Bluetooth - Transfer files

 

To transfer files using Bluetooth, follow these steps:

 

Note: Bluetooth must be active on both devices. The device to which you are sending the file must be ready to receive files via Bluetooth.

 

  1. Locate the file you want to transfer (for example, an image in the gallery.)
  2. Tap the Share icon.
  3. Tap Bluetooth.
  4. If necessary, turn on Bluetooth.
  5. If necessary, tap Scan for devices.
  6. Tap the Bluetooth device you want to share the file with.
  7. If prompted on the other device, accept the transfer.

Bluetooth - Turn off and disconnect

 

To turn off Bluetooth® connectivity, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings <(Configuración).
  3. Tap Wireless & networks <(Redes inalám. y redes).
  4. Tap the Bluetooth check box to clear (turn off) (Desactivar).

Bluetooth - Turn on and pair

 

To turn on and pair a Bluetooth® connection with another device, follow these steps:

  4. Tap Bluetooth settings (Configuracion Bluetooth).
  5. Tap the Bluetooth check box to select (turn on). The phone searches and displays a list of available Bluetooth devices.
  6. If necessary, tap Scan for devices (Buscar dispositivos).
  7. Tap the Bluetooth device that you want to connect to.
  8. If required, enter the PIN.
  9. Tap OK (Vincular).

Edit applications sync settings

 

To edit application sync settings, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Battery & Data manager (Administrador de datos).

GPS / Google Maps

Find your location

 

To find your location with Global Positioning System (GPS), follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications (Aplicaciones) icon.
  2. Tap Maps (Mapas).
  3. Read what’s new and tap OK (Aceptar).
  4. Tap the My Location (Mi ubicación) icon at the top right corner of the screen. Your location appears on the map as a blinking blue arrow (Flecha azul parpadeante) icon.

Get directions

 

To look up driving directions using the Global Positioning System (GPS), follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications (Aplicaciones) icon.
  2. Tap Maps (Mapas).
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Directions (Indicaciones).
  5. Enter your start and end points.
  6. Tap the Car, Bus, Bike (Auto, Bus, Bicicleta), or Walking (Caminando) icon to indicate mode of travel.
  7. Tap Go (Como llegar).

Search for location

 

To search for location with Global Positioning System (GPS), follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications (Aplicaciones) icon.

Locate, call, or navigate to restaurants, hotels, ATMs, Wi-Fi hotspots, and more from a directory of over 10 million businesses. Avoid traffic jams with real-time traffic alerts and intelligent rerouting.

 

Access

 

To access TeleNav, follow these steps:

 

  • Note: GPS must be turned on to access and use TeleNav.

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications (Aplicaciones) icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap TeleNav.
  3. Read the Terms of Service and tap Accept (Aceptar).
  4. Enter your first name, last name, and e-mail address.
  5. Tap Submit (Presentar).

Find a location

 

To find a location using TeleNav, follow these steps:

 

  • Note: GPS must be turned on to access and use TeleNav.
  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications (Aplicaciones) icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap TeleNav.
  3. Tap the Search (Buscar) box and enter the desired location.

Add browser bookmark

 

To add a bookmark to the phone browser, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.

  6. Tap Add.

To clear the mobile browser cache, cookies, or history, follow these steps:

Latitude

Disable

 

To disable Latitude, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications (Aplicaciones) icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Latitude.

  5. Tap Sign out of Latitude .

Friends - Add

 

To add friends to Latitude, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications (Aplicaciones) icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Latitude.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Add friends (Añadir amigos).
  5. Tap one of the following options:
    • Select from Contacts
    • Add via email address

Note: Invitations must be sent to Gmail addresses. When the friend accepts your invitation, your friend’s location appears on the map.

 

Friends - Remove

 

To remove friends from Latitude, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications (Aplicaciones) icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Latitude.
  3. Tap the friend you want to remove.
  4. Tap Remove this friend (eliminar este amigo).
  5. Tap Ok.

Join

 

  1. To join Latitude, follow these steps:
  2. From any Home screen, tap the Applications (Aplicaciones) icon.
  3. Scroll to and tap Latitude.
  • Note: If you have not set up a Google account, you must do so now.

Settings - Change photo

 

To change a photo for Latitude, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications (Aplicaciones) icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Latitude.
  3. Tap your name.
  4. Tap Change your photo (Cambiar tu foto).
  5. Tap one of the following options:
    • Take a picture (Tomar foto)
      1. Frame the subject.
      2. Tap the Shutter (Obturador) icon or press the Camera (Cámara) key to capture the picture.
      3. Tap Done.
      4. Touch and drag the box to the desired position.
      5. Touch and drag the box boundary to adjust the size.
      6. Tap Done (Listo).
      7. Tap Save (Guardar).
    • Pick from gallery (Elegir de galería)
      1. Tap the desired picture.
      2. Select from one of the following options:
        • Files
        • Gallery
      3. Touch and drag the box to the desired position.
      4. Touch and drag the box boundary to adjust the size.
      5. Tap Save (Guardar).

 

Settings - Change status

 

To change your status, follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap Latitude.
  3. Tap your name.
  4. Tap Edit privacy settings.
  5. Select one of the following options:
    • Detect your location
    • Set your location
    • Do not detect your location

 

Settings - City level sharing

 

To set city level sharing for Latitude, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications (Aplicaciones) icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Latitude.
  3. Tap the desired friend.
  4. Tap Sharing options (Opciones de compartir).
  5. Tap Share only city level location (Sólo compartir ubicación de nivel ciudad). Your friend can now see your city location only.

 

Settings - Hide location from all friends

 

To hide location from all friends in Latitude, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications (Aplicaciones) icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Latitude.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Tap Do not update your location.

 

Settings - Hide location from one friend

 

To hide your location from one friend, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap Latitude.
  3. Scroll to and tap the friend you want to hide from.
  4. Tap Sharing options.
  5. Tap Hide from this friend.

 

Settings - Set location automatically

 

To set the location to detect automatically in Latitude, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications (Aplicaciones) icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Latitude.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Tap Detect your location (Detectar tu locación).

 

Settings - Set location manually

 

To manually set the location in Latitude, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications (Aplicaciones) icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Latitude.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Settings.

MOTOBLUR

Remote clear


To remotely clear the phone memory with MOTOBLUR, follow these steps:

 

  1. From a computer, log in to your MOTOBLUR account at www.motorola.com/mymotoblur.
    • Note: This site is best viewed in the following browsers: Firefox 3+, Internet Explorer 7+, Chrome 5+ and Safari 5+.
  2. Click the above SECURE PHONE tab.
  3. Click the Wipe Phone (Borrar teléfono) button.
  4. At password, enter your MOTOBLUR password.
  5. Click the Wipe Phone (Borrar teléfono) button again.

 

Restore phone

 

To restore your linked MOTOBLUR accounts to your phone, follow these steps:

 

  1. Log into your MOTOBLUR account through your phone, in order to automatically recover all of your linked accounts.
  2. To recover Android Market apps, see the Android Market section.

Sign in - create new account

 

To sign in using a new MOTOBLUR account, follow these steps:

 

  1. Tap the drop down box below Please choose a language if you want a language other than English.
  2. Tap Start (Iniciar).
  3. Tap Register new account (Registrar una nueva cuenta).
  4. Tap Next (Siguiente).
  5. Read the MOTOBLUR Terms of Service.
  6. Tap the I agree (Acepto) check box to select.
  7. Tap Next (Siguiente).
  8. At Enter your first and last name (Ingresa tu nombre y apellido), enter your name.
  9. Tap Next (Siguiente).
    • Note: If necessary, tap the Back (Anterior) key to close the on-screen keyboard.
  10. At Enter email address (Ingresar direccion de correo), enter a current e-mail address where MOTOBLUR can send your account information.
  11. At Enter password (Ingresar contraseña), enter a password for your MOTOBLUR account.
  12. Tap the Confirm password (Confirmar contraseña) field and re-enter your password.
  13. Tap Next (Siguiente).
  14. Review your account information.
  15. Tap Confirm (Confirmar).
  16. When account creation is successful, tap Next (Siguiente).
  17. Tap the icon for a social networking service you use.
  18. Enter your login information for that account.
  19. Tap Next (Siguiente).
  20. Tap Done (Listo).
  21. Repeat steps 17-20 for all accounts you want to add.
  22. Tap Done adding accounts (Finalizo agregando cuentas) when done.
  23. If you added multiple accounts, tap the Picture source drop down box and select the account you want to use for your contact’s profile pictures.
  24. Tap Next (Siguiente).
  25. Read the location consent message.
  26. If desired, tap the check box to clear.

Sign in - use existing account

 

To sign in using an existing MOTOBLUR account, follow these steps:

 

  1. Tap the drop down box below Please choose a language if you want a language other than English.
  2. Tap Start (Iniciar).
  3. Tap Use an existing account (Usar una cuenta existente).
  4. Tap Next (Siguiente).
  5. At Your email address (Tu direccion de correo), enter the e-mail address you used to set up your MOTOBLUR account.
  6. Tap the Enter password (Ingresar contraseña) field and enter your BLUR account password.
  7. Tap Next (Siguiente).
    • Note: If necessary, tap the Back (Anterior) key to close the on-screen keyboard.
  8. Enter the login information for accounts that you set up in your MOTOBLUR profile.
  9. Tap Next (Siguiente).
  10. Read the Location consent message.
  11. Tap the check box to clear, if desired.
  12. Tap Next (Siguiente).
  13. Tap Done (Listo).

Track your phone

 

To track your phone with MOTOBLUR, follow these steps:

 

  1. From a computer, log in to your MOTOBLUR account at www.motorola.com/mymotoblur.
  2. In the MOTOBLUR window, click Locate Phone (Localizar teléfono).
  3. Click Locate (Localizar) my phone. Your phone’s location shows in Google Maps.

Voice Search

Voice Search - Use

 

To use Google Voice Search on the Internet, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications (Aplicaciones) icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Voice Search (Busqueda por voz).
  3. If necessary and desired, tap Agree (Acepto) to allow Google to use your location to improve your search results.
  4. If necessary, tap Voice Search.
  5. If desired, tap Yes to turn on personalized recognition.
  6. Tap Speak now (Hablar ahora).
  7. Speak your search.
  8. To voice search again, tap the Microphone (Micrófono) icon in the upper right corner of the browser screen.

Use Location - Turn on / off

 

‘Use Location’ allows Google to use your physical location to improve your search results and other services. To turn on or turn off ‘Use Location’, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap Google Search.
  3. If necessary, tap Yes or No to show or hide Web history.
  4. If necessary, tap the Menu key.
  5. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  6. Tap Google search (Búsqueda de Google).
  7. Tap the Use My Location (Usar Mi ubicación) check box to select (turn on) (Activar) or clear (turn off) (Desactivar).

SafeSearch - Turn on / off

 

To turn on or turn off SafeSearch, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications (Aplicaciones) icon.
  2. Scroll to and tap Voice Search (Búsqueda por voz).
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Settings (Ajustes).
  5. Tap SafeSearch.

Add new network

 

The Virtual Private Network (VPN) control panel allows you to configure and connect to VPN networks. To add a new VPN network, follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Wireless & networks (Redes inalam. y redes).
  4. Tap VPN settings (Configuración de VPN).
  5. Tap Basic VPN (Agregar VPN).
  6. Tap Add VPN.
  7. Tap one of the following:
    • Add PPTP VPN (Agregar VPN PPTP)
    • Add L2TP VPN (Agregar VPN L2TP)
    • Add L2TP/IPSec PSK VPN (Agregar VPN L2TP/IPSec PSK)
    • Add L2TP/IPSec CRT VPN (Agregar VPN L2TP/IPsec CRT)
  8. After entering the required settings, tap the Menu key.
  9. Tap Save (Guardar).

 

To Connect to Network

To connect to a VPN network, follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Wireless & networks (Redes inalam. y redes).
  4. Tap VPN settings (Configuración de VPN).
  5. Tap Basic VPN (Agregar VPN).
  6. Tap the VPN network you want to connect to.
  7. Enter your Username (Nombre de VPN) and Password (Contraseña).

Wi-Fi

HotSpot - Find location

 

  • Note: You can access only those HotSpots you are in range of.

 

To locate a T-Mobile HotSpot from your device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap Browser.
  3. Navigate to http://hotspot.t-mobile.com/
  4. Tap HotSpot Locations.
  5. Tap Go to find a HotSpot location near you.
  6. Tap the text fields to enter your location information.
  7. Tap Submit.

 

Hotspot - Log in

 

To log in to a T-Mobile HotSpot from your phone, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Wireless & networks (Redes inalam. y redes).
  4. Tap Wi-Fi settings (Configuración Wi-Fi).
  5. Tap the Wi-Fi check box to select (turn on), if necessary.
  6. From the list, tap the T-Mobile HotSpot to which you want to connect.
  7. Enter the password and tap Connect.

MAC address - Locate

 

To locate the Wi-Fi MAC address for your phone, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Wireless & networks (Redes inalam. y redes).
  4. Tap Wi-Fi settings (Configuración Wi-Fi).
  5. Tap the Menu key.
  6. Tap Advanced (Avanzado).
  7. View the MAC address (Dirección MAC).

Network - Add from available

 

To add a new Wi-Fi network from available networks, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Wireless & networks (Redes inalam. y redes).
  4. Tap Wi-Fi settings (Configuración Wi-Fi).
  5. Tap the Wi-Fi check box to select (turn on), if necessary.
  6. Tap the desired network.
  7. If required, enter a key or password.
  8. Tap Connect (Conectar).

Network - Add manually

 

To manually add a new Wi-Fi network, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).

  5. Tap the Wi-Fi check box to select (turn on), if necessary.
  6. Scroll to and tap Add Wi-Fi network (Agregar red Wi-Fi).
  7. Enter the Network SSID.
  8. Tap the Security (Seguridad) drop-down menu.
  9. Tap one of the following options:
    • Open (Abierta)
    • WEP
    • WPA/WPA2 PSK
    • 802.1x EAP
  10. If required, enter additional security settings.
  11. Tap Save (Guardar).

Network - Edit details

 

To edit network details (such as a password) for a secure network you have previously connected to, follow these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wireless & networks.
  4. Tap Wi-Fi settings.
  5. Tap the Wi-Fi check box to select (turn on), if necessary.
  6. Scroll to and touch and hold the network you want to edit.
  7. Tap Change password.
  8. Edit the network name, security type, or password as desired.
  9. Tap Save.

 

Network - Scan for / connect to available

 

To scan for and connect to available Wi-Fi networks, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings (Configuración).
  3. Tap Wireless & networks (Redes inalam. y redes).
  4. Tap Wi-Fi settings (Configuración Wi-Fi).
  5. Tap the Wi-Fi check box to select (turn on), if necessary.
  6. Tap the Menu key.
  7. Tap Scan (Explorar).
  8. Tap the desired Wi-Fi network.
  9. If required, enter a key or password.
  10. Tap Connect (Conectar).

Network - Delete

 

To delete a Wi-Fi network, follow these steps:

Wi-Fi Calling

 

Wi-Fi Calling improves your coverage and allows you to make phone calls and send messages over an available Wi-Fi network. For billing and other details, read The specified item was not found..

 

When the Wi-Fi Calling feature is turned on, your phone displays the Wi-Fi Calling wifi calling icon.bmp icon on the Notification bar. To make a Wi-Fi call, you must be within range of a Wi-Fi network. If you move outside the range of the Wi-Fi network, the phone will make an audible beep and then the call will drop.

Your phone does not automatically switch between Wi-Fi networks and the cellular network. To stay on a Wi-Fi call, you must remain within signal range of the Wi-Fi network you are using. As you leave the signal area, your phone beeps and displays a warning message alerting you that your call will drop if you leave the signal area.

Wi-Fi Calling offers three connection options:

Wi-Fi Preferred: All calls are made over an available Wi-Fi network. If there are no available Wi-Fi networks, then calls are made over the cellular network.
Cellular Preferred: All calls are made over the cellular network. If the cellular network is not available, then calls are made over an available Wi-Fi network.
Wi-Fi Only: All calls are made over a Wi-Fi network. If there are no available Wi-Fi networks, phone calls will not connect.

Tethering & Wi-Fi sharing

With Tethering, your phone can share its mobile data connection with a single computer using a USB cable. With Wi-Fi Sharing, your phone can share its mobile data connection with other devices, wirelessly.

To use Tethering and Wi-Fi Sharing, your unlimited data plan must include the Tethering and Wi-Fi Sharing add-on feature

 

Connection Icons

When your device is sharing its data connection, an icon appears on the Status bar on top of your device’s screen.

Tethering

Your phone can share its mobile data connection with a single computer via a USB cable.

Tethering works with Windows® 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista®, and Mac OS X. For more information about tethering and operating systems, visit www.android.com/tether.

For Windows XP, you must install the appropriate driver on your computer before you can tether. To install the driver, go to www.android.com/tether.

Note: When you connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable, you can either tether or access files on the phone’s memory card, but you cannot do both. If you want to use your computer to access the memory card, you must turn off tethering.

Tether Your Phone
To share your mobile data connection with a single computer by tethering, follow these steps:

  1. Plug the small end of a USB cable into your phone.
  2. Plug the other end of the USB cable into a computer.
    • If prompted on a Windows XP computer, click Next to install the driver software via the Found New Hardware Wizard. If necessary, click Browse and navigate to My Computer or My Documents, then click Next.
    • If prompted on a Mac OS X computer, click Network Preferences to set up the Android phone network interface. Click Apply.
  3. On the phone, from any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  4. Tap Settings.
  5. Tap Wireless & networks.
  6. Tap Tethering & Mobile Hotspot.
  7. Tap USB tethering.
  8. Your phone is now sharing its mobile network data connection with your computer over the USB cable.
  9. When finished, disable tethering and then safely disconnect the phone from the computer.

Wi-Fi Sharing

You can share your mobile data connection with up to five devices at the same time by turning your phone into a portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

Note: When your phone is serving as a Wi-Fi hotspot for other devices, you cannot access the Internet on the phone itself.

3G Mobile Hotspot

To use Wi-Fi Sharing with Mobile Hots pot , you must have the Tethering and Wi-Fi Sharing service plan added to your unlimited data plan.

 

Activate

  1. From the Home screen, select the Applications icon.
  2. Tap 3G Mobile Hotspot.
  3. Tap the checkbox next to Mobile Hotspot to begin the service.
  4. Read the Warning and tap OK.
  5. Note:  this service causes significant battery drain. It is recommended that  you use the service with the device connected to the charger.
  6. During first-time setup, enter desired settings and create a password.
  7. Tap Save.
  8. If necessary, r ead the Warning and tap OK.
  9. When the Hotspot service is active, the checkbox will be populated with a green checkmark.

 

Disable

  1. From the Home screen, select the Applications icon.
  2. Tap 3G Mobile Hotspot.
  3. Tap the checkbox next to Mobile Hotspot to turn off the service.

 

Change Mobile Hotspot Settings

Note: The Mobile Hotspot must be turned on to change settings.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Applications icon.
  2. Tap 3G Mobile Hotspot.
  3. Tap 3G Mobile Hotspot, if necessary.
  4. Tap Configure Mobile Hotspot.
  5. Edit the desired settings.
  6. Tap Save.
