The FamilyMode app sends text message notifications to the Parent or Child lines for certain events. Use the tables on this page to learn more about how FamilyMode messages are triggered and what they mean.

Notifications sent to Parent

Trigger actions that send a message to the Parent in the FamilyMode app.
Message Trigger
[Name] has reached their daily time limit.

When a daily time limit for a profile is reached.

[Name] has reached their daily time limit for [Platform].

When a platform time limit for a profile is reached.

Your Home Base has been reset to factory defaults.

When a factory reset is performed.

Your Home Base has been turned off.

When Home base is powered off.

Your Home Base battery is running low.

When battery is low. "Is low" determined by the firmware.

A new device [Hostname] has joined your network.

When a new device joins your network.

[Device] is now able to manage FamilyMode.

When a new admin joins your network.

A new device is now able to manage FamilyMode When an unknown admin joins your network.

FamilyMode has been manually disabled on [Device].

When the VPN is manually disabled on an iOS device, admins will receive a G_manualstop notification.

FamilyMode is active again on [Device] after being manually disabled.

When the VPN restarts after being manually disabled on an iOS device, admins will receive a G_startafterstop notification.

Your Home Base is back online.

When Home Base comes back online after being flagged as offline.

[Device] is enabled with Family Mode.

When a new device registers for the first time, admins will receive a notification.

FamilyMode has been updated on [Device]. FamilyMode app updated on the device.
FamilyMode has been removed from [Device].

When a device is removed, admins will receive a 'removed device' notification. This action is initiated by the admin device. The notification is included to protect against unauthorized tampering with an admin device, especially in a multi-admin scenario. If the device admin permission is revoked on an Android device, admins will receive a 'removed device' notification.

App uninstalled (iOS only)

After the FamilyMode app has been uninstalled from an iOS device, admins will receive a  'removed device' notification. This notification is triggered by the next call to APNS, so this notification may be delayed by a few minutes.

[Device] has not responded for more than a day. FamilyMode may have been removed.

If a device does not make contact with the server for 24 hours, admins will receive an 'unresponsive' notification. This notification will be repeated for a week or until the device reestablishes contact with the server.

Airplane mode is on [Device] When the VPN restarts upon exiting Airplane mode on an iOS device, admins will receive a 'start after airplane' notification.

Looks like ethernet has been unplugged from your Home Base.

When the Ethernet cable is unplugged.

Developer mode is active on [Device], which can be used to silently disable Home Base Go. Check with [Profile] about this message.

When developer mode (which could be used to thwart the VPN) is enabled on an Android device, admins will receive a 'developer mode' notification.

 

Notifications sent to child
