Brightness

 

To raise or lower the screen brightness, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Help & Settings.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Phone.
  5. Tap Display.

  7. Tap or touch and drag the slider to adjust the brightness.

Duration

 

To increase or decrease the amount of time before the backlight dims, follow these steps:

Turn on / off Airplane mode

 

Airplane mode turns off the wireless radio. This allows you to use programs while traveling on an airplane, but not make or receive calls.

 

To turn on airplane mode, follow these steps:

  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Tone profiles.
  5. Tap Offline.
  6. Tap Activate.

To manually select the wireless network the device connects to, follow these steps:

  7. Tap Manual.
  8. Scroll to and tap the desired network.

 

Note:The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

Reset

Perform master reset

 

 

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may erase all downloaded content, including ringtones, images, programs, and contacts stored in the internal memory. It does not erase data stored on the SIM card or memory card (if available).

 

To perform a hard reset, follow these steps.

 

  1. From any Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Help & Settings.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Phone.
  5. Tap Phone management.
  6. Tap Factory settings.
  7. Tap Restore.
  8. Tap Yes.
    • If prompted, enter Lock code.
  9. Tap OK.

 

Perform master reset - Software Version 024.002

A master clear deletes all user data from the device, including contacts, messages, and downloaded content. This can help when the device is running low on memory.

 

To perform a master clear, follow these steps:

 

Back up all necessary data on the internal memory.

 

  1. From any Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Help & Settings.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Phone.
  5. Tap Phone management.
  6. Tap Factory settings.
  7. Tap Delete data and restore.
  8. Tap Yes.
    • If prompted, enter Lock code.
  9. Tap OK.

 

Perform master clear - Software Version 024.002

 

Note: This procedure may take up to 10 minutes to complete.

 

A master clear deletes all user data from the device, including contacts, messages, and downloaded content. This can help when the device is running low on memory.

 

To perform a master clear, follow these steps:

 

Back up all necessary data that is on the internal memory.

  1. Briefly press the Power key.
  2. Scroll down and tap Offline.
  3. From any Home screen, press the Menu key.
  4. Tap Help & Settings.
  5. Tap Settings.
  6. Tap Phone.
  7. Tap Phone management.
  8. Tap Factory settings.
  9. Tap Delete data and restore.
  10. Tap Yes.
    • If prompted, enter Lock code.
      • Note: There is no default Lock code; if user did not create a Lock code, device will not prompt for one.
  11. Tap OK.

 

Perform master reset using hardware keys

 

To perform Hard Reset (Master Reset) through Hardware Buttons:

 

Important: Hardware Buttons master reset will DELETEpre-installed content and may require you to download & re-install apps from the Ovi Store (if available). Ovi Store app can be downloaded & re-installed from store.ovi.com from the phone Web browser. Worst case, the phone can be sent back to the Nokia Repair Center for software flashing to bring it back to Factory default with all pre-installed content.

 

  1. Make sure the phone is Turned OFF.
  2. Hold 'Menu' + 'Volume down' + 'Camera' keys with one hand.
  3. Then press 'Power' key until the phone vibrates.
  4. Continue holding the first 3 keys and let go of the 'Power' key.
  5. When Nokia logo goes away, you can let go of all keys and Hard Reset is complete.

Data that will be deleted during Hard Reset

  • All user added data on the phone memory (Contacts, Calendar, Apps, etc...)
  • Pre-installed Apps --> Visual VoiceMail, TeleNav, YouTube, AccuWeather, Social, Ovi Maps, Ovi Store, top Apps, Here and Now, CBS News
  • Pre-installed Games --> ALL GAMESunder 'Games' folder (Action Bowling, Labyrinth 3D, Fruit Ninja Lite, Doodle Fit)

 

Perform soft reset

 

A soft reset clears and shuts down all active programs. This can help when the device is running slower than normal or not performing properly.

 

To perform a soft reset, follow these steps:

 

  1. Save any files that are open.
  2. Press and hold the Power key on the top of the device to turn the device off.
  3. After the device has powered down, press and hold the Power key to restart device.

Change - SIM PIN code

To change the default PIN code, follow these steps:

 

The default PIN code is 1234.

 

  1. From any Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Help & Settings.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Phone.
  5. Tap Phone management.
  6. Tap Security settings.
  7. Tap Phone and SIM card.
    • If necessary, tap PIN code request to set it to On.
  8. Tap On.
  9. Enter the PIN code and tap OK.
  10. Tap PIN code.
  11. Enter the PIN code again and tap OK.
  12. Enter the new PIN code and tap OK.
  13. When Verify new PIN message displays, re-enter the new PIN code and tap OK.
  14. The PIN code has now been changed.

 

Change - Security code / Lock code

 

The device requires the security code when you perform a master reset or a master clear. The default security code is 12345. To change the default security code, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Help & Settings.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Phone.
  5. Tap Phone management.
  6. Tap Security settings.
  7. Tap Phone and SIM card.
    • If necessary, tap PIN code request to set it to On.
  8. Tap On.
  9. Enter the PIN code and tap OK.

  11. Enter the PIN code again and tap OK.

  11. Tap the Checkmark icon.

Disable device lock

 

To turn off the device lock, follow these steps:

  2. Tap Help & Settings.

Unblock - PIN (PUK Code)

If you enter the PIN code incorrectly several times in arrow, the device blocks you from attempting again. To enter a Personal Unblocking Key (PUK) code and unblock the PIN, follow these steps:

 

Important: You must call T-Mobile Customer Care for the PUK code. Entering the wrong code can permanently damage your SIM card.

 

  1. Contact Customer Care to request your PUK code.
  2. Enter the PUK code.
  3. Tap OK.
  4. Enter a new PIN code and tap OK.
  5. When Verify new PIN code message displays, re-enter the new PIN code and tap OK.
  6. The PIN code has now been changed.

 

Unblock - SIM (Mobile Device unlock)

The Mobile Device unlock code allows the device to use a SIM card from another wireless carrier. To enter the Mobile Device unlock code,follow these steps:

 

Important: Stop if you receive an error message while performing the instructions below. The device locks permanently if you enter the incorrect code multiple times.

 

  1. Insert the SIM card into the device.
  2. Enter #pw+012345678912345+7#.
    • Note: 012345678912345 is the unlock password for the SIM Lock type. 7 is the SIM Lock type.
  3. Reset the device.

 

Unblock - SIM (Mobile Device unlock) - Software Version 024.002

  8. Enter #.
  9. Press * three times to enter p.
  10. Press * four times to enter w.
  11. Press * twice to enter +.
  12. Enter the unlock code provided by Customer Care.
  13. Press * twice to enter +.
  14. Enter 1.
  15. Enter #.
  16. The display should read "SIM Restriction Off".

Alarm clock - Set

 

To set the alarm clock, follow these steps:

 

  1. Tap the Clock icon on Home screen 1.
  2. Tap New alarm.
  3. Tap Alarm time.
  4. Use the number pad to change the hour, minutes, and AM/PM setting.
  5. Tap the Checkmark icon.
  6. Tap Description to use the keyboard to enter a name for the alarm.
  7. Tap the Checkmark icon.
  8. Tap Repeat and tap to select one of the following options:
    • Not repeated
    • Daily
    • Workdays
    • Weekly
  9. If a weekly repeat is selected, tap Alarm day and tap to select the desired day.

Auto-update (NITZ)

 

Automatic update of time and date (NITZ) checks for the correct time while the device turns on.

To turn on or off NITZ, follow these steps:

 

  1. Tap the Clock icon on Home screen.
  2. Tap Options.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Scroll to and tap Automatic time update to turn updates on or off.

 

Auto-update (NITZ) - Software Version 024.002

 

Automatic update of time and date (NITZ) checks for the correct time while the device turns on.
