To turn off Bluetooth connectivity, follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the Home key.
  2. Scroll to and select Comm Manager.
  3. Scroll to and select Bluetooth to turn on and off.

How to turn on and pair with a Bluetooth device

 

To turn on and pair a Bluetooth connection with another device, follow these steps:

 

  1. Press and hold the Home key.
  2. Scroll to and select Comm Manager.
  3. Scroll to and select Bluetooth to turn Bluetooth on if it is off.
  4. Select Settings.
  5. Scroll to and select Bluetooth.
  6. Select Bluetooth again.
  7. Select Add New Device. Your device searches for nearby available devices.
  8. Note: Verify that the device you want to connect to is on and in pairing mode.
  9. Scroll to and select the desired device.
  10. Enter the passcode for the device if prompted.
      Note: Refer to the documentation for your Bluetooth device for information about the passcode.
  11. Select Next.

Data Synchronization

Synchronization – Microsoft ActiveSync NEW

 

How to use ActiveSync

 

ActiveSync helps you synchronize files between your computer and your device.

You can synchronize e-mail, calendar, contacts, and tasks directly with your computer by connecting your device to your computer using the USB cable. Before you can synchronize using the USB cable, you must first install Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 or higher on your computer.

Note: Windows VistaTM users can install the application Windows Mobile Device Center instead of Microsoft ActiveSync.

ActiveSync is a synchronization program that allows you to:

  • Synchronize your e-mail, calendar, tasks, contacts, and Internet Explorer favorites
  • Copy files between your device and your computer
  • Install applications on your device
  • Back up and restore device information

 

Install Microsoft ActiveSync

The CD that comes with your device contains the Microsoft ActiveSync software. To install:

  1. Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive in your computer.
  2. Follow the instructions on the CD to install ActiveSync and Microsoft Outlook if you do not already have it installed on your computer.

 

Connect device to computer

  1. Plug the USB cable into the sync connector port on the left side of your device.
  2. Plug the other end of the USB cable into a USB port on your computer.
  3. ActiveSync on your computer will automatically detect your device and launch the setup wizard.

  4. Click Next.

  6. Enter your server address, user name, password, and domain.

  8. Place a check in the check box next to the data that you want to synchronize.

  10. Place a check in the check box to allow wireless data connections while connected to your computer via the USB cable.

  12. Click Finish. ActiveSync launches and synchronizes your data.
  13. If prompted, select to combine or replace the data on your device with the data in Outlook and click OK.

Back up data using ActiveSync

 

To back up files to a personal computer, perform the following steps:

 

  1. Plug the USB cable into the T-Mobile Dash 3G.
  2. From the Microsoft ActiveSync window, click the Sync icon on the device to initiate an ActiveSync session.

  3. After ActiveSync has completed, scroll to and select Tools.
  4. In the Tools menu, scroll to and select Explore Device.
    Note: All the folders stored on  the device will appear in the Mobile Device folder.
  5. Select the desired content that you would like to store on the computer, and then transfer the content from each of the folders.
    Note: You can cut and paste, drag  and drop, or use other transfer methods. You may transfer individual files or entire folders.

  6. Once all the content has been transferred, you can unplug the device.

To turn on or turn off the Global Positioning System (GPS), follow these steps:

 

    1. From the Home screen, select Start.
    2. Scroll to and select Google Maps.
    3. Select Accept and OK.
    4. Select Menu.
    5. Scroll to and select Use GPS.
    6. To turn off GPS, perform the following:
      • Select Menu.
      • Select Use GPS again to remove the check mark.

    : Turning off GPS saves battery power.

Use QuickGPS to speed up finding your GPS location. QuickGPS downloads the latest satellite data via an Internet connection to determine your location more quickly.

 

To download QuickGPS:

 

  1. From the Home screen, select Start.
  2. Scroll to and select QuickGPS.

  1. From the Home screen, select Start.
  2. Scroll to and select Google Maps.

  5. Scroll to and select Start Point.
  6. Enter a Start Point city or address.
  7. Select OK.
  8. Scroll and select an End Point.
  9. Enter an End Point city or address.
  10. Select OK.
  11. Scroll to and select Show Directions.
  12. Select See map to view on map.

  1. From the Home screen, select Start.
  2. Scroll to and select TeleNav.
  3. Read the Terms of Service and select Accept.
  4. Enter your first name, last name, and e-mail address.
  5. Select Go.
  6. Read the trial information and select OK.
  7. Read the warning and select Go.
  8. Select Yes to tour TeleNav features, if desired. Select No to go directly to TeleNav.

Microsoft My Phone

Microsoft My Phone synchronizes information between your device and a password protected Web site hosted by Microsoft. You can find your lost device, backup and restore your contacts, calendar appointments, photos, and more.

 

Note: You can sync contacts, calendar, and tasks with My Phone only if your device does not have a sync partnership with an Exchange Server.

 

Set up

  1. From the Home screen, select Start.
  2. Scroll to and select Microsoft My Phone.
  3. Select Next.
  4. Select Accept.
  5. Enter your Windows Live ID and password.
      Note: If you do not have a Windows Live ID or e-mail account, scroll to and select Create a new Windows Live ID.
  6. Select Sign in.
  7. Select Next.
  8. Select Select a synchronization method.
  9. Select Automatic or Manual.
  10. Select Next.
  11. Select Finish.
  12. If necessary, select Yes to install updates.
  13. Select Ok to restart your phone.

 

Set data to synchronize

  1. From the Home screen, select Start.
  2. Scroll to and select Microsoft My Phone.
  3. Read What’s new and select Done.
  4. Select Menu.
  5. Scroll to and select Sync Options.
  6. Select or clear the check boxes next to the following options:
    • Current location
    • Contacts
    • Calendar
    • Tasks
    • Text messages
    • Browser Favorites

  7. Select Done.

 

Change synchronization schedule

  1. From the Home screen, select Start.
  2. Scroll to and select Microsoft My Phone.

  4. Select Menu.
  5. Scroll to and select Sync Schedule.
  6. Select Frequency.
  7. Select one of the following options:
    • Manual
    • Daily
    • Weekly
  8. If applicable, scroll to and select Day.
  9. Select the desired day of the week.
  10. Scroll to Time.
  11. Enter the desired time.
  12. Select or clear the Use these settings when roaming check box.
  13. Select Done

 

Synchronize manually

  1. From the Home screen, select Start.
  2. Scroll to and select Microsoft My Phone.
  3. Select Sync.

 

Stop using My Phone

  1. From the Home screen, select Start.
  2. Scroll to and select Microsoft My Phone.
  3. Read What’s new and select Done.
