Network, APN, and VoLTE: Motorola moto z2 force edition

Use these steps to support network settings on the Motorola moto z2 force edition.

 

 

 

APN & data settings

To set the Access Point Name (APN) and turn on data settings, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen swipe left, tap Settings.
  2. From the 'Wireless & networks' tab, tap More.
  3. Tap Cellular networks > Access Point Names.
  4. If available, tap the T-Mobile LTE APN (the bullet point fills with green). If not available, tap the Menu key, and then tap Add APN. A separate APN must be added manually for the Reset to default option to appear.
  5. Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN:
    • Name: T-Mobile US LTE
    • APN: fast.t-mobile.com
    • Proxy: <Not set>
    • Port: <Not set>
    • Username: <Not set>
    • Password: <Not set>
    • Server: <Not set>
    • MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    • MMS proxy: <Not set>
    • MMS port: <Not set>
    • MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
    • MCC: 310
    • MNC: 260
    • Authentication type: <Not set>
    • APN type: <Not set> OR Internet+MMS
    • APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
    • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
    • Enable/disable APN: <greyed out unless there are multiple APN's>
    • Bearer: Unspecified
  6. Tap the desired APN profile you want to use. The bullet point fills with green next to the APN profile.

 

Manual network selection

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

 

  1. From the Home screen swipe left, tap Settings.
  2. From the 'Wireless & networks' tab, tap More.
  3. Tap Cellular networks > Network operators > Search networks.
  4. The phone searches for networks. This takes several minutes.
  5. Tap to select the desired network. The phone registers you on that network.

 

Switch 2G / 4G

  1. From the Home screen swipe left, tap Settings.
  2. From the 'Wireless & networks' tab, tap More.
  3. Tap Cellular networks > Preferred network type.
  4. Tap one of the following desired band settings:
    • LTE
    • 3G
    • 2G

 

Turn on / off airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows app and menu use, but prevents voice or Internet use.

  1. From the Home screen swipe left, tap Settings.
  2. From the 'Wireless & networks' tab, tap More > Airplane mode.

 

Turn on / off data roaming

  1. From the Home screen swipe left, tap Settings.
  2. From the 'Wireless & networks' tab, tap More.
  3. Tap Cellular networks.
  4. Slide the Data roaming switch to turn it on or off.
