Camera

Camera settings

To adjust the settings for how the camera takes or displays pictures, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Camera icon.
    Note: If a media (memory) card is installed the first time the camera application is accessed, a pop-up box appears with the message ““Media card detected. Always save pictures to media card?” Tap Yes or No as desired.
  3. Press the Menu key.
  4. Scroll to and select any of the following options to adjust the settings as desired:
    • Flash to enable or disable flash options:
      • Auto
      • On
      • Off
    • Autofocus to select the focus options:
      • Continuous
      • Single Shot
      • Off
    • Geotagging to tag a picture with your phone’s GPS location at the time the picture is captured:
      • On
      • Off
    • Scene Modes to select ideal settings for a captured picture:
      • Auto: Ideal for capturing a wide range of subjects under most conditions.
      • Face Detection: Ideal for detecting faces and putting them in focus in most lighting conditions.
      • Portrait: Ideal for capturing people; skin tones are accurately reproduced.
      • Sports: Ideal for capturing sports or other quickly moving subjects.
      • Landscape: Ideal for capturing bright, outdoor scenes; enhances the details and sharpness of the scene.
      • Party: Ideal for capturing people in dim, indoor environments.
      • Close-Up: Ideal for capturing subjects that are close the camera; enhances the detail and sharpness of close-up subjects.
      • Snow: Ideal for capturing snow scenes; colors are accurately reproduced in scenes that are primarily white.
      • Beach: Ideal for capturing beach scenes; colors are accurately reproduced in scenes of sea, sand, and sky.
      • Night: Ideal for capturing dim, outdoor scenes.
      • Text: Ideal for capturing text on white backgrounds; enhances the detail and sharpness of text.
    • Options to adjust these additional settings as desired:
      • Digital Zoom to check or uncheck for digital zoom using the Volume Up / Down keys
      • Image Stabilization to check or uncheck for image stabilization
      • Picture Review to increase or decrease the time to review a picture:
        • Off
        • 3 Seconds
        • 5 Seconds
        • 8 Seconds
        • Hold
      • Image Size to change the size of a captured picture:
        • Large (2560 x 1920)
        • Medium (1024 x 768)
        • Small (640 x 480)
      • Store Pictures to choose storing pictures to the phone’s memory or to a memory card, if available:
        • On Device
        • On Media Card
  5. When finished, press the Menu key.
  6. Select Save.

 

Pictures – Access

To view pictures, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Media icon.
  3. Tap Pictures.
  4. Navigate to the folder that contains the picture you want to view.
  5. Scroll to and tap the desired picture.

 

Pictures – Delete

To delete pictures from the phone’s internal memory or the memory card, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Media icon.
  3. Tap Pictures.
  4. Navigate to the folder that contains a picture you want to delete.
  5. Tap the picture.
  6. Press the Menu key.
  7. Scroll to and tap Delete.
  8. Tap Delete again.

 

Pictures – Take / capture

To take a picture, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Camera icon.
  3. Frame your subject.
  4. Tap the Camera icon, press the Trackpad, or press the Convenience key to take a picture.

Music player

Access music player

To access the music player, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Media icon.
  3. Tap the Music icon.
  4. Scroll to and tap one of the following options:
    • All Songs
    • Artists
    • Albums
    • Genres
    • Playlists
  5. Scroll to and tap a song to play.

 

Amazon MP3 – Access

To access the Amazon MP3 music store, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Media icon.
  3. Tap the Music Store icon.

 

FM radio – Not supported

We’re sorry, but this feature is not available on your device.

 

Slacker® Radio – Access

To access Slacker Radio, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Media icon.
  3. Scroll to and tap Slacker Radio.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to register for a free account, or enter your Slacker Radio account email address and password.
  5. Tap Sign In.

 

Move / copy music – From computer to memory card

To copy music files from a computer to the phone’s memory card, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect the small end of your USB cable to your device and the large end of the cable to your computer.
  2. On your phone, a dialog box appears with the options USB Drive, Sync Media, and Charge Only.
  3. Tap USB Drive.
    Note: To access files without using BlackBerry Desktop Software, tap USB Drive to turn on Mass Storage Mode and copy the files via the Windows file explorer.
  4. On your computer, open the BlackBerry Desktop Software application.
  5. Under Media Sync, click Music.
  6. Click the check boxes to select the music you want to copy.
  7. Click Sync.
  8. Do not disconnect your phone until all the music has been synchronized from the computer.
  9. When synchronization is complete, click Close.

 

Playlist – Add files

To add music files to an existing standard playlist, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Media icon.
  3. Tap the Music icon.
  4. Scroll to and tap Playlists.
  5. Scroll to and tap the desired playlist.
  6. Tap Add Songs.
  7. Scroll to and tap the desired song.
  8. Repeat to add additional songs.
  9. Press the Menu key.
  10. Select Save.

 

Playlist – Create

To create a playlist, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Media icon.
  3. Tap the Music icon.
  4. Scroll to and tap Playlists.
  5. Tap New Playlist.
  6. Tap to select one of the following options:
    • Standard Playlist (songs you choose manually)
      1. Enter a name for the new playlist.
      2. Tap OK.
      3. Press the Menu key.
      4. Select Add Songs.
      5. Scroll to and tap the desired song.
      6. Repeat to add additional songs.
      7. Press the Menu key.
      8. Select Save.
    • Automatic Playlist (songs that meet a set of criteria)
      1. Enter a name for the new playlist.
      2. Tap OK.
      3. If desired, tap the Plus sign (+) icon next to Songs by these Artists.
      4. Scroll to and tap the desired artist.
      5. Repeat to add additional artists.
      6. If desired, tap the Plus sign (+) icon next to In these Albums.
      7. Scroll to and tap the desired album.
      8. Repeat to add additional albums.
      9. If desired, tap the Plus sign (+) icon next to Of these Genres.
      10. Scroll to and tap the desired genre.
      11. Repeat to add additional genres.
      12. Press the Menu key.
      13. Select Save.

 

Playlist – Remove files

To remove files from a playlist, follow these steps:

 

Standard playlist

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Media icon.
  3. Tap the Music icon.
  4. Scroll to and tap Playlists.
  5. Scroll to and tap the desired playlist.
  6. Scroll to and touch and hold the song you want to remove.
  7. Tap Remove.
  8. Tap OK.
  9. Press the Menu key.
  10. Select Save.

 

Automatic playlist

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Media icon.
  3. Tap the Music icon.
  4. Scroll to and tap Playlists.
  5. Scroll to and tap the desired playlist.
  6. If desired, under Songs by these Artists, tap the Minus sign (-) icon next to the artist you want to remove.
  7. Tap OK.
  8. Repeat to remove additional artists.
  9. If desired, under In these Albums, tap the Minus sign (-) icon next to the album you want to remove.
  10. Tap OK.
  11. Repeat to remove additional albums.
  12. If desired, under Of these Genres, tap the Minus sign (-) icon next to the genre you want to remove.
  13. Tap OK.
  14. Repeat to remove additional genres.
  15. Press the Menu key.
  16. Select Save.

 

Playlist – Delete playlist

To delete a playlist, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Media icon.
  3. Tap the Music icon.
  4. Scroll to and tap Playlists.
  5. Scroll to and touch and hold the desired playlist.
  6. Tap Delete.
  7. Tap Delete again.

 

Playlist – Play

To play music files, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Media icon.
  3. Tap the Music icon.
  4. Scroll to and tap Playlists.
  5. Scroll to and tap the desired playlist.
  6. Tap any song to play a standard playlist.
  7. Tap Play to play an automatic playlist.

 

Supported music files

Your phone has a portable music player that supports the following file formats and bitrates:

 

  • AAC•
  • AAC+
  • eAAC
  • MIDI
  • MP3•
  • MPEG4
  • WMA•
  • WAV

Video

Access / play

To view videos stored on the phone’s internal memory or memory card, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Media icon.
  3. Tap the Videos icon.
  4. Scroll to and tap the video you want to view.

 

Record

To record video, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Media icon.
  3. Tap the Video Camera icon.
  4. Frame the subject.
  5. Tap the Record icon to begin recording.
  6. Tap the Pause icon and then tap the Stop icon to stop recording.

Your phone has a portable video player that supports the following file formats and bitrates:

  • 3GP2•
  • AAC

YouTube

Access YouTube

To access YouTube from your phone, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap YouTube.
  3. If prompted, tap Go to YouTube or Upload Video.

 

Search for videos

To search for YouTube videos, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap YouTube.
  3. If prompted, tap Go to YouTube.
  4. Tap the text entry box.
  5. Enter your search text.
  6. Tap Search.

 

View video categories

To view YouTube video categories, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap YouTube.
  3. If prompted, tap Go to YouTube.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Browse Videos.
  5. Tap All Categories.
  6. Tap the category you want to browse.

 

Upload video

To upload videos, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap YouTube.
  3. If prompted, tap Upload Video.
  4. Tap the video you want to upload.
  5. If prompted, enter your YouTube or Google Account username and password.
  6. Tap Sign In.
  7. Follow the on-screen YouTube instructions for uploading a video file.

 

Watch video

To watch YouTube videos, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap YouTube.
  3. If prompted, tap Go to YouTube.
  4. Locate and tap the video you want to watch.
