Nokia Astound: Help and Support

By now you probably know all there is to know about your device, but if not, we've got you covered with some basic info below.

 

Starting April 6, 2019, this device may show incorrect locations or continuously search when attempting to use GPS due to the GPS Rollover. There’s no fix available, so if you need to use applications or services that rely on GPS technology, it just might be time to say your farewells and get a new device. Get a little refresher about the different buttons on your device as well as some of its key features.

Reset your device

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloads, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, and Visual Voicemail. It doesn't delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

 

Master reset with settings menu

  1. Briefly press the Power key.
  2. Scroll down and tap Offline.
  3. From any Home screen, press the Menu key.
  4. Tap Help & Settings.
  5. Tap Settings.
  6. Tap Phone.
  7. Tap Phone management.
  8. Tap Factory settings.
  9. Tap Restore.
  10. Tap Yes. If prompted, enter Lock code. There is no default Lock code; if user did not create a Lock code, device will not prompt for one.
  11. Tap OK.

 

Master reset with hardware keys

If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys.

  1. Make sure the phone is Turned OFF.
  2. Hold 'Menu' + 'Volume down' + 'Camera' keys with one hand.
  3. Then press 'Power' key until the phone vibrates.
  4. Continue holding the first 3 keys and let go of the 'Power' key.
  5. When Nokia logo goes away, you can let go of all keys and Hard Reset is complete.

 

Memory and SIM cards

SIM card

This device supports a standard size SIM card.

  1. Power off the device.
  2. Slide the latch on the back of the device to release the back cover.
  3. There is no need to remove the battery if it is installed.
  4. Hold the SIM card with the gold contacts up. Slide the SIM card (notched end first) into the SIM card slot in the same direction until you hear it click into place.

  5. Replace the back cover.

 

Memory card

  1. Power off the device.
  2. Slide the latch on the back of the device to release the back cover.
  3. Remove the battery if it is installed.
  4. Slide the memory card into the slot. Push the memory card in until it locks into place.

  6. Replace the back cover.

 

Network settings

Manual network selection

  1. From any Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Help&Settings.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Connectivity.
  5. Tap Network.
  6. Tap Operator selection.
  7. Tap Manual.
  8. Scroll to and tap the desired network.

 

Turn on/off data roaming

  1. From any Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Help & Settings.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Connectivity.
  5. Tap Settings.
  6. Tap Data use when abroad.
  7. Tap Automatic.
