Learn about Real Time Text (RTT) for the LG G6.

 

 

Enabling RTT on the device

Real Time Text call is located under the Accessibility and Call Settings menus. Users can make RTT as the default call method, and make all incoming and outgoing calls as RTT or make RTT only on demand by upgrading the call to RTT after call is established.

 

Accessibility menu

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. Tap Accessibility > Hearing.
  3. Tap the RTT Call switch to the ON setting.
  4. Tap RTT operation mode and choose desired option:
    • Visible during calls
    • Always visible
  5. Tap RTT on outgoing call and choose desired option:
    • Manual
    • Automatic

 

Call Settings menu

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. Tap Call.
  3. Under 'ADVANCED,' tap More.
  4. Under 'OTHERS,' tap RTT Call switch to the ON setting.
  5. Tap RTT operation mode and choose desired option:
    • Visible during calls
    • Always visible
  6. Tap RTT on outgoing call and choose desired option:
    • Manual
    • Automatic

 

Making a call with RTT

All calls will be made as RTT by default. If the called party is RTT/TTY capable call establishes as RTT. Mic and speaker are active. If the other party does not have RRT/TTY capability, call downgrades to voice only

 

Always Visible - Automatic

  1. From any home screen, tap the Phone icon.
  2. Tap the Dial tab.
  3. Place the call. The Call button will show the RTT icon.
  4. When the RTT call is successfully placed, Outgoing RTT Call appears below the number called.
  5. When the call has been answered by another RTT capable phone, a text window appears.
  6. Begin typing your message.
  7. If the recipient is not an RTT capable phone, the call downgrades to voice only.

 

Always Visible - Manual

  1. From any home screen, tap the Phone icon.
  2. Tap the Dial tab.
  3. Place the call.

  4. When the popup menu appears, select the call type:
    • RTT
    • Voice
  5. If selecting Voice, place the call as normal.
  6. If selecting RTT, the Call button will show the RTT icon.
  7. When the RTT call is successfully placed, Outgoing RTT Call appears below the number called.
  8. When the call has been answered by another RTT capable phone, a text window appears.
  9. Begin typing your message.
  10. If the recipient is not an RTT capable phone, the call downgrades to voice only.

 

On Demand / Visible during calls

  1. From any home screen, tap the Phone icon.
  2. Tap the Dial tab.
  3. Place the call. The call is initiated as a voice call and can be changed to RTT on demand.
  4. When the popup menu appears, tap Switch to RTT call.
  5. A Switched to RTT call message briefly appears.
  6. When the call has been answered by another RTT capable phone, a text window appears.
  7. Begin typing your message.
  8. If the recipient is not an RTT capable phone, the call downgrades to voice only.

 

Receiving a call with RTT

The other party must be calling you from an RTT capable device and have that service enabled in order to receive an RTT call.

 

Always on

  1. Tap the Answer icon to receive the RTT call.
  2. An Incoming RTT call message displays below the mobile number.
  3. When the text window appears, begin typing your message.

 

Visible during calls only

  1. Tap the Answer icon to receive the RTT call.
  2. When the popup message appears, tap Switch to RTT call.
  3. When the text window appears, begin typing your message.

 

Call History and Transcript

Users can retrieve the transcript for an RTT by turning on transcripts in RTT setting. If the transcripts are available for an RTT call, there will be an RTT logo in front of a record, and by clicking it, users can see the conversation.

 

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. Tap Call.
  3. Under 'ADVANCED,' tap More.
  4. Tap RTT Call.
  5. Tap the RTT transcript switch to the ON setting.
