Developer options

Turn off developer options

If developer options are turned on, it can cause a red border on the screen, errors when connecting to computers, or other problems. To turn off all developer options, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Scroll down to and tap Developer options.
  4. Tap the switch in the upper right corner to turn off.

Language

Change language

To change the language of the device and menus, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Scroll down to and tap Language & keyboard.
  4. Tap System language.
  5. Select the desired language.

First time use

Prepare the battery and SIM card

Note: This device has an internal battery that does not require any preparation.
Before using the device, you need to insert the SIM card. To prepare the SIM card, see these steps:

 

 

 

Setup wizard

After turning on your device the first time, you may see a setup wizard to help you set up your device. To do this initial setup, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch the ring on the screen and slide up to unlock.
  2. Select the desired language, then tap Next.
  3. Insert the SIM card, or tap Skip.
  4. Review the Collect Diagnostics screen.
  5. Select or clear the 'Yes, I want to share' option, then tap Next.
  6. Review the Use Google location screen.
  7. Select or clear the location options, then tap Next.
  8. Review the Location consent details, and select one of the following:
    • Disagree
    • Agree
  9. Review the Schedule sync screen and select one of the following:
    • Automatically sync data
    • Manually sync data
  10. Tap Next.
  11. If necessary, select one of the following to edit:
    • Set date
    • Select time zone
    • Set time
  12. Tap Finish.

Time & date

Auto-update time (NITZ)

To set the device clock to automatically update based on what time zone it is in, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Scroll down to and tap Date & time.
  4. Tap Automatic date & time to turn on.
    Note: When NITZ is active, a blue check mark appears.

 

 

Set time & date

To set the time and date of the device clock, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Scroll down to and tap Date & time.
  4. If necessary, tap Automatic date & time to turn off automatic update.
  5. Tap Set date.
  6. Touch and slide the number wheels to set the current date.
  7. Tap OK.
  8. Tap Set time.
  9. Touch and slide the number wheels to set the current time.
  10. Tap OK.
  11. If desired, select Use 24-hour format.
  12. If desired, tap Choose date format and select one of the following:
    • 12/31/2011
    • 31/12/2011
    • 2011/12/31
    • Sat, Dec 31, 2011
    • Sat, 31 Dec 2011
    • 2011 Dec 31, Sat
