Backlight

Brightness

 

To raise or lower the screen brightness, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Display (Pantalla).
  4. Tap Brightness (Brillo).
  5. Tap the Automatic brightness (Brillo automático) check box to clear (turn off).
  6. Touch and drag the Brightness Slider left or right to adjust brightness.

 

Duration

 

To increase or decrease the amount of time before the backlight dims, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Display (Pantalla).
  4. Tap Screen timeout (Tiempo de espera pantalla).
  5. Tap one of the following options:
    • 30 seconds (30 segundos)
    • 1 minute (1 minuto)
    • 2 minutes (2 minutos)
    • 10 minutes (10 minutos)
    • 30 minutes (30 minutos)
    • Never time out (Tiempo de espera ilimitado)

Network

Airplane mode

 

Airplane mode turns off the wireless radio. This allows you to use programs while travelling on an airplane, but not make or receive calls. To turn on airplane mode, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Wireless & networks (Redes inalam. y redes).
  4. Tap the Airplane mode (Modo avión) check box to select (turn on) or clear (turn off).

 

OR

 

  1. From any screen, touch and hold the Power (Encendido) key.
  2. Tap Airplane mode (Modo avión) to turn on or off.

Change band

 

To change the band selection, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Wireless & networks (Redes inalam. y redes).
  4. Tap Mobile networks (Redes moviles).
  5. Tap Select network (Seleccionar red).
  6. Tap one of the following:
    • 2G only (Solo 2G ahorra bateria)
    • 3G only (Solo 3G mejor rendimiento)
    • Automatic Default (Automatico predeterminado)


Data roaming

 

To use, turn on, or turn off data roaming, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Data manager (Administrador de datos).
  4. Tap Data Delivery (Entrega de datos).
  5. Tap the Data roaming (Roaming de datos) check box to select (turn on) or clear (turn off).

 

Enable Data

 

To use, turn on, or turn off data roaming, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Data manager (Administrador de datos).
  4. Tap Data Delivery (Entrega de datos).
  5. Tap the Enable data check box to select (turn on) or clear (turn off).

 

Manual network selection

 

To manually select the wireless network the phone connects to, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Wireless & network settings (Redes inalam. y redes).
  4. Tap Mobile networks (Redes moviles).
  5. Tap Operator selection (Selección de operador).
  6. Tap the Select automatically (Selección automática) check box to clear (turn off).
  7. Tap Search networks (Redes disponibles).
  8. Tap the network.

 

  • Note: The phone detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

Reset

Clear System Cache

To clear the system cache to reset the phone, follow these steps:

 

  1. Turn off the phone.
  2. Note: If the phone will not power down, remove the battery and reinsert it.
  3. Slide the Keyboard out
  4. Press and hold the X key and Power key simultaneously.
  5. Continue to hold the X key and Power key until you see a triangle with a yellow exclamation point and an android.
  6. Release the keys.
  7. Press the @ key to bring up the Android Recovery screen.
  8. Use the Volume Down key to highlight Wipe Cache Partition.
  9. Press the Return key to select Wipe Cache Partition.
  10. Once complete, you will be returned to the Android System Recovery Utility screen.
  11. Select Reboot System Now?.
  12. The phone will restart.

 

Master Reset

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may erase all downloaded content, including ringtones, images, programs, and contacts stored in the internal memory. It does not erase data stored on the SIM card or memory card (if available). To perform a hard reset, follow these steps.

 

  1. Back up all necessary data. See: Preparing for a master reset on Android.
  2. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  3. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  4. Tap Privacy (Privacidad).
  5. Tap Factory Data Reset (Configuración de fábrica).
  6. Tap Reset Phone (Restablecer teléfono).
  7. Tap Erase Everything (Borrar todo).

 

Master Reset - Using Hardware Buttons

 

To perform a master reset using hardware buttons, following these steps:

 

  1. If the device is responsive, back up all necessary data. See: Preparing for a master reset on Android.
  2. Power down the device.
  3. Slide out the keyboard. Press and hold the X key and power button simultaneously.
  4. Release the X key when Android System Recovery menu appears.
  5. Press the @ key to access the recovery menu.
  6. Use the Navigation or Volume down key to highlight wipe data/factory reset.
  7. Press the Enter/Return or Camera button to select.
  8. Use the Navigation or Volume down key to highlight Yes – delete all user data.
  9. Press the Enter/Return or Camera button to select.
  10. The message Data wipe complete will appear at the bottom of the Android System Recovery screen in yellow text.
  11. Use the Navigation or Volume down to highlight reboot system now.
  12. Press the Enter/Return or Camera button to select.
  13. The phone will reboot and the reset is complete.

Security

Change - SIM PIN code

 

To change the default SIM PIN code, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Location & security (Ubicación y seguridad).
  4. Tap Set up SIM card lock (Config. bloqueo tarjeta SIM).
  5. Tap Change SIM PIN (Cambiar el PIN de SIM).
  6. Enter the old SIM PIN code.
    • Note: The default SIM PIN code is 1234.
  7. Tap OK (Aceptar).
  8. Enter the new SIM PIN code.
  9. Tap OK (Aceptar).
  10. Enter the new SIM PIN code again to confirm.
  11. Tap OK (Aceptar).

Lock – Keyboard lock

 

Locking the keyboard protects against accidental key presses. No password is required to unlock the keyboard. To lock and unlock the keyboard, follow these steps:

 

Manual keyboard lock

 

To lock the keyboard

 

  1. Press the Power (Encendido) key.

 

To unlock the keyboard

 

  1. Press the Power (Encendido) key.
  2. Touch and drag the Lock (Bloquear) icon to the right.

 

Automatic keyboard lock

 

From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.

 

  1. Tap Settings (Configuracion).
  2. Tap Display (Pantalla).
  3. Tap Screen timeout (Tiempo espera pantalla).
  • Note: Once you set the Screen timeout (Tiempo espera pantalla), the keyboard locks automatically after the set duration of inactivity.

 

Lock - Phone lock

 

Phone lock causes the phone to lock when you turn it off. When you turn the phone back on, you must enter a password. To turn on or turn off the phone lock, follow these steps:

 

To lock

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Location & security (Ubicación y seguridad).
  4. Tap Set up screen lock (Configurar bloqueo pantalla).
  5. Tap one of the following:
    • None (Ninguno)
    • Pattern (Patrón)
    • PIN
    • Password (Contraseña)

 

To unlock

 

  1. Upon screen lock, draw the lock pattern, or enter the PIN / Password.

 

Lock - SIM card lock

 

The SIM PIN code is used to protect the SIM from being used in other phones. When you enable the SIM PIN code, the phone prompts you to enter the code after turning it on. To turn on or turn off the SIM card lock, follow these steps:

 

To lock

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Location & security (Ubicación y seguridad).
  4. Tap Set up SIM card lock (Config. bloqueo tarjeta SIM) .
  5. Enter the SIM PIN code.
  6. Tap OK (Aceptar).

 

To unlock

 

  1. Upon SIM lock, enter the SIM PIN code.

 

Unblock - PIN (PUK Code)

 

How to enter a PUK code

  • 'PIN code blocked. Enter PUK code:'
  • 'Enter PUK code'

 

If you enter the PIN code incorrectly several times in a row, the phone blocks you from attempting again. To enter a PUK code and unblock the PIN, follow these steps:

 

  • Important: You must call T-Mobile Customer Care for the PUK code. Entering the wrong code can permanently damage your SIM card.
  1. Contact us T-Mobile.com/Contact
  2. When locked, tap Enter PUK (Introducir PUK).
  3. Enter a new PIN unblock code.
  4. Tap Enter (Ingresar).
  5. Tap Continue (Continuar).
  6. Enter your preferred SIM PIN code.
  7. Tap Enter (Ingresar).
  8. Tap Continue (Continuar).
  9. Enter your SIM PIN again to confirm.
  10. Tap Enter (Ingresar).
  11. Tap Continue (Continuar).

 

Unblock - SIM (Mobile Device unlock)

 

How to enter a Mobile Device unlock code

  • 'Please Wait to Enter Special Code'

 

The Mobile Device unlock code allows the phone to use a SIM card from another wireless carrier. To enter the Mobile Device unlock code, follow these steps:

 

  • Important: Stop if you receive an error message while performing the instructions below. The phone locks permanently if you enter the incorrect code multiple times.
  1. Call T-Mobile Customer care representative.
  2. They will ask for your IMEI number.
  3. Enter *#06# on your phone to get the IMEI number.
  4. They send the Mobile Device unlock code via e-mail or regular mail.
  5. In your phone, insert the SIM card from the other service provider.
  6. At SIM network unlock PIN, enter the 8-digit code you received in mail.
  7. Tap Unlock (Desbloquear).

Time and date

Alarm clock - Set

 

To set the alarm clock, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications (Aplicaciones) icon.
  2. Tap Alarm & Timer (Alarma y temporizador).
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Add alarm (Agregar alarma).
  5. Tap the Turn on alarm (Activar alarma) check box to select (turn on).
  6. Tap Time (Hora).
  7. Tap the Plus (Más) or Minus (Menos) icons to set the alarm time.
  8. Tap to set AM or PM.
  9. Tap Set (Establecer).
  10. Tap Done (Listo).

 

Auto-update (NITZ)

 

Automatic update of time and date (NITZ) checks for the correct time while the phone turns on. To turn on or turn off NITZ, follow these steps:

 

  • Note: When you enter a different time zone and turn on your phone, it automatically updates to the new time. This feature is network-dependent and may not be available in all areas.
  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Date & time (Fecha y hora).
  4. Tap the Automatic (Automático) check box to select (turn on) or clear (turn off).

 

Time / date - Set

 

To set the time and date, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Date & time (Fecha y hora).
  4. Tap the Automatic (Automático) check box to clear (turn off).
  5. Tap Set date (Establecer fecha).
  6. Tap the Plus (Más) or Minus (Menos) icons to set the current date.
  7. Tap Set (Establecer).
  8. Tap Set time (Establecer hora).
  9. Tap the Plus (Más) or Minus (Menos) icons to set the current time.
