Ringtones & notifications: HTC One S

Learn how to set custom ringtones and notifications on the HTC One S.

 

 

 

 

Notifications

 

To change the notification sounds, follow these steps:

 

  1. Transfer the music, song, or sound file to the Notifications folder on your device.
  2. On the device, touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  3. Tap the Settings icon.
  4. Scroll to 'Phone,' and then tap Sound.
  5. Under 'Notifications,' tap Notification sounds.
  6. Select the type of notification to edit.
  7. Navigate to and select the recently transferred custom sound file.
  8. Tap Apply.

 

 

Ringtones

 

To change the ringtone, follow these steps:

 

Ringtone for all calls - From Settings

  1. Transfer the music, song, or sound file to the Ringtones folder on your device.
  2. Touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  3. Tap the Settings icon.
  4. Tap Sound.
  5. Scroll to 'Phone,' and then tap Sound.
  6. Tap Phone ringtone.
  7. Navigate to and select the desired file.
  8. Tap Apply.

 

Ringtone for all calls - From Music Player

  1. Transfer the music, song, or sound file to the Music folder on your device.
  2. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  3. Scroll to and tap Music.
  4. Navigate to the desired file.
  5. Tap the circular Options icon (three dots) next to the desired file.
  6. Tap Set as ringtone.
  7. Tap Phone ringtone.

 

 

Ringtone for one contact - From Contacts

 

  1. Transfer the music, song, or sound file, to the Ringtones folder on your device.
  2. From any Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
  3. Tap the People tab.
  4. Select the desired contact.
  5. Under 'Options,' tap Ringtone.
  6. Navigate to and select the desired file.
  7. Tap Apply.

 

Ringtone for all calls - From Music Player

  1. Transfer the music, song, or sound file to the Music folder on your device.
  2. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  3. Scroll to and tap Music.
  4. Navigate to the desired file.
  5. Tap the circular Options icon (three dots) next to the desired file.
  6. Tap Set as ringtone.
  7. Tap Contact ringtone.

 

 

Transfer music or sounds to use

 

Some devices require you to transfer music, sounds, or other audio files to the device in a certain way for it to be used for ringtones and notifications. To transfer these files, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect the device to a computer using the USB cable.
  2. On the computer when the AutoPlay window appears, click Open device to view files using Windows Explorer.
    Note: If the AutoPlay window does not appear automatically, check that the USB cable is completely plugged in, or try another USB port.
  3. In the Windows Explorer window that opens, double-click the Internal storage folder.
  4. Copy the music or sound files from your computer to the desired folder.
  5. When you are done copying, click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray.
  6. Click Eject.
  7. Disconnect the device from the computer.
