Get help with Bluetooth & Near Field Communication (NFC), features that let devices talk to each other just by being next to each other. 

Steps for all issues

  1. Uninstall any apps you downloaded around the time the problem started.
  2. Check that your device has the latest software update using our tutorials.
  3. Check that Airplane mode is off.
  4. Remove any cases or covers from your device.
  5. Restart your device and the device you are trying to pair with.

If you're still having issues, choose your scenario:

 

Can't turn NFC on or off

 
  1. Check our Tutorials to make sure you're following the right steps to use NFC.
  2. Open the app store, and download all available updates.
  3. If you still can't turn on or turn off NFC in device settings, contact the device manufacturer.
 

NFC doesn't connect

 
  1. Check our Tutorials to make sure you're following the right steps to use NFC.
  2. Place the NFC device and your phone within 1 inch of each other, with nothing between them.
  3. Try turning off Bluetooth, Smartphone Mobile Hotspot, and any other connections you have turned on.
  4. If NFC is turned on but your apps still aren't working, contact the company that created the NFC app you're using.
 

Can't turn Bluetooth on or off

 
  1. Check our Tutorials to make sure you're following the right steps to use Bluetooth.
  2. Turn off and turn on Bluetooth in your device settings.   
  3. If you have an Android device, wipe the cache partition.
  4. If you have an Apple device, choose Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
 

Can't pair with another Bluetooth device

 
  1. Check our Tutorials to make sure you're following the right steps to use Bluetooth.   
  2. Make sure the devices are within 10 feet of each other, with nothing between them.
  3. Put the accessory into discoverable mode. Check if the devices show as paired in the Bluetooth menu.
  4. Open the Bluetooth menu, search for new devices, and find the accessory to pair.
  5. If it asks for a PIN or passkey, check the accessory user manual or contact the manufacturer (common passkeys you can try are 0000 and 1111),
  6. If the devices were previously paired, remove the saved connection so you can make a new one.
  7. If you have an Apple device, choose Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
