Camera

How to adjust the camera settings

 

To adjust the settings for how the camera takes or displays pictures, follow these steps:

1. From the Home screen, press the Camera key on the side of the phone.

2. Press the Menu key.

3. Scroll to and select Options.

4. Scroll to and select the desired setting:

  • Default Flash Setting

o Off: The flash never goes off when taking a picture.

o On: The flash always goes off when taking a picture.

o Automatic: The device detects the light level in your current environment and determines whether or not a flash is needed for each picture.

  • White Balance: This setting changes the contrast of the pictures taken to optimal for the listed conditions:

o Automatic: The device automatically detects what type of environment you are in and adjusts the contrast for each picture.

o Sunny: Ideal for outdoor pictures on a sunny day

o Cloudy: Ideal for outdoor pictures on a cloudy day.

o Night: Ideal for pictures in low-light conditions.

o Incandescent: Ideal for indoor pictures with incandescent lighting.

o Fluorescent: Ideal for indoor pictures with fluorescent lighting.

  • Picture Size: This changes the size of pictures taken. Larger pictures require more storage space.

o Large (1600 x 1200)

o Medium (1024 x 768)

o Small (640 x 480)

  • Picture Quality: This changes the quality of pictures taken. Finer quality pictures require more storage space.

o Superfine: Best quality

o Fine: Medium quality

o Normal: Lowest quality

  • Color Effect

o Normal: With this selected, the device takes color pictures.

o Black & White: With this selected the device takes black and white pictures.

o Sepia: With this selected the device takes pictures with a sepia tint for an old-fashioned look.

  • Geotagging: This setting adds GPS coordinates to new photos.

o Enabled

o Disabled

  • Store Pictures: This gives you the option to store pictures you take to either the device

o Folder: This setting allows you to change the default location to which images save when taken with the device camera.

5. Press the Menu button.

6. Scroll to and select Save.

 

How to view or access pictures stored on the device

 

To view pictures, follow these steps:

1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.

2. Scroll to and select the Media icon.

3. Scroll to and select the Pictures icon.

4. Select All Pictures.

5. Scroll to and select the picture you want to view.

 

How to delete or remove pictures stored on the handset

 

To delete or remove pictures, follow these steps:

1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.

2. Scroll to and select the Media icon.

3. Scroll to and select the Pictures icon.

4. Scroll to and select All Pictures.

5. Scroll to and select the picture you want to delete.

6. Press the Menu key.

7. Scroll to and select Delete.

8. Select Delete.

 

How to take or save a picture or self-portrait

 

To take a picture, follow these steps:

1. From the Home screen, press the Camera key on the side of the phone.

2. Frame the subject.

3. Press the trackball.

Note:

If no media card is inserted, pictures save to Menu, Media, Pictures, Picture Folders by default.
If a media card is inserted, pictures are saved to Menu, Media, Pictures, Picture Folders, Media card by default.

Music Player

How to access the music player

 

To access the music player, follow these steps:

1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.

2. Scroll to and select the Music icon.

3. Scroll to and select All Songs.

4. Scroll to and select the desired music file.

 

FM radio is not supported

We're sorry, but this is not an available feature on your particular device model.

 

How to move music from a computer to the memory card in the device

 

This device has a portable music player, which supports the following file formats and bitrates:

  • MP3
  • WMA
  • AAC
  • AAC+
  • eAAC+

To move files from a computer to the handset memory card, follow these steps:

1. Connect the small end of your USB cable to your device and the large end of the cable to your computer.

2. On your computer, open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager application.

3. Click the Media icon.

4. Under Media Manager, click Start.

5. Under View connected devices, click BlackBerry 8900 PIN-[your PIN].

6. In the bottom part of the window under My Devices, click BlackBerry 8900-PIN[your PIN] [Media Card].

7. Browse to the folder where you want to save the files.

8. In the top part of the window, browse to the file that you want to move.

9. Click Copy Down.

  • The 'Copy Files' window appears.

10. Select one of the following methods to copy the files to your device:

  • Convert for optimal playback: To automatically convert the files to the optimal format and size for your device.
  • Copy with no conversion: To copy the files with the existing format and size.
  • Advanced conversion options: To select a destination format and size.

11. Click OK.

 

How to add files to a playlist

 

To add music files to an existing playlist, follow these steps:

1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.

2. Scroll to and select the Music icon.

3. Scroll to and select All Songs.

4. Scroll to the music file that you want to add to a playlist.

5. Press the Menu key.

6. Scroll to and select Add to Playlist.

7. Scroll to and select the playlist.

 

How to create a playlist

 

To create a playlist, follow these steps:

1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.

2. Scroll to and select the Media icon.

3. Select the Music icon.

4. Scroll to and select Playlists.

5. Scroll to and select [New Playlist].

6. Scroll to and select Standard Playlist.

7. Enter the name of the playlist.

8. Press the Menu key.

9. Select Add Songs.

10. Scroll to and select the desired song.

11. Repeat steps 7-9 to additional songs.

12. Press the Menu key.

13. Scroll to and select Save.

 

How to delete files from a playlist

 

To delete files from a playlist, follow these steps:

1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.

2. Scroll to and select the Music icon.

3. Scroll to and select Playlists.

4. Scroll to the playlist.

5. Press the Menu key.

6. Scroll to and select View.

7. Scroll to the song that you wish to delete.

8. Press the Menu key.

9. Scroll to and select Remove.

10. Scroll to and select OK.

11. Press the Menu key.

12. Scroll to and select Save.

1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.

2. Scroll to and select the Music icon.

3. Scroll to and select Playlists.

4. Scroll to the playlist that you wish to delete.

5. Press the Menu key.

How to access, play, or view video clips saved on the handset

 

To view video clips, follow these steps:

1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.

2. Scroll to and select the Media icon.

3. Scroll to and select the Videos icon.

4. Scroll to and select the desired video.

 

How to delete video clips

 

To delete video clips, follow these steps:

1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.

2. Scroll to and select the Media icon.

3. Scroll to and select the Videos icon.

4. Scroll to the desired video.

5. Press the Menu key.

6. Scroll to and select Delete.

7. Select Delete.

 

How to record video

 

To record video, follow these steps:

1. From the Home screen, press the Right convenience key (on the side of the device).

2. Press the Menu key.

3. Scroll to and select Video Camera.

4. Frame the subject.

5. Press the trackball to begin recording.

6. Press the trackball again to stop recording.
