Use these steps to set up and use the SyncUP Drive. See how it works with SyncUP DRIVE tutorials.

 

 

 

Insert / Remove SIM card

Depending on your version of SyncUp Drive, you may not be able to remove your SIM card.

 

Embedded SIM

If your device has an embedded SIM card, it cannot be removed. You can find the SIM card number on the device label, next to ICCID.

 

Physical SIM

  1. Insert the tip of the tray eject tool to eject the SIM card tray.
  2. Place the micro-SIM card on the tray with the gold-colored contacts facing down and slide the tray back into place.

Install the SyncUP (OBD2) device

  1. Before you begin, create an account and add a car in the SyncUP DRIVE app.
  2. Make sure your vehicle is parked outside in a safe location and the engine is turned off. Do not insert or remove the SyncUP DRIVE unless the vehicle is off.
  3. Connect your OBD2 device into the OBD connector port.
    • The OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) connector is usually located on or under the dash, on the driver’s side.
    • For additional assistance with locating the OBD port, visit https://www.t-mobile.com/offers/syncup and choose your vehicle.
    • Do not force your OBD2 device into the port as this can damage the device.
  4. Start your vehicle’s engine and let it run for at least 30 seconds.
  5. Once powered up, your OBD2 device automatically searches and connects to the T-Mobile network. It may take 5-10 minutes to connect on the first use.
  6. Connect your smartphone or other devices to your network.
    • Use your normal Wi-Fi application to connect to the wireless network.
    • Select the Wi-Fi network name.
    • Input the Wi-Fi network password. The default is the last 8 digits of the IMEI.

 

Reset the SyncUP (OBD2) device

Reset the device when you're transferring it to a new owner to delete any information and reset the settings to default.

On the device
  1. Insert a pin into the Reset hole.
  2. Hold for three seconds or until the LED1 indicator turns red.
On the 4G Mobile HotSpot configuration page
  1. Connect to the SyncUP DRIVE hotspot over Wi-Fi.
  2. Open your browser and go to http://192.168.0.1 .
  3. Log in as Administrator. The default Admin login is: admin
  4. Select Settings > Device Settings.
  5. Select Reset.

 

Network settings

Manual network selection
  1. Connect to the SyncUP DRIVE hotspot over Wi-Fi.
  2. Open your browser and go to http://192.168.0.1 .
  3. Log in as Administrator.
    • The default Admin login is: admin
  4. Select Settings > Network Settings.
  5. In 'Network Selection,' select Automatic or Manual.
  6. Click Apply.
Data roaming
  1. Connect to the SyncUP DRIVE hotspot over Wi-Fi.
  2. Open your browser and go to http://192.168.0.1 .
  3. Log in as Administrator.
    • The default Admin login is: admin
  4. Select Settings > Network Settings.
  5. In 'WAN Connection Mode Settings,' click Check here to connect to internet in the roaming status to enable / disable.
  6. Click Apply.
APN settings
  1. Connect to the SyncUP DRIVE hotspot over Wi-Fi.
  2. Open your browser and go to http://192.168.0.1 .
  3. Log in as Administrator. The default Admin login is: admin
  4. Select Settings > Network Settings.
  5. Select Manual in the APN section.
  6. Select Add New.
  7. Enter the following details:
    • Name
    • Authentication mode
    • Username & Password

 

Firmware version

  1. Connect to the SyncUP DRIVE hotspot over Wi-Fi.
  2. Open your browser and go to http://192.168.0.1.
  3. Log in as Administrator. The default Admin login is admin.
  4. Click Information.
  5. View the firmware version
    • Current version: TMO_US_Z6200V1.0.0B11
    • Previous versions:
      • TMO_US_Z6200V1.0.0B10
      • TMO_US_Z6200V1.0.0B08
  6. There are no steps to request a firmware update. The current version will be pushed to customers between 2/05/18 and 3/12/18.

 

Mobile HotSpot settings

Change Mobile HotSpot password
  1. Connect to the SyncUP DRIVE hotspot over Wi-Fi.
  2. Open your browser and go to http://192.168.0.1 .
  3. Log in as Administrator.
    • The default Admin login is: admin
  4. Select Settings > Device Settings.
  5. In 'Account Management,' follow the steps to enter your new password.
  6. You can also change the password in the The specified item was not found..
Change Wi-Fi Security types
  1. Connect to the SyncUP DRIVE hotspot over Wi-Fi.
  2. Open your browser and go to http://192.168.0.1 .
  3. Log in as Administrator.
    • The default Admin login is: admin
  4. Select Settings > Wi-Fi Settings.
  5. Select Security Mode.
  6. Choose from the following:
    • WPA2-PSK
    • WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK
    • SHARED
    • OPEN
