Use these steps to support voice commands on the Samsung Galaxy S8+.
Open an app
- From the Home screen, long press the home button to open Google voice assistant..
- If necessary, tap the microphone to activate it.
- Speak Open + [name of app].
Voice dial a contact
- From the Home screen, long press the home button to open Google voice assistant.
- Speak Call + [name of contact].
- If necessary, tap the desired phone number if the contact has more than one number. You can also speak the number category at the end of step 4 (for example, + [Work] )
Write a text message (SMS) with voice
Samsung keyboard
- From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
- Tap Messaging.
- Tap the Tap to compose message icon.
- Choose or enter the contact in the recipient field.
- Tap the Enter message field.
- Tap the Microphone key located two keys to the left of the Space key.
- Tap the Microphone icon.
- Speak the desired text.
- To change the language:
- Tap Default: English (US).
- Tap Add more languages.
- Tap Automatic to clear the check box.
- Tap the desired language(s) to select the check box(es).
- Tap the Back key to return to the keyboard.
- Tap the Microphone key again.
- To return to the keyboard:
- Tap the Keyboard icon, or:
- Tap Back key > message field.
- When finished, tap the Send icon.
Google keyboard
- From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
- Tap Messaging.
- Tap the Tap to compose message icon.
- Choose an option for entering the message recipient:
- Contacts Option
- Tap the Contacts icon to select one of your Contacts.
- To the left of the desired contact,
- Tap the Check box to select the Check box.
- Tap Done.
- Recipient Option
- Tap the Enter recipient field.
- Enter the recipient's phone number.
- Contacts Option
- Tap the Enter message field.
- Tap the Microphone key.
- Speak the desired text.
- You will be automatically directed back to the keyboard when you stop speaking.
- When finished, tap the Send icon.
