Bluetooth

Pair Bluetooth device

To turn on Bluetooth and pair with a headset or other device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. If necessary, under Wireless & networks, tap the Bluetooth switch to turn on.
  4. Tap Bluetooth.
  5. Tap Scan for devices.
  6. From the list, tap the device with which you want to pair.
  7. When prompted enter the PIN and tap OK.
  8. On the other device, accept the pairing.

 

 

Turn on / off Bluetooth

To turn on or turn off Bluetooth, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. Under Wireless & networks, tap the Bluetooth switch to turn off.

Emergency Alerts

Turn on / off Emergency Alerts

To turn on or turn off Emergency Alert messages that push to the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  2. Tap CMAS.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. To turn off imminent and extreme alerts, tap Imminent threat alerts and then tap Off.
  6. To turn on, tap Imminent threat alerts and then tap All alerts on or Extreme alerts only.
  7. To turn on Amber alerts, tap Amber alerts to select the Check box.
  8. To turn off Amber alerts, tap Amber alerts to clear the Check box.

    Note: Presidential alerts are automatically turned on and cannot be disabled.

GPS

Turn on / off GPS

To turn on or turn off GPS, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. Tap Location access.
    Turn on
  4. To turn on, tap the Access to my location Switch to On. If desired, tap to adjust  the GPS satelites and Wi-Fi & mobile network location settings. Tap Agree
    Turn off
  5. To turn off, tap the Access to my location Switch to Off. The GPS satelites and Wi-Fi & mobile network location settings are automatically turned off as well.

Network

APN & data settings

To set the Access Point Name (APN) and turn on data settings, follow these steps:

 

Turn on data settings

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. If necessary, tap the Airplane mode Switch to Off.
  4. If necessary, tap the Power Saver Switch to Off.
    Note: Some power saving applications automatically turn off your APN and data connection if the power gets low.
  5. Tap More.
  6. Tap Mobile networks.
  7. If necessary, tap Data enabled to select the Check box.
  8. If you are roaming outside the T-Mobile network, tap Data roaming to select the Check box.

    Note: You will incur charges if you are roaming internationally.

 

Select an APN

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. Under Wireless & networks, tap More.
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
  5. Tap Access point names.
  6. Tap the desired access point name.


Restore default APN settings

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. Under Wireless & networks, tap More.
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
  5. Tap Access point names.
    Note: You need to create a blank APN to access the reset to default setting.
  6. Tap the Menu key and then tap New APN.
  7. In the Name field, enter a pretend name.
  8. In the APN field, enter a pretend APN.
  9. Tap the Menu key and then tap Save.
  10. Tap the Menu key and then tap Reset to default.
  11. Tap Yes.

 

 

Manual network selection

To manually select the wireless network the device connects to, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. Under Wireless & networks, tap More.
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
  5. Tap Network operators.
  6. Tap Search networks.
  7. Tap the network you want to use.

 

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

 

 

Switch 2G / 4G

To change the band between 2G and 4G, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. Under Wireless & networks, tap More.
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
  5. Choose one of the following options:

    • Tap Use only 2G networks to select the Check box and only use 2G networks.

    • Tap Network mode.
      • Tap one of the following options:
      • GSM/WCDMA (auto mode)
      • GSM only

 

 

Turn on / off Airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows you to use apps and menus, but not make calls or use the internet.

 

To turn on or turn off airplane mode, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. To turn on, tap the Airplane mode Switch to On.
  4. To turn off, tap the Airplane mode Switch to Off.

 

 

Turn on / off data roaming

To turn on or turn off data roaming, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. Under Wireless & networks, tap More.
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
  5. To turn on, tap Data roaming to select the Check box and then tap Yes.
  6. To turn off, tap Data roaming to clear the Check box.

System Manager (Carrier IQ)

Opt in / out of System Manager

System Manager makes it easier for T-Mobile to help with problems that happen when using your device. To opt in or opt out of System Manager, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System Settings.
  3. Tap Backup & reset.
  4. Tap Collect diagnostics.
  5. To opt in, tap Allow Diagnostics to select the Check box.
  6. To opt out, tap Allow Diagnostics to clear the Check box.

Wi-Fi

Delete Wi-Fi network profile

To delete a saved Wi-Fi network profile, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System Settings.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Touch and hold on the Wi-Fi network.
  5. Tap Forget network.

 

 

Scan & connect to Wi-Fi network

To scan for and connect to available Wi-Fi networks, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. Under Wireless & networks, tap the Wi-Fi Switch to turn on.
  4. Tap Wi-Fi.
  5. If necessary, tap Search.
  6. Scroll to and tap the Wi-Fi network to which you want to connect.
  7. If prompted, enter the password.
  8. Tap Connect.

 

 

Turn on / off Wi-Fi

To turn on or turn off Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. To turn on, tap the Wi-Fi Switch to On.
  4. To turn off, tap the Wi-Fi Switch to Off.

 

 

W-Fi indicators

To determine when you have an active Wi-Fi connection, refer to these icons:
