LG Optimus T: Help and Support

By now you probably know all there is to know about your device, but if not, we've got you covered with some basic info below.

 

Starting April 6, 2019, this device may show incorrect locations or continuously search when attempting to use GPS due to the GPS Rollover. There’s no fix available, so if you need to use applications or services that rely on GPS technology, it just might be time to say your farewells and get a new device. Device buttons and key features

Get a little refresher about the different buttons on your device as well as some of its key features.

Back up and restore

Backup contacts

  1. In the Menu, select Settings.
  2. Select Accounts & Sync
  3. Select tmobile
  4. Tap the Menu button and select Sync now.

 

Backup media & pictures

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap SD card & phone storage.
  4. Tap to select (turn on) the Mass storage only check box.
  5. Connect the device to your computer using the USB cable.
  6. Tap Turn on USB storage.
  7. Tap OK.
  8. On the computer when the Removable Disk window appears, click Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Copy and paste or drag and drop the file to a folder on your Computer.
  11. When you are done moving files, double-click the Safely Remove Hardware icon.
  12. Select USB Mass Storage Device.
  13. Click Stop.
  14. Select USB Mass Storage Device.
  15. Click OK.
  16. On your phone, tap Turn off USB storage.
  17. Disconnect your phone from the computer.

 

Restore contacts

  1. In the Menu, select Settings.
  2. Select Accounts & Sync
  3. Select tmobile
  4. Tap the Menu button and select Sync now.

 

Restore media & pictures

  1. Connect the LG Optimus to your PC using the USB cable.
  2. If you haven't installed the LG Android Platform Driver on your PC, you need to change the settings manually.
    • Press the Home Key
    • Press Menu
    • Tap Settings
    • Tap SD card and Phone Storage
    • Select Mass Storage Only
  3. Drag the notification panel down and tap USB connected
  4. Tap Turn on USB storage
  5. Your device will show up as a removable drive
  6. Drag and drop files to the device.
  7. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  8.     Tap Settings.
  9.     Tap SD card & phone storage.
  10.     Tap to select (turn on) the Mass storage only check box.
  11.     Connect the device to your computer using the USB cable.
  12.     Tap Turn on USB storage.
  13.     Tap OK.
  14.     On the computer when the Removable Disk window appears, click Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer.
  15.     Click OK.
  16.     Copy and paste or drag and drop the file to a folder on your phone’s memory card.
  17.     When you are done moving files, double-click the Safely Remove Hardware icon.
  18.     Select USB Mass Storage Device.
  19.     Click Stop.
  20.     Select USB Mass Storage Device.
  21.     Click OK.
  22.     On your phone, tap Turn off USB storage.
  23.     Disconnect your phone from the computer.

 

Reset your device

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloads, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, and Visual Voicemail. It doesn't delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

 

Master reset with settings menu

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Privacy.
  4. Tap Factory data reset.
  5. Tap Reset phone.
  6. Tap Erase everything.

 

Master reset with hardware keys

If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys.

  1. Turn off the phone. If the phone is unresponsive and does not turn off, remove the battery and then re-insert it. Press and hold the  Home key, Volume Down key and Power key at the same time.
  2. Continue to hold the keys until the device turns back on.
  3. When the device turns on, release the Power key and continue to hold the Home key and Volume Down key until you see tthe resetscreen (Android in a Box).
  4. Release the keys.
  5. The phone will restart.

Memory and SIM cards

SIM card

This device supports a standard size SIM card.

  1. Insert your fingernail under the back cover to the right of the USB port.
  2. Lift the cover off of the phone.
  3. Lift and remove the battery.
  4. Slide the SIM card into the SIM card slot with the gold contacts facing down and the notched corner facing out.

  5. Replace the battery with the gold contacts facing the gold contacts in the battery compartment.
  6. Replace the back cover and snap into place.

 

Memory card

  1. Insert your fingernail under the back cover of the phone.
  2. Lift the cover off of the phone.
  3. Slide the memory card slot cover up in the direction of the arrow to open.

  4. Lift up the memory card cover.
  5. Insert the memory card with gold contacts facing down.
  6. Close the memory card cover slide down to lock it into place.

 

Network settings

Change band

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wireless & networks.
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
  5. Tap Network mode.
  6. Tap one of the following options:
    • GSM/WCDMA auto
    • WCDMA only
    • GSM only

 

Manual network selection

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wireless & networks.
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
  5. Tap Network operators.
  6. Tap Search networks.
  7. Tap the desired network.

 

Turn on/off data roaming

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wireless & networks.
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
  5. Tap to select (turn on) or clear (turn off) the Data roaming check box.

 

Turn on and connect to Wi-Fi

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wireless & networks.
  4. Tap Wi-Fi settings.
  5. Tap to select (turn on) the Wi-Fi checkbox, if necessary.
  6. Press the Menu key.
  7. Tap Scan.
  8. Tap the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.
  9. If required, enter a key or password.
  10. Tap Connect.

 

APN settings

  1. If you have a battery saver app, check its settings. Some battery saver apps disable the APNs or data connection when the battery level gets low. You need to adjust these settings or uninstall the app to keep the data connection working.
  2. From any Home screen, press the Menu button.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap Wireless & networks.
  5. Tap Mobile networks.
  6. If you see the following check boxes, turn them on:
    • Data Enabled
    • Use Packet Data
  7. Tap Access Point Names.
  8. Press the Menu button.
  9. Tap Reset to default.
