Smartphone Mobile Hotspot: Samsung Galaxy Tab A

Set up

  1. Check that Wi-Fi and Smartphone Mobile Hotspot are turned off.
  2. From and home screen, swipe up to view all Apps.
  3. Tap Settings > Connections.
  4. Tap Mobile HotSpot and Tethering.
  5. Tap the Mobile HotSpot slider to turn on.
  6. If prompted, create a Wi-Fi password. When the pop-up window appears:
    1. Tap the Password field.
    2. Enter the password (passwords must be at least eight characters).
    3. Tap Save.
  7. Tap the MORE icon in the top right of the screen.
  8. Tap Allowed devices to manage the devices using your hotspot from the Menu drop down.
  9. Tap to turn on Wi-Fi Sharing to use a Home Wi-Fi network from the Menu drop down.
  10. Tap Configure Mobile Hotspot from the Menu drop down.
  11. Tap to adjust the following settings:
    • Network SSID
    • Broadcast network name (SSID) (on/off)
    • Security
    • Password
    • Show password
    • Show advanced options
      • Broadcast channel
        • 2.4 GHz
        • 5 GHz
        • Auto
          • Select from 1 to 11
      • Maximum connections
        • Select from 1 to 8
      • Timeout settings
        • Never timeout
        • 5 minutes
        • 10 minutes
        • 20 minutes
        • 30 minutes
        • 60 minutes
  12. Once finished adjusting settings, tap SAVE.
  13. Tap the Mobile HotSpot Switch to turn on.
  14. If desired, tap OK read the First Time Use details or tap Cancel to proceed.
  15. The Mobile HotSpot Switch slides right and turns green.


Turn on / off

  1. From any Home screen, swipe up to view all Apps.
  2. Tap Settings > Connections.
  3. Tap Mobile HotSpot and Tethering.
  4. Tap Mobile HotSpot.
  5. Move the slider to the ON or OFF position.
