Internal memory (RAM)

Manage memory

To manage the internal memory, follow these steps:

 

Restart the device at least once a day
  1. Press and hold the Power key.
  2. Tap Restart.

 

 

Task manager

We're sorry, but the task manager feature is not available on this device.

 

 

View free memory

To view the amount of free internal memory, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and slide down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap About.
  4. From the 'Category' drop-down menu, select Hardware.
  5. View the 'Free Memory' information.

Internal storage (ROM)

Manage storage

To manage the internal storage space, follow these steps:

 

Clear storage regularly (at least once week)

  • Delete unnecessary text messages (SMS) and picture messages (MMS).
  • Transfer pictures and media to a computer, and remove them from the phone memory.
  • Clear the browser cache, cookies, or history.
  • Delete the call logs.

 

 

Set the device to manage some memory - Change email sync settings
  1. From any Home screen, touch the screen and slide right until you reach the BlackBerry Hub.
  2. Tap the Menu icon in the lower-right corner.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Email Accounts.
  5. Select the email account to edit.
  6. Tap Edit Account.
  7. Scroll down to and tap Edit Folder Settings.
  8. If necessary, tap the Sync All Email Folders switch to turn off.
  9. Clear the check boxes for folders that you do not need updated.

 

 

View free storage space

To view the amount of free internal storage, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and slide down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Storage and Access.
  4. Tap Device Storage Details.
  5. View the 'Free Storage Space' information.

SD card

Format SD card

Formatting the SD card deletes all data on it. You may wish to format the SD card if you want to delete the files, if files or apps on the SD card are not working, or if the SD card is not working.

 

To format the SD card while inserted in the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and slide down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Storage and Access.
  4. Scroll to 'Media Card Details.'
  5. Tap Format Media Card.
  6. Review the warning, and then tap OK to confirm.

 

 

Insert/remove SD card

To insert or remove the SD card, follow these steps:

 

Note: Before removing or replacing the battery, make sure the phone is turned off. To turn the phone off, press and hold the Power key until the screen counts down to zero.

 

Insert

  1. Remove the back cover using the notch at the bottom of the phone.

  1. Remove the back cover using the notch at the bottom of the phone.

Open or delete files using a computer

To open or delete files on the SD card using a computer, follow these steps:

 

Use a PC computer

  1. If necessary, install the Blackberry Link program on your computer.
  2. Power on your device and connect it to your computer using the USB cable.
  3. Open the Blackberry Link program on your computer.
  4. Click the Blackberry tab at the bottom of the screen and navigate to the desired folder and files.
  5. On the keyboard, press and hold the Ctrl key. Now, select each file you want to delete.
  6. Release the Ctrl key when finished.
  7. Hover your cursor over any of the highlighted files.
  8. Right-click, and then click Delete.
  9. Click OK.

 

 

Use a Mac computer

  1. If necessary, install the Blackberry Link program on your computer.
  2. Power on your device and connect it to your computer using the USB cable.
  3. Open the Blackberry Link program on your computer.
  4. Click the Blackberry tab at the bottom of the screen and navigate to the desired folder and files.
  5. On the keyboard, press and hold the Command key. Now, select each file you want to delete.
  6. Release the Command key when finished.
  7. Hover your cursor over any of the highlighted files.
  8. Press and hold the Control key and then Left-click.
  9. Click Remove from device.

 

 

Open or delete files using the device

To open or delete files on the SD card using the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. Navigate to Home screen 2.
  2. Tap File Manager.
  3. Tap the Menu icon at bottom-left, and then tap Media Card.
  4. Navigate to the desired files on your memory card.
  5. Perform one of the following actions:
    • Delete a single file
      1. Touch and hold the file.
      2. Tap the Trash can icon.
      3. Tap Delete.
    • Delete multiple files
      1. Tap the Menu icon at bottom-right.
      2. Tap Select.
      3. Select each file you want to delete.
      4. Tap the Trash can icon.
      5. Tap Delete.

 

 

Set default memory storage

By default, the device camera stores data on the internal storage. To set the default memory storage to another location, follow these steps:


  1. From any Home screen, tap the Camera icon.
  2. Touch the Status bar and slide down.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap the Save on Media Card switch to turn on and set the SD card as default memory storage.

 

 

Transfer files between computer & SD card

To transfer files and pictures between the computer and SD card, follow these steps:


Use a PC computer

  1. If necessary, install the Blackberry Link program on your computer.
  2. Power on your device and connect it to your computer using the USB cable.
  3. Open the Blackberry Link program on your computer.
  4. Click the Computer tab (the title was entered during setup) at bottom-left and navigate to where you want to move the files.
  5. Click the Blackberry tab at the bottom of the screen and navigate to the desired folder and files.
  6. On the keyboard, press and hold the Ctrl key. Next, select each file you want to move.
  7. Release the Ctrl key when finished.
  8. Drag and drop the files over the Computer tab to finish moving the files.

 

 

Use a Mac computer

  1. If necessary, install the Blackberry Link program on your computer.
  2. Power on your device and connect it to your computer using the USB cable.
  3. Open the Blackberry Link program on your computer.
  4. Click the Blackberry tab at the bottom of the screen and navigate to the desired folder and files.
  5. On the keyboard, press and hold the Command key. Next, select each file you want to move.
  6. Release the Command key when finished.
  7. Hover your cursor over any of the highlighted files.
  8. Click and drag the file (along with all of the other files) over the Computer tab and drop the files.
    Note: Make sure the + icon appears before you drop the files.

 

 

Transfer files between internal storage & SD card

To transfer files and pictures between the internal storage and SD card, follow these steps:


  1. Navigate to Home screen 2.
  2. Tap File Manager.
  3. Tap the Menu icon at bottom-left, and then tap Media Card to access your external memory card files.
  4. Navigate to the desired folder or files.
  5. Tap the Menu icon at bottom-right, and then tap Select.
  6. Select the files that you want to transfer.
  7. Tap the Copy icon (overlapping sheets of paper).
  8. Tap the Back icon.
  9. Tap the Menu icon at bottom-left, and then tap Device to enter your internal device memory.
  10. Navigate to the location you want to transfer files to.
  11. Tap Paste.

 

 

View free SD card space

To view the amount of free SD card storage, follow these steps:


  1. From any Home screen, touch the Status bar and slide down.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Storage and Access.
  4. Tap Media Card Details.
  5. View the 'Free Storage Space' value.
