4. Tap Mobile Network.
  5. Tap the Settings settings icon.jpg icon.
  6. Tap the Access Point Name field, and then enter fast.tmobile.com.
  7. Leave the Username field blank.
  8. Leave the Password field blank.
  9. Leave the Authentication Type field set to None.
  10. Tap Save.

 

APN - Reset

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Network Connections.
  4. Tap Mobile Network.
  5. Tap the Settings settings icon.jpg icon.
  6. To the Restore to default icon located at the bottom of the screen to restore default settings.
  7. Tap Restore.

 

APN - Text messaging

  1. Navigate to Home screen 1 and tap Text messaging.
  2. Tap the Menu icon at bottom-right and then tap Settings.
  3. Tap Text Messages.
  4. Tap the Advanced icon at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Swipe up on the screen to reveal the APN section.
  6. Update the desired settings and tap the Save icon at the bottom of the screen.

 

Turn on data settings

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. If necessary, tap the Wi-Fi icon to turn off Wi-Fi. The icon is removed of color.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Network Connections.
  5. If necessary, tap the Airplane Mode Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.
  6. Tap Mobile Network.
  7. If necessary, tap the Mobile Network Switch to On. The Switch moves right and fills with color
  8. If necessary, tap the Data Services Switch to On. The Switch moves right and fills with color

 

 

Manual network selection

To manually select the wireless network the device connects to, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Network Connections.
  4. Tap Mobile Network.
  5. Swipe up and tap the Network select mode field and then tap Manual.
  6. If necessary, tap Scan (if a scan does not automatically begin).
  7. When the scan is finished, swipe up and tap the desired network.

 

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

 

 

Switch 2G / 4G / LTE

To change the band between 2G, 4G, and LTE, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Network Connections.
  4. Tap Mobile network.
  5. Tap the Network mode field.
  6. Tap one of the following options:

    • 4G LTE & 4G / 3G & 2G
    • 4G LTE & 4G / 3G
    • 4G & 3G & 2G
    • 4G & 3G
    • 2G

 

 

Turn on / off Airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows you to use apps and menus, but not make calls or use the internet.

 

To turn on or turn off airplane mode, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Network Connections.
  4. To turn on, tap the 'Airplane Mode' Switch to On. The Switch moves right and fills with color.
  5. To turn off, tap the 'Airplane Mode' Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.

 

 

Turn on / off data roaming

To turn on or turn off data roaming, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Network Connections.
  4. Tap Mobile Network.
  5. Tap the Data services while roaming field.
  6. Select one of the following options:

    • On
    • Off
    • Prompt

NFC

Read NFC tag

To read the NFC tag information from another NFC device or a printed tag, follow these steps:

 

Note: NFC must be turned on. Also, tag sharing must be enabled on the other device.

 

  1. Turn on NFC and navigate your device to the Home screen.
  2. Gently place the back of your phone against the NFC antenna location of the other device, or against the printed tag.
  3. If necessary, wait for the file transfer to complete before separating the devices.
  4. If necessary, tap Receive to accept the file.

 

 

Turn on / off NFC

To turn on or turn off NFC, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Network Connections.
  4. Tap NFC.
  5. To turn on, tap the 'NFC Connectivity' Switch to On. The Switch moves right and fills with color.
  6. To turn off, tap the 'NFC Connectivity' Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.

System Manager (Carrier IQ)

Opt in / out of System Manager

System Manager makes it easier for T-Mobile to help with problems that happen when using your device. To opt in or opt out of System Manager, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Security and Privacy.
  4. Tap Diagnostics.
  5. To opt in, tap the 'Send diagnostics and usage data' Switch to On. The Switch moves right and fills with color.
  6. To opt out, tap the 'Send diagnostics and usage data' Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.

Wi-Fi

Delete Wi-Fi network profile

To delete a saved Wi-Fi network profile, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Network Connections.
  4. Tap Wi-Fi.
  5. Tap the Saved icon (check mark).
  6. Tap the desired network to be deleted.
  7. Tap the Trash can icon and then tap Delete.

 

 

Scan & connect to Wi-Fi network

To scan for and connect to available Wi-Fi networks, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Network Connections.
  4. Tap Wi-Fi.
  5. If necessary, tap the Wi-Fi Switch to On. The Switch moves right and fills with color.
  6. Tap the desired network.
  7. Enter the password. If necessary, tap Advanced to enter any advanced settings information.
  8. Tap Connect.

    Note: Many public Wi-Fi networks require a log in. If prompted about HotSpot log in, tap OK. This launches a Web page to log in to the Wi-Fi provider's network.

 

 

Turn on / off Wi-Fi

To turn on or turn off Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and drag it down.
  2. To turn off, tap the Wi-Fi Icon. The icon turns white.
  3. To turn on, tap the the Wi-Fi Icon. The icon fills with color.

 

 

W-Fi indicators

To determine when you have an active Wi-Fi connection, refer to these icons:
