Answer call

How to answer or receive a call

 

To answer an incoming call, follow these steps:

 

    • Touch and slide the Center button to Answer.

How to block incoming calls

 

To block calls, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
  2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap Communications.
  4. Tap Phone.
  5. Tap Phone Services.
  6. Tap Call Barring.
  7. Tap Get Settings.
  8. Tap the Block Incoming calls drop down list.
  9. Tap All calls or When roaming.

 

Dial

How to make or dial an outgoing call

 

To make a call, follow these steps:

 

Using the physical keyboard

 

  1. From the Home screen, slide the keyboard open.
  2. Enter the phone number.
  3. Tap Talk to dial.

 

Using the on-screen keypad


  1. From the Home screen, tap Phone.
    Note: If myFaves is off, press the Send key.
  2. Enter the phone number.
  3. Tap Talk to dial.

 

Using the phone book


  1. From the Home screen, tap Phone.
    Note:
    If myFaves is off, press the Send key.
  2. Tap Contacts.
  3. Tap the contact you wish to call.
  4. Tap Call [phone type].

 

Using speed dial


  1. From the Home screen, tap Phone.
    Note:
    If myFaves is off, press the Send key.
  2. Tap and hold the number associated with the contact you want to call.

 

End call

How to end, hang up, or disconnect a call

 

To end a call, tap End call or press the Endkey.

 

Hold call

How to put a call on hold and return to it

 

To put a call on hold and return to it, follow these steps:

During a call, tap Hold.

While on hold, tap Hold.

 

Mute call

How to turn on or turn off mute

 

To turn on or turn off mute during a call, follow these steps:

During a call, tap Mute.

To mute the ringtone or an incoming call, follow these steps:

 

To immediately mute an incoming call's ring, perform one of the following actions:

 

  • Press the Volume key down on the left side of the device.
  • Tap Mute ring.

 

Speakerphone

How to use, turn on, or turn off the speakerphone

 

To turn on or turn off the speakerphone, follow these steps:

 

  1. While on a call, tap the Speaker button to turn on speakerphone.
  2. Tap the Speaker button again to turn off speakerphone.

Caller ID

Incoming caller ID

The device displays the caller’s name and number if the caller’s information is stored in your contacts list. When the caller ID information is not in your contacts list, the device displays only the caller’s number.

 

Outgoing ID - Enable

How to turn on or enable outgoing caller ID

 

To enable outgoing caller ID so people you call can see your number, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
  2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap Communications.
  4. Tap Phone.
  5. Tap Phone Services.
  6. Tap Caller ID.
  7. Tap Get Settings
  8. Under ‘Provide my caller ID to’, tap Everyone or Only to contacts.

 

Outgoing ID - Restrict

How to restrict, turn off, or disable outgoing caller ID

 

To restrict outgoing caller ID so people you call cannot see your number, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
  2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap Communications.
  4. Tap Phone.
  5. Tap Phone Services.
  6. Tap Caller ID.
  7. Tap Get Settings
  8. Under ‘Provide my caller ID to’, tap No one or Only to contacts.

 

Picture ID - Set

How to add or set up picture caller ID for specific callers on incoming calls

 

You can assign picture ID to contacts stored in the phone book, but not to those stored on the SIM card. To assign a picture to a contact, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap Phone.
    Note:
    If myFaves is off, press the Send key.
  2. Tap Contacts.
  3. Tap the contact that you wish to change.
  4. Tap Edit Contact.
  5. Tap the contact icon at the top of the screen.
  6. Tap one of the following:
    • Facebook
    • Album
    • Camera
    • My Pictures
    • My Icons

 

Ringer ID - Set

How to add or set up ringer caller ID for specific callers on incoming calls

 

You can assign ringer ID to contacts stored in the phone book, but not to those stored on the SIM card. To assign a ringer to a contact, follow these steps:

Call forwarding

Forward all calls (unconditional forwarding)

How to set or activate unconditional call forwarding to forward all calls

 

Call Forwarding Unconditional (CFU) immediately forwards all calls to another phone number without allowing the device to ring. To activate unconditional call forwarding, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
  2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap Communications.
  4. Tap Phone.
  5. Tap Phone Services.
  6. Tap Call Forwarding.
  7. Tap Get Settings…
  8. Select the Forward all incoming phone calls check box.
  9. Tap the drop down list.
  10. Tap Voicemail or enter a phone number to forward calls to.

 

Forward some calls (conditional call forwarding)

How to set or activate conditional call forwarding (no reply, busy, unavailable) and seconds to delay

 

Call Forwarding Conditional (CFC) forwards incoming calls to another phone number if you do not or cannot answer them. To activate conditional call forwarding, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
  2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap Communications.
  4. Tap Phone.
  5. Tap Phone Services.
  6. Tap Call Forwarding.
  7. Tap Get Settings…
  8. Under ‘Forward phone calls only if’, select one or more of the following check boxes:
    • No Answer
    • Unavailable
    • Busy
  9. Tap the drop-down list.
  10. Tap Voicemail or enter a phone number to forward calls to.
    • No answer
      1. Tap the drop down list.
      2. Tap Voicemail or enter a phone number to forward calls to.
    • Unavailable
        1. Tap the drop down list.
        2. Tap Voicemail or enter a phone number to forward calls to.
      • Busy

    Forward to voicemail (conditional call forwarding)

    Voicemail forwarding forwards incoming calls to your voicemail so that callers can leave a message. To activate voicemail forwarding, follow these steps:

     

    1. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
    2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
    3. Tap Communications.
    4. Tap Phone.
    5. Tap Phone Services.
    6. Tap Call Forwarding.
    7. Tap Get Settings…
    8. Clear the Forward all incoming phone calls check box.
    9. Under ‘Forward phone calls only if’, clear all check boxes.

    Call Settings

    DTMF tones

    How to turn on or turn off DTMF tones (touch tones)

     

    Your phone can send a number to the network as dual tone multi-frequency (DTMF) tones. DTMF tones are used to communicate with automated systems that require you to type a number such as a code, password, or credit card number.

     

    DTMF tones are supported, but there is no option to turn them on or off.

     

    Fixed dialing

    How to disable fixed dialing

     

    T-Mobile does not support fixed dialing. To disable fixed dialing if you have enabled it, follow these steps:

     

    1. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
    2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
    3. Tap Communications.
    4. Tap Phone.
    5. Tap Phone services.
    6. Tap the Right arrow in the lower right corner until you see the More tab.
    7. Tap the More tab.
    8. Next to ‘Fixed Dialing’, tap the Settings button.
    9. Clear the Enable fixed Dialing check box.
    10. Enter the PIN2.
      Note:
      The default PIN2 is 5678.
    11. Tap Done.

     

    Phone line selection

    Phone line selection is not supported

    Volume - Call

    How to adjust or change the device volume

     

    To raise or lower the volume of the earpiece, press the Volumekeys on the left side of the device while on a call.

     

    Volume - Ring

    How to adjust or change the ringtone volume

     

    To raise or lower the ringtone volume, follow these steps:

     

    From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.

     

    1. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
    2. Tap Sound.
    3. Under Rings, touch and slide the Volume bar to raise or lower the ring volume.

    Call timer

    Reset timer

    Resetting the call timer is not supported

    View timer

    How to view call timers to see the duration of calls on the device

     

    Call timers approximate the time you have used on phone calls. To view call timers, follow these steps:

     

    Note:Call timers do not accurately show how much time T-Mobile bills. T-Mobile charges for connected calls and rounds up to the nearest minute. Call timers count all calls regardless if they connect and count in seconds.

     

    1. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
    2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
    3. Tap All Settings.
    4. Tap the System tab.
    5. Tap Device Information.
    6. Tap the Call Duration tab to view incoming and outgoing call timers.

    Call waiting

    How to turn on or turn off call waiting

     

    While on a call, call waiting alerts you of new incoming calls and allows you to answer them without hanging up. To turn on or turn off call waiting, follow these steps:

     

    1. From the Home screen, touch and hold the active tab.
    2. Slide left or right to the Settings tab.
    3. Tap Communications.
    4. Tap Phone.
    5. Tap Phone Services.
    6. Tap Call Waiting.
    7. Tap Get Settings…
    8. Under ‘When calls are waiting’, tap Notify me or Do not notify me.

    While on a call, call waiting alerts you of new incoming calls and allows you to answer them without hanging up. When you hear the tone alerting you to a new incoming call, touch and slide the Center button to Answer.

    Conference calling

    Have private conversation

    How to have a private conversation with one person while on a conference call or in a three-way call

     

    To speak privately with one caller in a conference call and put the other callers on hold, follow these steps:

     

    1. While on a conference call, tap Menu.
    2. Tap Private.
    3. Tap the number you wish to have a private conversation with.
    4. Tap Private.
    5. To join the calls again, tap Conference.

     

    Start conference call

    How to make a conference call or use three-way calling

     

    Place the first call before using call conferencing. To add additional callers to the conference, follow these steps:

     

    1. While on a call, tap Add Call.
    2. Perform one of the following options.
      • Dial a number
        1. Tap Add call.
        2. Enter the phone number.
        3. Tap Talk to call.
      • Call a contact.
        1. Tap Contacts.
        2. Tap the contact you wish to call.
        3. Tap the phone number you wish to call.
