Network, APN, and VoLTE: LG K20 Plus

Use these steps to support network settings on the LG K20 Plus.

 

 

 

APN & data settings

To set the Access Point Name (APN) and turn on data settings, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, select the Networks tab, then tap MORE under CONNECTIVITY.
  3. If using List view, tap MORE under WIRELESS NETWORKS.
  4. Tap Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
  5. If available, tap the T-Mobile US APN (the bullet point fills with green). If not available, tap Menu > Add APN.
  6. A separate APN must be added manually for the Reset to default option to appear.
  7. Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN:
    • Name: T-Mobile US LTE
    • APN: fast.t-mobile.com
    • Proxy: <Not set>
    • Port: <Not set>
    • Username: <Not set>
    • Password: <Not set>
    • Server: <Not set>
    • MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    • MMS proxy: <Not set>
    • MMS port: <Not set>
    • MCC: 310
    • MNC: 260
    • Authentication type: <Not set>
    • APN type: default,supl,mms,xcap
    • APN protocol: IPv6
    • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
  8. Tap Menu > Save.
  9. Tap the desired APN profile you want to use. The bullet point fills with green next to the APN profile.

 

Manual network selection

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

 

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, select the Networks tab, then tap MORE under CONNECTIVITY.
  3. If using List view, tap MORE under WIRELESS NETWORKS.
  4. Tap Mobile networks > Network operators > Search networks > YES.
  5. The phone searches for networks. This takes several minutes.
  6. Tap to select the desired network. The phone registers you on that network.

 

Switch 2G / 4G

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, select the Networks tab, then tap MORE under CONNECTIVITY.
  3. If using List view, tap MORE under WIRELESS NETWORKS.
  4. Tap Mobile networks > Network mode.
  5. Tap one of the following desired band settings:
    • GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto
    • GSM/WCDMA auto
    • WCDMA only
    • GSM only

 

Turn on / off airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows app and menu use, but prevents voice or Internet use.

 

Option one

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, select the Networks tab.
  3. Tap the Airplane mode switch to turn it on or off.
  4. If prompted, review the pop-up message and then tap TURN ON.

 

Option two

  1. From any home screen, pull down the notification shade at the top.
  2. Tap the down arrow on the right to expand the quick settings.
  3. Tap the Airplane mode icon to turn mobile data on or off.
  4. If prompted, review the pop-up message and then tap TURN ON

 

Turn on / off data roaming

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, select the Networks tab, then tap MORE under CONNECTIVITY.
  3. If using List view, tap MORE under WIRELESS NETWORKS.
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
  5. Tap the Data roaming switch to turn it on or off.
  6. If prompted, review the pop-up message, then tap Yes.

 

Turn on / off mobile data

Option one

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, select the Networks tab.
  3. Tap the Mobile data switch to turn it on or off.
  4. If prompted, tap TURN OFF.

 

Option two

  1. From any home screen, tap Apps > Settings.
  2. If using Tab view, select the Networks tab, then tap MORE under CONNECTIVITY.
  3. If using List view, tap MORE under WIRELESS NETWORKS.
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
  5. Tap the Mobile data switch to turn it on or off.

 

Option three

  1. From any home screen, pull down the notification shade at the top.
  2. Tap the down arrow on the right to expand the quick settings.
  3. Tap the Data icon to turn mobile data on or off.

 

Turn on / off VoLTE

  1. From any home screen, tap Phone.
  2. Tap Menu > Call settings.
  3. Tap the VoLTE switch to turn it on or off.
