Backup & restore: LG G6

Learn how to back up and restore apps, contacts, photos, and data on the LG G6.

 

 

 

Back up apps

Tab view

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap the General tab.
  3. Under 'PHONE MANAGEMENT,' tap Backup & reset.
  4. Under 'GOOGLE BACKUP,' tap Back up my data.
  5. Tap the Back up my data switch to the ON setting.

 

List view

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Under 'PERSONAL,' tap Backup & reset.
  3. Under 'GOOGLE BACKUP,' tap Back up my data.
  4. Tap the Back up my data switch to the ON setting.

 

Back up contacts

Tab view

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap the General tab.
  3. Under 'PHONE MANAGEMENT,' tap Backup & reset.
  4. Tap LG Backup > Backup & restore.
  5. Tap Back up data and check that SD card is selected.
  6. If prompted, sign in to your LG Account to continue backup.
  7. Select Personal data.
  8. Deselect the other options.
  9. Expand the Personal data folder and ensure Contacts is selected.
  10. Tap Start to begin the backup. This may take several minutes.
  11. When 'Back up completed' displays, tap Done.

 

List view

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Under 'PERSONAL,' tap Backup & reset.
  3. Tap LG Backup > Backup & restore.
  4. Tap Back up data and check that SD card is selected.
  5. If prompted, sign in to your LG Account to continue backup.
  6. Select Personal data.
  7. Deselect the other options.
  8. Expand the Personal data folder and ensure Contacts is selected.
  9. Tap Start to begin the backup. This may take several minutes.
  10. When 'Back up completed' displays, tap Done.

 

 

Back up contacts to SD card

Tab view

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap the General tab.
  3. Under 'PHONE MANAGEMENT,' tap Backup & reset.
  4. Tap LG Backup > Backup & restore.
  5. Tap Backup data and check that 'SD Card' is selected.
  6. Select the items you wish to backup.
  7. Tap Start to begin the backup. This may take several minutes.
  8. When 'Backup completed' displays, tap Done.

 

List view

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Under 'PERSONAL,' tap Backup & reset.
  3. Tap LG Backup > Backup & restore.
  4. Tap Backup data and check that 'SD Card' is selected.
  5. Select the items you wish to backup.
  6. Tap Start to begin the backup. This may take several minutes.
  7. When 'Backup completed' displays, tap Done.

 

Back up media & pictures

Tab view

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap the General tab
  3. Under 'PHONE MANAGEMENT,' tap Backup & reset.
  4. Tap LG Backup > Backup & restore.
  5. Select Media data. Deselect the non-media options.
  6. Expand the Media data folder and make desired selections.
  7. Tap Start to begin the backup. This may take several minutes.
  8. When Back up completed displays, tap Done.

 

List view

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Under 'PERSONAL,' tap Backup & reset.
  3. Tap LG Backup > Backup & restore.
  4. Select Media data. Deselect the non-media options.
  5. Expand the Media data folder and make desired selections.

From computer - PC

  1. Connect your phone to a PC using the MicroUSB cable attached to your LG charger.
  2. If prompted, select Media sync (MTP).
  3. On the PC, open My computer.
  4. Right-click the backup file (ending with .sbf) and select Copy.
  5. Right-click location to save backup file to on computer.
  6. Paste the backup file to the PC.

 

Transfer to SD card

  1. Tap File Manager > All Files.
  2. Tap Internal storage.
  3. Navigate to the desired file or folders you want to move to your SD card.Move
  4. Tap the manage files icon (down-arrow).
  5. To  the left of each desired file or folder, select the check box.
  6. Tap SD card.
  7. Navigate inside your SD card to where you want to move the files or folders.
  8. Tap Move.

 

Restore apps

Tab view

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap the General tab.
  3. Under 'PHONE MANAGEMENT,' tap Backup & reset.
  4. Under 'LG BACKUP,' tap Restore from backup.
  5. Locate and tap the contacts backup.
  6. Tap Start to begin the restore. This may take several minutes.
  7. When 'Restored' displays, tap Done.
  8. The phone reboots to complete the restore.

 

List view

  4. Under 'LG BACKUP,' tap Restore from backup.
  5. Locate and tap the media backup.
  6. Tap Start to begin the restore. This may take several minutes.

  8. The phone reboots to complete the restore.

 

From computer - PC

  1. Connect your phone to a PC using the MicroUSB cable attached to your LG charger.
  2. If prompted, select Media sync (MTP).
  3. On the PC, open My computer.
  4. Right-click the backup file (ending with .sbf) and select Copy.
  5. Right-click location to save backup file to on the phone folder on the PC
  6. Paste the backup file to the desired phone folder on the PC.
