Installing Nest Security Pack
Before you mount/place your devices
- Register for your T-Mobile ID. You'll need to log into My T-Mobile and get your Nest Security Pack phone number.
- Download and install the Nest app.
- Create a Nest account or sign into your existing one.
- Add your devices in the Nest app. Start with Nest Guard, followed by the Nest Detects or Tags, then the Nest Cam Indoor should be added last.
- Follow the on-screen steps to finish setting up your devices, like choosing which camera you're using.
- Within 48 hours, Nest will send an email to confirm that your Cellular Backup and Nest Aware service is active.
Nest Guard
- Find a good place to put your Nest Guard.
- You'll want a place with good Wi-fi signal.
- It should be placed on a flat surface 28-42 inches above the floor within 2 feet of the edge.
- The motion sensor should face front.
- Plug in the Nest Guard.
Nest Detect
- You can place a Nest Detect on a door, on a window, or on a wall
- Doors will detect motion in the room or open/close
- Window only detects open/close
- Wall only detects motion in the room
- It must be mounted between 5 feet and 6 feet 4 inches above the floor. Higher or lower decreases detection range and causes more false alarms
- It can sense motion in the room up to 15 feet away
- Check out the user guide for additional installation details.
Nest Cam Indoor
- Plug in the Nest Cam Indoor. You'll want a place with good Wi-Fi signal.
- Mount your camera. Check out the user guide for additional details. There are several ways to mount:
- Place it on a flat horizontal surface
- Attach it to a metal surface with the built-in magnet
- Attach to a wall or ceiling with the included mounting plate
Set up replacement device
If you receive a replacement Nest device, you'll need to deactivate your previous device before you can install the new one. This does not cancel service with T-Mobile.
- Remove your existing device from the Nest app.
- Add your replacement device in the Nest app.
- If you replaced your Nest Guard, contact T-Mobile to cancel your existing Nest subscription code and activate a new one.
