T-Mobile Sonic 4G Mobile HotSpot: Help and Support

By now you probably know all there is to know about your device, but if not, we've got you covered with some basic info below.

 

 

 

Device buttons and key features

Reset your device

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloads, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, and Visual Voicemail. It doesn't delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

 

Master reset with hardware keys

If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys. To perform a master reset, follow these steps:

 

  1. Press down on the back cover and slide, as shown.

  2. Next to the battery on the left-hand side, you will see a button labeled RESET.

  3. Insert a paperclip or similar object into the RESET hole and hold the button until "Reseting" is displayed on the screen.
  4. When the device powers on, the reset is complete.

 

Memory and SIM cards

 

SIM card

This device supports a standard size SIM card.

 

  1. Press down on the back cover and slide, as shown.

  2. Pull the back cover away to remove it.

  3. You will find the default SSID (Service Set Identifier) and password printed on the label under the back cover. You will need this information when you connect the Mobile HotSpot to other devices.
  4. Remove the battery by lifting at the notch, as shown.

  5. Slide the SIM card into or out of the SIM card slot with the gold contacts facing down, as shown.

Memory card

  1. Press down on the back cover and slide, as shown.

  3. You will find the default SSID (Service Set Identifier) and password printed on the label under the back cover.
  4. You will need this information when you connect the Mobile HotSpot to other devices.
  5. Remove the battery by lifting at the notch, as shown.

  6. With the gold contacts facing down, slide the microSD card into the slot, as shown, and push until it clicks into place.

  7. To remove, push the microSD card into the slot until it clicks and ejects slightly, then Slide the card out of the slot.

 

 

Network settings

 

Manual network selection

  1. Connect an Internet-ready device to the Mobile HotSpot.
  2. Open a Web browser and navigate to http://mobile.hotspot, or use the T-Mobile HotSpot Admin shortcut to access the T-Mobile HotSpot Admin page.
  3. Enter your password. Passwords are case sensitive. The default password is admin.
  4. Click Login.
  5. If necessary, click the Settings tab.
  6. Click Network Settings.
  7. Click Network Selection.
  8. From the Preferred Mode drop-down menu, select from the following:
    • Auto: The Mobile HotSpot automatically searches for and selects an available network.
    • Manual: You manually search for and select an available network.
  9. Click Apply.

 

Connect - Using a Wi-Fi enabled device

To connect your Wi-Fi enabled device to your Mobile Hotspot, follow these steps:

 

  1. Remove the back cover from the device and locate the sticker with the device's SSID and Password.

  2. Enable Wi-Fi on your connecting device and scan for available networks.
  3. The Sonic 4G Mobile HotSpot will appear as a secured network named 'SONIC - XXXX'
  4. Enter the default password from the sticker to establish the connection.
  5. If you have changed the Wi-Fi password so it is no longer the default, enter the new password.
  6. If your service is not already set up, open a web page on your computer and follow the on-screen prompts to set up your service. Otherwise, open a web page and browse.
