Backlight

Brightness

To make the screen backlight brighter or darker, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu menu.PNG key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Tap Brightness.
  5. Tap Automatic brightness or touch and drag left or right to adjust brightness.
  6. Tap OK.

 

 

Timeout

To change the time before the backlight times out, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu menu.PNG key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Tap Screen timeout.
  5. Tap one of the following options:
    • 15 seconds
    • 30 seconds
    • 45 seconds
    • 1 minute
    • 2 minutes
    • 10 minutes
    • Never turn off

Home screen

Add widget or shortcut

To add a widget or shortcut to the Home screen, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch and hold a vacant spot on any Home screen.
  2. Tap one of the following options:
    • Widget
      1. Scroll to and tap the desired widget.
      2. Tap Select.
    • App
      1. Scroll to and tap the desired app.
    • Shortcut
      1. Scroll to and tap the desired shortcut.

Delete widget or shortcut

To delete a widget or shortcut from the Home screen, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch and hold a widget, app, shortcut, or folder on any Home screen.
  2. Drag the widget, app, shortcut, or folder to the Trash Can icon at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Release your finger.

 

 

Home screen wallpaper

To change the Home screen wallpaper picture, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu Sensation_Menu_Icon.png key.
  2. Tap Personalize.
  3. Tap Wallpaper.
  4. Tap one of the following options:
    • Gallery
      1. Navigate to and tap the desired image.
      2. If desired, touch and drag the crop box to move it to the portion of the image you want.
      3. If desired, touch and drag the crop box frame to change its size.
    • HTC wallpapers
      1. Scroll to and tap the desired wallpaper image.
      2. Tap Apply.
    • Live wallpapers
      1. Scroll to and tap the desired wallpaper image.
      2. Tap Apply.

 

 

Lock screen wallpaper

To change the lock screen wallpaper picture, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu Sensation_Menu_Icon.png key.
  2. Tap Personalize.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Tap Lock screen style.
  5. Scroll to the desired image.
  6. If desired, tap Settings and adjust options.
  7. Tap Apply.

Keyboard

Change default keyboard

To change the default keyboard, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu menu.PNG key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Language & keyboard.
  4. Tap Touch Input.
  5. Tap Keyboard types.
  6. Tap one of the following options:

    Standard (QWERTY)
    The standard QWERTY keyboard is the default keyboard. Its layout is similar to that of a desktop computer keyboard.

    Note: In landscape mode (when the phone is held horizontally) the standard QWERTY keyboard displays even if the phone keyboard or the compact QWERTY keyboard is selected.

    Phone
    The layout of the phone keyboard resembles that of the traditional mobile phone keypad.

    Note: The phone keyboard displays only in portrait mode (when the phone is held vertically).

    Compact (QWERTY)
    The compact QWERTY keyboard features two letters on each large key.

    Note: The compact QWERTY keyboard displays only in portrait mode (when the phone is held vertically).

 

 

Enter symbols & numbers

To enter symbols and numbers with the keyboard, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any text screen, tap a text entry field to open the on-screen keyboard.
  2. Tap 12# to switch to numbers and symbols; tap the 1/2 key to see the second set of symbols.
  3. Tap ABC to switch back to text entry.

 

 

Text entry mode

To change the text entry or predictive text mode, follow these steps:

 

Multi-tap mode

Note: Multi-tap mode can be enabled only for the phone keyboard and compact QWERTY keyboard.

 

To enter text using multi-tap mode, follow these steps:

 

  1. Tap the XT9 ABC key on the keyboard to highlight “ABC” in green.
  2. To use multi-tap mode, tap a key until the desired letter appears.
  3. On the phone keyboard: to enter the word RUN, tap 7 three times, 8 twice, and 6 twice.
  4. On the compact QWERTY keyboard: to enter the word RUN, tap 1 twice, 3 once, and 8 twice.


Predictive text mode

Note: Prediction can be enabled only for the phone keyboard and compact QWERTY keyboard.

 

To enter text using predictive text mode, follow these steps:

 

Tap the XT9 ABC key on the keyboard to highlight “XT9” in green.

 

When tapping letters to enter text in a text input field,the phone predicts the word. If the predicted word is the word you want, tap the space key and begin the next word. Otherwise, continue entering the word you want or tap one of the other predictions.

Speech-to-text mode

Speech-to-text mode can be used on all three keyboard types. Speech-to-text mode uses Google’s speech-recognition service, so you need to be connected to the Internet to enter text by speaking.

 

To enter text using speech-to-text mode, follow these steps:

 

  1. Tap the Microphone key.
  2. When the Speak now window pops up, speak the words and numbers you want in the text entry field.
  3. If the text is correct, tap the Space key; otherwise tap the Delete key and try again.


Trace mode

Note: Trace mode can used only on the standard QWERTY keyboard. To turn on trace mode, follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu menu.PNG key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Language & keyboard.
  4. Tap Touch Input.
  5. Tap Trace keyboard.
  6. Tap Trace keyboard again to turn on trace input.
  7. If desired, tap Tracecolor and tap the color you want to use.

To enter text using trace mode, follow these steps:

  1. To enter the word RUN, touch R, drag your finger to U, continue to N, and then lift your finger.
  2. If the text is correct, tap the Space key and begin the next word.
  3. Otherwise, tap one of the other predictions or tap the Delete key and try again.


Traditional mode

Note: Traditional mode works only for the QWERTY keyboard. To enter text using traditional mode, follow these steps:

  1. Separately tap each letter of a word.
  2. Tap the Space key between words.

 

 

Turn on / off haptic feedback

To turn on or turn off haptic feedback vibration, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap Menu.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Sound.
  4. Tap Vibrate feedback to enable/disable the option.
