  1. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
  2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap All Settings.

  6. Tap the Backlight tab.
  7. Tap Auto adjust backlight to clear the check box.
  8. Touch and slide left or right to adjust the backlight brightness for battery power.

Airplane mode

 

How to turn on or turn off airplane mode

 

Airplane mode turns off the wireless radio. This allows you to use programs while travelling on an airplane, but not make or receive calls. To turn on or turn off airplane mode, follow these steps:

  2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap Communications.
  4. Tap Airplane Mode to turn on or off.

Change band

 

How to change the frequency of the band selection

 

When travelling outside of North America, your device must use the 900 MHz/1800 MHz GSM frequency band to get a signal from an international carrier. When the device is turned off and then back on, band selection is automatic. If automatic band selection fails, follow these steps to manually change the band selection:

 

  1. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
  2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap Communications.
  4. Tap Phone.
  5. Tap Band.
  6. Tap a band setting:
    • Auto
    • GSM(900+1800)+UMTS(900+2100)
    • GSM(1900+850)+UMTS(1900+850)
    • UMTS(2100+800)

 

Data roaming

Manual network selection

 

How to perform a manual network selection to register on a network

To manually select the wireless network the device connects to, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
  2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap All settings.
  4. Tap the Personal tab.
  5. Tap Phone.
  6. Tap the Network tab.
  7. Tap the drop down list under Network selection.
  8. Tap Manual. The device searches for available networks.
  9. Tap the desired network.
  10. Tap OK.

 

Note: The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

Hard Reset

How to perform a hard reset

 

Hard reset

 

A hard reset restores the original factory settings and erases all downloaded content, including ringtones, images, programs, and contacts stored in the internal memory. It does not erase data stored on the SIM card or memory card (if available). To perform a hard reset, follow these steps:

 

  1. Back up all necessary data on the internal memory.
  2. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
  3. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
  4. Tap All Settings.
  5. Tap the System tab.
  6. Tap Clear Storage
  7. Enter the numbers 1234.
  8. Tap Yes.

 

Hard or master reset using hardware keys

 

  1. Back up all necessary data on the internal memory.
  2. Press and hold the Power key to turn the device off.
  3. Press and hold the Talk/Send + End + Power keys until you see the message, ’This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press Vol Up to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.’
  4. Release all buttons.
  5. Press the Volume up key to perform the hard reset.
  6. Pres the Volume up key to reboot phone

 

Soft Reset

 

How to perform a soft reset

 

A soft reset clears and shuts down all active programs. This can help when the device is running slower than normal or not performing properly. To perform a soft reset, follow these steps:

 

  1. Save any files that are open.
  2. Use the stylus to press the red Reset button on the side of the device.

How to change the default SIM PIN code

 

To change the default SIM PIN code, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
  2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap All Settings.
  4. Tap the Personal tab.
  5. Tap Phone.
  6. Tap the PIN/PIN2 tab.
  7. Tap Change PIN.
  8. From Old PIN, enter the old PIN.
    1. Note: The default PIN is 1234.
  9. Tap New PIN.
  10. Enter the new PIN.
  11. Tap Confirm new PIN.
  12. Enter the new PIN again.
  13. When finished, tap ok in the upper right corner of the screen.

 

Lock – Application lock

How to lock and unlock the keypad

 

Locking the keypad protects against accidental key presses. No password is required to unlock the keypad. To lock and unlock the keypad, follow these steps:

To lock the keypad:

 

Press and hold the red End key.

 

To unlock the keypad:

 

  1. Tap Unlock.
  2. Tap Unlock again or press the Star * key.

How to turn on or turn off the phone lock

 

Phone lock causes the device to lock when you turn it off. When you turn the device back on, you must enter a password. To turn on or turn off the phone lock, follow these steps:

 

To lock

 

  1. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
  2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap All Settings.
  4. Tap the Personal tab.
  5. Tap Lock.
  6. Select the Prompt if device unused for check box.
  7. Tap the time drop down box.
  8. Tap the desired time.
  9. Tap the Password Type drop down box.
  10. Tap Simple PIN or Strong alphanumeric.
  11. Tap Password.
  12.   Enter your password.
  13. Tap Confirm.
  14. Enter your password again.
  15. If desire, tap the Hint tab and enter a hint.
  16. When finished, tap OK in the upper right corner of the screen.
  17. Tap Yes to confirm.

 

To unlock

 

  1. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
  2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap All Settings.
  4. Tap the Personal tab.
  5. Tap Lock.
  6. Enter the password.
  7. Tap Unlock.
  8. Clear the Prompt if device unused for check box.
  9. Tap OK in the upper right corner of the screen.
  10. Tap Yes to confirm.

 

Lock – SIM card lock

The SIM PIN code is used to protect the SIM from being used in other devices. When you enable the SIM PIN code, the device prompts you to enter the code after turning it on. To turn on or turn off the SIM card lock, follow these steps:

 

To lock

 

  1. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
  2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap All Settings.
  4. Tap the Personal tab.
  5. Tap Phone.
  6. Tap the PIN/PIN2 tab.
  7. Select the Require PIN when phone is used check box.
  8. Enter the SIM PIN.
    Note: The default SIM PIN is 1234.
  9. When finished, tap OK in the upper right corner of the screen.

 

To unlock

 

  1. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
  2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap All Settings.
  4. Tap the Personal tab.

If you enter the PIN code incorrectly several times in a row, the device blocks you from attempting again. To enter a PUK code and unblock the PIN, follow these steps:

 

Important: You must call T-Mobile Customer Care for the PUK code. Entering the wrong code can permanently damage your SIM card.

 

  1. Contact us to request your PUK code.
  2. When the device displays the message ’SIM card is PUK-Locked. Please contact Customer Care’ tap Emergency Call.
  3. Enter the PUK code.
  4. Enter the new PIN code as desired and tap OK.
  5. Entire the new PIN code again and tap OK.

 

Unblock - SIM (Mobile Device unlock)

 

How to enter a Mobile Device unlock code

The Mobile Device unlock code allows the device to use a SIM card from another wireless carrier. To enter the Mobile Device unlock code, follow these steps:

 

Important: Stop if you receive an error message while performing the instructions below. The device locks permanently if you enter the incorrect code multiple times.

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap Phone..
    Note: If myFaves is off, press the Send key.
  2. Verify the IMEI by entering *#06#.
  3. Submit a new request.
  4. Turn on the phone with the blocked SIM.
    The phone displays a screen to enter the unblock code.
  5. Enter the unblock code.
  6. Tap Unblock.
