Battery

Battery – Charge

If the battery level is below 25%, use the AC adapter instead of a car charger or USB cable.
To charge the battery, follow these steps:

  1. Plug the small end of the USB cable into the USB/Charging port on the bottom of your phone. Plug the other end of the USB cable into a USB port on your computer.

 

Battery – Insert / remove

To insert the battery, follow these steps:

  1. Power off the phone.
  2. Remove the back cover using the notch located at the back of the phone at top-right.

  4. Pull the back cover up and away from the phone.

  6. Insert the battery while ensuring gold contacts align with the device contacts.

  8. Replace the back cover.

 

To remove the battery, follow these steps:

  1. Power off the phone.
  2. Remove the back cover using the notch located at the rear of the phone at top-right.

  6. Remove the battery using the notch located at the bottom of the battery compartment.

Battery Manager – Access

To access the Battery Manager, follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Power saving.

 

Battery Manager – Change battery profile

To change the Battery Manager profile, follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Power saving.
  4. Tap System power saving to select check box and enable System power saving and tap OK.
  5. Tap Custom power saving to select check box and enable custom power saving.
  6. Note: if Custom power saving is enabled, tap Custom power saving settings to adjust the custom settings.

 

Battery Manager – Set battery profile options

To set the options for the Battery Manager profile, follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Power saving.
  4. Tap Custom power saving to select check box and enable custom power saving.
  5. Tap Custom power saving settings.
  6. Tap Power saving starts at.
  7. Tap to select one of the following options:
    • 10% battery power
    • 20% battery power
    • 30% battery power
    • 40% battery power
    • 50% battery power
  8. Tap to select and enable or clear and disable the check box for the following features when Custom power saving mode is enabled:
    • Turn off Wi-Fi
    • Turn off Bluetooth
    • Turn off GPS
    • Turn off Sync
    • Brightness
      1. Tap Brightness
      2. Tap to select one of the following options:
        • 10%
        • 30%
        • 50%
        • 70%
        • 100%
  9. Tap Screen timeout.
  10. Tap to select one of the following options:
    • 15 seconds
    • 30 seconds
    • 1 minute
    • 2 minutes
    • 5 minutes
    • 10 minutes

SIM card

Related error: 'Insert SIM'

To insert the SIM card, follow these steps:

  1. Power off the phone.
  2. Remove the back cover using the notch located at the back of the phone at top-right.

  6. Remove the battery using the notch located at the bottom of the battery compartment.

  8. Insert the SIM card with gold contacts facing down and jagged edge facing bottom of phone.

  10. Slide the SIM card into place.

Liquid damage indicator (LDI)

Every T-Mobile device has an indicator that shows if it has been subjected to liquid, thereby voiding the warranty.

To view the Liquid Damage Indicator (LDI), remove the back cover and battery from your device.

Refer to the following illustrations to read the label:

Memory

Set default memory location

To set the default memory location for the Camera, Camcorder and Voice recorder, follow these steps:

Camera and Camcorder

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap Camera.
  3. Tap the Settings icon (gear).
  4. Tap Storage.
  5. Tap one of the following options:
    • Phone
    • Memory card
  6. Note: Changing the Camera default storage location also changes the Camcorder default storage location.

 

Voice recorder

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap Voice recorder.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Tap one of the following options:
    • Device
    • Memory card

 

Task Manager

The Task Manager application shows the amount of free and used memory on the device, and it shuts down running applications to free up memory. To use the Task Manager, follow these steps:

Access

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Applications.

 

End Applications

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Applications.
  4. Tap from the following options:
    • Downloaded tab
    • On SD card tab
    • Running tab
    • All tab
  5. Tap the desired application.
  6. Tap Stop or Uninstall.
  7. Tap OK.

 

View device memory – Phone book

To view the amount of free memory and used memory in the phone book, follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Storage.
  4. Under Device memory, tap Applications.
  5. Tap the Menu key.
  6. Tap a-z sort by name.
  7. Scroll to and tap Contacts Storage.

 

View device memory – Phone book on SIM card – Not supported

To view the memory status (the amount of free memory and used memory), follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Storage.
  4. Under Pictures, videos, view the phone memory used by pictures and videos.

Access files – On card using computer

To view files on a memory card using a computer, follow these steps:

  1. Connect your USB cable to your phone and then to your computer.
  2. On your computer, if a pop up window appears, double-click on the Open device to view files using Windows explorer folder.
  3. Otherwise, on your computer, navigate to your phone’s memory card folder.
  4. Note: If you have an external memory card installed, two icons will display: one icon for the internal phone memory and one icon for the external card memory (SD card).
  5. Double-click on the desired folder and files.
  6. Remove the USB cable from the computer and your phone.

 

Access files – On card using device

To view files on a memory card using the device, follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap My files.
  3. Tap the external_sd (external memory card) folder.
  4. Navigate to the desired folder and file.

 

Delete files – On card using computer

To delete files on a memory card using a computer, follow these steps:

  1. Connect your USB cable to your phone and then to your computer.
  2. On your computer, if a pop up window appears, double-click on the Open device to view files using Windows explorer folder.
  3. Otherwise, on your computer, navigate to your phone’s memory card folder.
  4. Note: If you have an external memory card installed, two icons will display: one icon for the internal phone memory and one icon for the external card memory (SD card).
  5. Double-click on the Card icon
  6. Navigate to the desired files.
  7. Click one time on the desired file.
  8. Right-click on the file and click Delete.
  9. Click Yes.
  10. Disconnect the USB cord from the phone and the computer.

 

 

Delete files – On card using device

To delete single files on a memory card using the device, follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap My files.
  3. Tap the external_sd (external memory card) folder.
  4. Navigate to the desired folder and file.
  5. Touch and hold on the file.
  6. Note: To delete an entire folder, touch and hold on a folder.
  7. Tap Delete.
  8. Tap OK.

 

OR (Delete multiple files at once)

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap My files.
  3. Tap the external_sd (external memory card) folder.
  4. Navigate to the desired folder.
  5. Tap the Menu key.
  6. Tap Delete.
  7. Tap to select each file to be deleted.
  8. Tap Delete.
  9. Tap OK.

 

 

Insert / remove memory card

To insert the memory card, follow these steps:

  1. Power off the phone.
  2. Remove the back cover using the notch located at the rear of the phone at top-right.

  6. Remove the battery using the notch located at the bottom of the compartment.

  8. Insert the memory card into the slot with gold contacts facing down (toward front of phone).

  10. Gently slide the memory card towards top of phone into the slot until you hear a click.

  12. The memory card is now inserted.

  14. Replace battery by aligning gold contacts with the compartment.

  16. Replace back cover.

 

To remove the memory card, follow these steps;

  1. Power off the phone.

Move files – Card to computer

To copy files from a memory card to a computer using a USB cable, follow these steps:

  1. Connect your USB cable to your phone and then to your computer.
  2. On your computer, if a pop up window appears, double-click on the Open device to view files using Windows explorer folder.
  3. Otherwise, on your computer, navigate to your phone’s memory card folder.
  4. Note: If you have an external memory card installed, two icons will display: one icon for the internal phone memory and one icon for the external card memory (SD card).
  5. Double-click on the memory card icon.
  6. Click to navigate to the desired file(s).
  7. Click and then drag and drop the desired folder or files to your computer desktop or desired location.
  8. Remove the USB cable from the computer and your phone.

 

Move files – Card to device

To copy files from a memory card to the internal memory, follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap My files.
  3. Tap the external_sd (external memory card) folder.
  4. Navigate to the desired folder and file.
  5. Touch and hold on the file.
  6. Note: If desired, touch and hold on a folder to copy a folder.
  7. Tap Copy or Move. Phone auto-directs you back to the My files main screen and ‘Paste here’ appears at the bottom of the screen.
  8. Navigate to the desired folder.
  9. Note: Do not navigate to the external_sd (external memory card) folder.
  10. Tap Paste here.
  11. The copied file is now pasted into the phone memory folder.

 

Move files – Computer to card

To copy files from a computer to a memory card using a USB cable, follow these steps:

  1. Connect your USB cable to your phone and then to your computer.
  2. On your computer, if a pop up window appears, double-click on the Open device to view files using Windows explorer folder.
  3. Otherwise, on your computer, navigate to your phone’s memory card folder.
  4. Note: If you have an external memory card installed, two icons will display: one icon for the internal phone memory and one icon for the external card memory (SD card).
  5. Double-click on the memory card icon.
  6. Double-click on the desired file location.
  7. From your computer, drag and drop the desired files into the memory card folder.
  8. Remove the USB cable from the computer and your phone.

 

Move files – Device to card

To copy files from the internal memory to a memory card, follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap My files.
  3. Navigate to the desired folder and file.
  4. Note: Do not tap on the external_sd (external memory card) folder.
  5. Touch and hold on the file.
  6. Note: If desired, touch and hold on a folder to copy a folder.
  7. Tap Copy. Phone auto-directs you back to the My files main screen and ‘Paste here’ or ‘Move here’ appears at the bottom of the screen.
  8. Tap the external_sd (external memory card) folder.
  9. Navigate to the desired folder.
  10. Tap Paste here.
  11. The copied file is now pasted into the external SD card (external memory card).

 

View available memory

To view the amount of free and used space on a memory card, follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Storage.
  4. Under SD card, view the Total space and Available values.

 

USB settings

To change the USB connection settings on the device, follow these steps:

  1. Insert one end of the USB cable into your phone’s USB slot.
  2. Insert the other end of the USB cable into your computer’s USB slot.
  3. Connected as a media device appears in the Status bar.
  4. Touch and drag down the Status bar.
  5. Tap Connected as a media device.
  6. Tap the following options to select or clear the check box and enable or disable:
    • Media device (MTP)
    • Camera (PTP)
