Bluetooth

Pair Bluetooth device

To turn on Bluetooth and pair with a headset or other device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. If necessary, tap the Bluetooth switch to turn on.
  4. On the other device, turn on Bluetooth and make it discoverable.
  5. Tap Bluetooth.
  6. Under 'Available devices,' select the device you want to pair with.
  7. If prompted, tap Pair.
  8. If prompted, enter the PIN.
    Note: The default PIN is 1234.
  9. Tap OK.
  10. On the other device, accept the pairing.
    Note: If too much time elapses before accepting, the pairing will fail.

 

 

Turn on / off Bluetooth

To turn on or turn off Bluetooth, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Tap the Bluetooth switch to turn on or turn off.

Emergency Alerts

Turn on / off Emergency Alerts

Note: Presidential alerts are automatically enabled and cannot be disabled.

 

To turn on or turn off Emergency Alert messages that push to the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Messages.
  3. Tap the Menu icon.
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Tap Emergency alerts.
  6. Select or clear the following options:
    • Extreme alert
    • Severe alert
    • AMBER alerts

GPS

Turn on / off GPS

To turn on or turn off GPS, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
  3. Tap Location.
  4. Tap GPS satellites to turn on or turn off GPS.

Network

APN & data settings

To set the Access Point Name (APN) and turn on data settings, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Under 'Wireless & networks,' tap Mobile data.
  4. Select Data roaming.
  5. Tap Access point names.
  6. If available, tap the T-Mobile US APN (the bullet point fills with green). If not available, tap the Menu key, and then tap New APN.
    Note: To reset your APN settings, tap the Menu key and then tap Reset to default.
  7. Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN:
    • Name: T-Mobile US LTE
    • APN: fast.t-mobile.com
    • Proxy: <Not set>
    • Port: <Not set>
    • Username: <Not set>
    • Password: <Not set>
    • Server: <Not set>
    • MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    • MMS proxy: <Not set>
    • MMS port: <Not set>
    • MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
    • MCC: 310
    • MNC: 260
    • Authentication type: <Not set>
    • APN type: <Not set> OR Internet+MMS
    • APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
    • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
    • Enable/disable APN: <greyed out unless there are multiple APN's>
    • Bearer: Unspecified
  8. Tap the Menu key.
  9. Tap Save.
  10. Tap the desired APN profile you want to use. The bullet point fills with green next to the APN profile.

 

 

Manual network selection

To manually select the wireless network the device connects to, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Under 'Wireless & networks,' tap Mobile data.
  4. Tap Network operators.
  5. Tap Search networks.
  6. Select the desired network and follow additional prompts if necessary.

 

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

 

 

Switch 2G / 4G

To change the band between 2G and 4G, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Under 'Wireless & networks,' tap Mobile data.
  4. Tap Network mode.
  5. Select one of the following:
    • WCDMA only
    • GSM only
    • GSM / WCDMA auto

 

 

Turn on / off Airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows you to use apps and menus, but not make calls or use the internet.

 

To turn on or turn off airplane mode, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Tap the Airplane mode switch to turn on or turn off.

 

 

Turn on / off data roaming

To turn on or turn off data roaming, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Tap Mobile data.
  4. Select or clear the Data roaming bubble.

System Manager (Carrier IQ)

Opt in / out of System Manager

System Manager makes it easier for T-Mobile to help with problems that happen when using your device. To opt in or opt out of System Manager, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Scroll down 'Personal,' and tap Security.
  4. Scroll to "Personal data,' and tap Collect Diagnostics.
  5. Select or clear the Allow Diagnostics bubble.

Wi-Fi

Delete Wi-Fi network profile

To delete a saved Wi-Fi network profile, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Touch and hold on the network you want to delete.
  5. Tap Forget network.

 

 

Scan & connect to Wi-Fi network

To scan for and connect to available Wi-Fi networks, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. If necessary, tap the Wi-Fi switch to turn on.
  5. Tap the Menu icon.
  6. Tap Scan.
  7. Scroll to and select the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.
  8. If security is enabled, enter the password.
  9. Tap Connect.
