Back up data

Back up apps

To back up your apps, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. Scroll to 'PERSONAL,' and then tap Backup & reset.
  4. Select the Back up my data check box.
  5. If necessary, tap Backup account to add or edit the account you want app information sent to.

 

 

Back up contacts

To back up your contacts, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the People icon.
  2. If necessary, tap the Contacts tab.
  3. Tap the Menu key, and then tap Manage contacts.
  4. Perform one of the following actions:
    • Save contacts to SIM or other account
      Note: SIM contacts will only store 1 phone number per contact.
      1. Tap Copy contacts.
      2. Tap Phone.
      3. Tap SELECT ALL.
      4. Tap COPY.
      5. Select the desired location.
      6. Tap OK.
    • Save contacts to SD card
      1. Tap Export to storage.
      2. Tap OK.

 

 

Back up media & pictures

To back up your media and pictures, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect the device to a computer using the USB cable.
  2. From the Home screen, touch the Notification bar and slide down.
  3. Tap Touch for other USB options.
  4. Tap Media device (MTP).
  5. On a PC computer when the AutoPlay window appears, click Open device to view files using Windows Explorer.
    Note: If the window does not appear automatically, check that the USB cable is completely plugged in, or try another USB port.
  6. Click OK.
  7. In the Windows Explorer window that opens, double-click Internal system storage.
  8. Drag and drop the files you want to back up into a folder on your computer.
  9. When finished transferring files, on the phone tap USB storage device.
  10. On the computer, click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray.
  11. Click Eject.
  12. Disconnect the device from the computer.

 

 

 

Restore data

Restore apps

To restore backed up apps, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap System settings.
  3. Scroll to 'PERSONAL,' then tap Backup & reset.
  4. Select the Automatic restore check box.
  5. If necessary, tap Backup account to edit or add an account to retrieve data from.

 

 

Restore contacts

To restore backed up contacts, follow these steps:

 

From an SD card

  1. From any Home screen, tap the People icon.
  2. If necessary, tap the Contacts tab.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Manage contacts.
  5. Tap Import from storage.
  6. If necessary, tap Phone.
  7. Select contacts to import.
    Note: If necessary, tap Select all.
  8. Tap OK.

 

 

From a SIM card

  1. From any Home screen, tap the People icon.
  2. If necessary, tap the Contacts tab in the middle.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Manage contacts.
  5. Tap Copy from SIM card.
  6. Select the desired contacts, and then tap COPY.
    Note: If necessary, tap SELECT ALL.
  7. Tap Phone.

 

 

Restore media & pictures

To restore backed up media and pictures, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect the device to a computer using the USB cable.
  2. From the Home screen, touch the Notification bar and slide down.
