    Understanding iOS software version

    Apple software updates for iOS introduce new features and improvements that lets you do even more with their iPhone, iPad and other iOS devices. Updating the software on an iOS device is easy.

     

    You can update in two ways:

     

    • Over the air (OTA) update: This is done wirelessly over Wi-Fi.
    • iTunes (manual) update: This is done by connecting iPhone to a computer and using iTunes. The computer must have access to the internet.

    T-Mobile Carrier Update

    Version

    • Carrier version T-Mobile 14.2
    • Compatible with iOS software version 6.1.X
      • This update will not change the software version on your device.
    • Updated 06/27/2013
    • Available to all eligible iPhones using a T-Mobile SIM card

     

    Improvements

    • Removes CMAS settings for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 devices.
    • These settings were removed as the devices do not support CMAS.

     

    Prerequisites

    • T-Mobile iPhone or any officially unlocked GSM iPhone
    • Latest iOS software version
    • Device software is not jailbroken
    • 50% battery life or connected to a power source
    • Data connection or a computer with iTunes and internet access
    • Minimum of 1 MB available memory (File size of update is ~10 KB)

    • Updated 02/21/2014

     

    Improvements

     

    Prerequisites

    • Apple iPhone 3GS
      • Note: This update is currently not available for other iPhone devices.
    • Device software is not jailbroken
    • 50% battery life or connected to a power source
    • Wi-Fi data connection or a computer with iTunes and internet access
    • 50MB available memory (File size of update is 35.4 MB)
