Internal memory (RAM): Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime

Learn how to use the task manager and free up memory on the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime.

Manage memory

Restart device regularly

You should restart your phone at least once per day.

  1. Press and hold the Power key.
  2. Tap Restart.

Reduce memory use

The built-in clean storage option assists in keeping the memory at optimal levels. Animated widgets and widgets that update information use the most memory. If your phone is running slow, you can reduce the amount of memory it is using.

Clean storage

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > Device maintenance.
  3. Tap Storage.
  4. In the Storage read out section, if storage is able to be cleaned up, the CLEAN NOW button will be available along with the amount of storage that will be freed up.
  5. Tap CLEAN NOW.
  6. The device will automatically clean the memory in use and display the impacted apps that have been cleaned.

Turn off Wallpaper motion

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > Wallpapers and themes.
  3. Tap the Wallpapers tab.
  4. Tap the desired image and tap Home screen.
  5. Follow the prompts to set a new wallpaper that replaces the current wallpaper. Uncheck the Motion effect.
  6. Tap SET WALLPAPER.

Remove Widgets

  1. From the desired Home screen, touch and hold on the widget.
  2. Once the App menu opens, tap Remove.

Manage apps to keep your device running smoothly

  • Use Manage apps to update apps, clear app cache and data, recent apps, and uninstall an app.
  • Never install a third-party Task Manager or Battery Manager. These apps interfere with how device software works.
  • Research and monitor new apps that you install.
    • Read app reviews before installing. Not all apps run smoothly on phones. Read customer reviews before downloading an app to see if it has a history of not working properly.
    • If your device starts having problems after installing an app, consider uninstalling the app.
