How to charge the battery

 

To charge the battery, follow these steps:

Note: If the battery level is below 25%, use the AC adapter instead of a car charger or USB cable.

Using the travel charger

  1. Connect the small end of the USB cable to the micro-USB port on the side of the device.
  2. Plug the power adapter into a power outlet.
  3. Charge the battery to full power.

Using a USB cable

  1. Connect the small end of the USB cable to the micro-USB port on the side of the device.
  2. Connect the large end of the cable to the USB port on your computer.
  3. Charge the battery to full power.

 

How to insert or remove the battery

 

To insert or remove the battery, follow these steps:

To insert

  1. Slide the release button up and lift off the back cover.

  2. Insert the battery so the gold contacts on the battery align with the gold contacts on the device.

  3. Replace the back cover and snap it into place.

 

To remove

  1. Slide the release button up and lift the cover away.
  2. Lift and remove the battery.
  3. Replace the back cover and snap it into place.

To insert or remove the SIM card, follow these steps:

 

To insert

  1. Slide the release button on the back cover and lift the cover away.

  3. Slide the SIM card into the SIM card holder with the gold contacts facing down and the notched corner of the SIM facing out of the slot.

How to set the default memory location

 

To set the default memory location, follow these steps:

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Scroll to and select the Camera icon.
  3. Press the Menu key.
  4. Scroll to and select Options.
  5. Scroll to and select Store Pictures.
  6. Scroll to and select In Device Memory or On Media Card.
  7. Press the Menu key.
  8. Scroll to and select Save.

    • Note: This option only appears when a memory card is installed in the device.
  6. Press the Menu key.
  7. Scroll to and select Properties.

  2. Scroll to and select Settings.
  3. Scroll to and select Options.
  4. Scroll to and select Memory.
  5. Press the Menu key.
  6. Scroll to and select Format.

Note: Formatting the memory card deletes any data that is saved on the memory card.

7. Scroll to and select Yes to confirm and format the memory card.

  2. Hold the memory card so that the metal contacts on the card face down.
  3. Slide the memory card into the memory card slot next to the SIM.
  4. Replace the back cover and click it into place.

  1. Slide the release button and remove the back cover.
  2. Gently pull the retaining arm back and slide the memory card from the memory card slot.
  3. Replace the back cover and click it into place.

1. To copy files from a memory card to a computer using a USB cable, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect the small end of your USB cable to your device and the large end of the cable to your computer.
  2. On your computer, open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager application.

  4. Under Media Manager, click Start.
  5. Under View connected devices, click BlackBerry 8900 PIN-[your PIN].

4. Scroll to and select the file you want to move.

5. Press the Menu key.

6. Scroll to and select Move.

7. Select Up.

8. Scroll to and select Explore.

9. Scroll to and select Device Memory.

10. Scroll to and select Move Into.

To copy files from a computer to a memory card using a USB cable, follow these steps:

  1. Connect the small end of your USB cable to your device and the large end of the cable to your computer.

  4. Under Media Manager, click Start.
  5. Under View connected devices, click BlackBerry 8900 PIN-[your PIN] [Media Card].

  7. Browse to the folder where you want to save the files.
  8. In the top part of the window, browse to the file that you want to move.
  9. Click Copy Down.
  • The 'Copy Files' window appears.

10. Select one of the following methods to copy the files to your device:

  • Convert for optimal playback: To automatically convert the files to the optimal format and size for your device.
  • Copy with no conversion: To copy the files with the existing format and size.

Advanced conversion options: To select a destination format and size.

11. Click OK.
