Back up and restore

Backup

The below steps will ensure information added to the device is synced with the configured accounts. To see the type of information that will be synced, tap on each individual configured account.

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Google synchronization.
  4. Tap to select (turn on) or clear (turn off) the check boxes for the following:
    • Background data
    • Auto-sync
    • Gmail
    • Calendar
    • Contacts

Restore

Your data is automatically restored when you sign back into your account.

Reset your device

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloads, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, and Visual Voicemail. It doesn't delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.

Master reset with settings menu

  1. Back up all necessary data.
  2. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  3. Tap Settings.
  4. Tap SD card & storage.
  5. Tap Factory data reset.
  6. Tap Reset phone.
  7. Tap Erase everything.

Master reset with hardware keys

If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys.

  1. If the device is responsive, back up all necessary data.
  2. Power off the phone
  3. While the phone is off, press and hold the Camera key, then turn the phone back on using the Lock/Power key.
  4. Continue to hold down the Camera key while the phone boots up
    • When prompted, release the Camera key
    • On the USB FastBoot/BOOTLOADR MENU screen, press and release the Volume down key to enter the Recovery Mode
      • If done correctly, you will see VOLUME DOWN KEY PRESSED appear on the screen
      • You only have 10 seconds to complete this step before the device powers back on. If that occurs, you will need to start back at Step 1
    • When the "Triangle!" screen appears, tap the bottom right corner of the display to access the Motorola system recovery screen. If this doesn't work, Touch the bottom right corner and make a small circle gesture to access the recovery screen.
      • Highlight the row labeled wipe data/factory reset [Alt+W]. You can use the touch display, volume up/down keys, or the Tinytouch pad to highlight the row
        • Tap Ok to begin the wipe/factory reset
        • When the wipe is complete and the device returns to the Motorola system recover page, highlight the row labeled reboot system now [Menu+Back]. You can use the touch display, volume up/down keys, or the Tinytouch pad to highlight the row
          • Tap Ok to begin the reboot
          • When the device powers back up, you will see the MOTOBLUR setup screen and have the option to create or sign into an existing BLUR account
