Network, APN, and VoLTE: LG V30/V30+

Use these steps to support network settings on the LG V30/V30+.

 

 

 

APN & data settings

To set the Access Point Name (APN) and turn on data settings, follow these steps:

 

Android version 8.0.0

  1. From any home screen, swipe left to locate and tap Settings.
  2. Select the Network tab or scroll to and tap Network & internet > Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
  3. If available, tap the T-Mobile US APN (the bullet point fills with green). If not available, tap the Menu key, and then tap Add APN.
  4. A separate APN must be added manually for the Reset to default option to appear.
  5. Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN:
    • Name: T-Mobile US LTE
    • APN: fast.t-mobile.com
    • Proxy: <Not set>
    • Port: <Not set>
    • Username: <Not set>
    • Password: <Not set>
    • Server: <Not set>
    • MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    • MMS proxy: <Not set>
    • MMS port: <Not set>
    • MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
    • MCC: 310
    • MNC: 260
    • Authentication type: <Not set>
    • APN type: default,supl,mms,xcap

    • APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
    • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
    • Enable/disable APN: <greyed out unless there are multiple APNs>
    • Bearer: Unspecified
  6. Tap the Menu key.
  7. Tap Save.
  8. Tap the desired APN profile you want to use. The bullet point fills with green next to the APN profile.

 

Android version 7.1.2

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, select the Networks tab.
  3. Tap More > Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
  4. If available, tap the T-Mobile US APN (the bullet point fills with green). If not available, tap the Menu key, and then tap Add APN.

  7. Tap the Menu key.
  8. Tap Save.
  9. Tap the desired APN profile you want to use. The bullet point fills with green next to the APN profile.

 

Manual network selection

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

 

Android version 8.0.0

  1. From any home screen, swipe left to locate and tap Settings.
  2. Select the Network tab or scroll to and tap Network & internet > Mobile networks > Network operators > Search networks.
  3. The phone searches for networks. This takes several minutes.
  4. Tap to select the desired network. The phone registers you on that network.

 

Android version 7.1.2

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, select the Networks tab.
  3. Tap More > Mobile networks > Network operators > Search networks.

Switch 2G / 4G

Android version 8.0.0

  1. From any home screen, swipe left to locate and tap Settings.
  2. Select the Network tab or scroll to and tap Network & internet > Mobile networks > Network mode.
  3. Tap one of the following desired band settings:
    • Automatic LTE/3G/2G
    • Automatic 3G/2G
    • LTE/3G
    • 2G only

 

Android version 7.1.2

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, select the Networks tab.
  3. Tap More > Mobile networks > Network mode.
  4. Tap one of the following desired band settings:
    • Automatic LTE/3G/2G
    • Automatic 3G/2G
    • LTE/3G
    • 2G only

 

Turn on / off airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows app and menu use, but prevents voice or Internet use.

 

Android version 8.0.0

  1. From any home screen, swipe left to locate and tap Settings.
  2. Select the Network tab or scroll to and tap Network & internet > Airplane mode switch to turn it on or off.
  3. If prompted, review the Airplane mode message and then tap OK.

 

Android version 7.1.2

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, select the Networks tab.
  3. Tap the Airplane mode switch to turn it on or off.
  4. If prompted, review the Airplane mode message and then tap OK.

 

Turn on / off data roaming

Android version 8.0.0

  1. From any home screen, swipe left to locate and tap Settings.
  2. Select the Network tab or scroll to and tap Network & internet > Mobile networks.
  3. Slide the Data roaming switch to turn it on or off.
  4. If prompted, review the pop-up message and tap YES.

 

Android version 7.1.2

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, select the Networks tab.
  3. Tap More > Mobile networks.
  4. Slide the Data roaming switch to turn it on or off.
  5. If prompted, review the pop-up message and tap YES.

 

Turn on / off mobile data

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, select the Networks tab.
  3. Tap More > Mobile networks.
  4. Slide the Mobile data switch to turn it on or off.

 

VoLTE settings

Android version 8.0.0

    1. From any home screen, swipe left to locate and tap Settings.
    2. Select the Network tab or scroll to and tap Network & internet > Mobile networks > Call.
    3. Slide the VoLTE switch to turn it ON or OFF.

 

Android version 7.1.2

VoLTE is set to the ON position by default on the LG V30 and cannot be disabled. To view the VoLTE settings, follow these steps:

    1. From any home screen, tap Phone.
    2. Tap Menu > Call settings.
    3. View the VoLTE settings.
