First-time use: Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime

After turning on your device the first time, you may see a setup wizard to help you set up the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime.



First-time use

  1. Make sure the battery and SIM card are inserted.
  2. Tap English or select your desired language. If necessary, tap Accessibility to adjust any necessary accessibility settings.
  3. Tap Start.
  4. On the Wi-Fi calling notice, tap SKIP or LEARN MORE. If desired, tap the Wi-Fi Switch to turn ON Wi-Fi. Below, tap an available network to connect, complete the connection setup and tap NEXT.
  5. Read the Terms and conditions for the End user license and tap NEXT.
  6. Confirm that you agree to the Terms and conditions by tapping AGREE.
  7. The device will check if any software updates are available and move on automatically if there are none.
  8. On Add your account, to log into your Google account, tap either:
    • Enter your email (for existing):
      1. Enter your password, then tap Next.
      2. Read the "Google services" information and tap NEXT.
      3. On "Get your apps & data," select the previous device you want to restore from and select from the list of apps then tap RESTORE.
      4. On "Google services," read through the Google services options and tap NEXT.
      5. While the phone connects to Google servers to download your information it will display a "Restoring" screen.
    • OR CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT (for new)
      1. If desired, enter your name in the First and Last fields.
      2. Tap the NEXT arrow.
      3. Enter in the desired username, then tap NEXT.
      4. Enter in the password and confirm, then tap NEXT.
      5. On Rescue info, setup your MSISDN or select REMIND ME LATER, then tap NEXT. A confirmation will display to send a message to the entered MSISDN.
      6. On Google services, read through the Google services options and tap NEXT.
      7. Once confirmed, tap NEXT.
      8. On Set up payment info, select one of the following:
        • Add credit or debit card
        • Enable T-Mobile -US billing
        • Redeem
        • Remind me later
      9. Tap NEXT. Fill in the requested information, then tap NEXT.
      10. On Google services, read through the Google services options and tap NEXT.
  9. On the Device lock screen, select the lock option you wish to use.
  10. On Secure Startup, select Require 'Security credential' when device turns on OR Do not require then tap CONTINUE.
  11. Follow the security credential input, then tap DONE twice.
  12. On the NOTIFICATIONS screen, choose your option and select DONE.
  13. 'Restoring' will display while the device is updated.
  14. On the 'Samsung account' screen, choose one of the following options:
    • If you have a Samsung account, tap Sign in to sign in to your account. Follow the prompts
    • If you want to open a new Samsung account, tap Create new account and then follow the prompts.
    • Tap Skip to log into or open a Samsung account later.
  15. On More useful features, select from the following:
    • Secure your stuff
    • Set screen layout
    • Get weather forecasts
    • Agree to all
    • Consent to the use of your location by the content provider
    • Consent to turn on Location and change Locating method
  16. Tap FINISH.
  17. On Device Data Collection, check or uncheck Allow diagnostics then tap NEXT.
  18. On Connection Assistant, tap Accept to allow or Decline to stop the collection.
  19. On Personalized Offers, Accept to allow or Decline to stop the offers.
  20. When finished, your device will now open to Home screen.
  21. When the Smart Switch notification appears, tap Start to transfer content from an old device or Later to start the transfer at a different time. It is recommended to connect to a Wi-Fi network during the content transfer.
