Backlight & display: Samsung Galaxy S8

Learn how to customize the display and adjust the backlight on the Samsung Galaxy S8.

 

 

 

Backlight: Change brightness

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. If necessary, tap Automatic brightness to move the switch and turn off.
  5. Touch and drag the Brightness level Slider to the desired setting.

 

Backlight: Timeout

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Tap Screen timeout.
  5. Select the desired time setting:
    • 15 seconds
    • 30 seconds
    • 1 minute
    • 2 minutes
    • 5 minutes
    • 10 minutes

 

Widget, Folder, or Shortcut: Add

 

Widget or Shortcut

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Swipe right to find the desired app or widget.
  3. Touch and hold the app or widget to open the Icon menu, then tap Add shortcut to Home or continue to hold the icon until the Home screen appears.
  4. Slide the app or widget into place and release your finger.

 

Folder

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Swipe right to find the desired app or widget.
  3. Touch and hold the app, then tap Add shortcut to Home or continue to hold the icon until the Home screen appears.
  4. Slide the app or widget into place and release your finger.
  5. Repeat the first 3 steps and hover the second app on top of the first app. Release the second app to create a new folder.
  6. The Enter folder name screen opens and the option to edit the name and add more apps to the folder is now available.
  7. Tap Add apps, place checks in the additional apps you want to move and tap ADD.

 

Widget, Folder, or Shortcut: Delete

 

Widget or Shortcut

  1. Touch and hold a shortcut or widget on any Home screen to make the Icon menu appear.
  2. In the Icon menu, tap Remove or Remove shortcut.

 

Folder

  1. Touch and hold the app, then tap Delete or Select > Remove shortcut to only remove the folder from the Home screen.
  2. The folder will still be available in the Apps tray if you only select Remove shortcut.

 

Status Lights

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Tap LED indicator to move the switch to turn ON or OFF.

 

Wallpaper: Home screen

  1. From any Home screen, touch and hold an empty spot.
  2. Tap Wallpapers and themes.
  3. Tap the Wallpapers tab.
  4. Tap the desired image and tap Home screen. If you select an infinity wallpaper, it will automatically be applied to all screens.
  5. Tap SET AS WALLPAPER.
  6. If the image is not showing:
    1. Tap Gallery or another available option.
    2. Tap the desired image.
    3. Tap Set Wallpaper.

 

Wallpaper: Lock screen

  1. From any Home screen, touch and hold an empty spot.
  2. Tap Wallpapers.
  3. Tap the desired image and tap Lock screen. If you select an infinity wallpaper, it will automatically be applied to all screens.
  4. Tap SET AS WALLPAPER.
  5. If the image is not showing:
    1. Tap Gallery or another available option.
    2. Tap the desired image.
    3. Tap Set Wallpaper.
