Customize (keys, name)

Greeting / name tag

To change the greeting or the name tag, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Options icon.
  3. Scroll to and select Display.
  4. Scroll to and select Message on Lock Screen.
  5. If desired, enter a name in the Display Owner Name field.
  6. If desired, enter text in the Display Information field.
  7. Press the Menu key.
  8. Select Save.

 

Program name and number

To program your name and number, follow these steps:

 

Note: This feature is a storage location for your phone numbers. Although you can program your number with the following procedure, your actual T-Mobile phone number is not affected. These settings are programmed in the SIM card and cannot be changed.

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Options icon.
  3. Tap Device.
  4. Scroll to and tap Advanced System Settings.
  5. Tap SIM Card.
  6. Tap the phone number (labeled Msisdn1).
  7. Press the Menu key.
  8. Tap Edit SIM Phone Number.
  9. Place the cursor at the end of the text in the SIM Phone Number field.
  10. Delete the existing text with the del key.
  11. Enter the new phone number.
  12. If desired, tap the Friendly Name field.
  13. Place the cursor at the end of the text.
  14. Delete the existing text with the del key.
  15. Enter the new name.
  16. Tap OK.

 

Shortcut key

To change the function of the shortcut key, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Options icon.
  3. Tap Device.
  4. Tap Convenience Key.
  5. Tap the Convenience Key Opens drop-down menu.
  6. Scroll to and tap the desired application.
  7. Press the Menu key.
  8. Select Save.

Home screen

Add application, shortcut, or folder

You can add shortcuts to give yourself quick access to items such as frequently used websites, contacts, or applications.

 

To add an application, shortcut, or folder to the Home screen, follow these steps:

 

  1. Browse to a Web site, or touch and hold the item you want to create a shortcut for.
  2. Tap Mark as Favorite to add the item to the Favorites panel on the Home screen.
  3. If available, tap Add to Home Screen to add the item to the All panel on the Home screen.

 

Move application, shortcut, or folder

To move an application, shortcut, or folder from the Home screen, follow these steps:

 

  1. On the Home screen or in an application folder, touch and hold an application or folder icon.
  2. To move the application or folder icon to a different location on the Home screen, tap Move. Use the Trackpad to scroll to the new location. Press the Trackpad.
  3. To move the application or folder icon into a folder, tap Move to Folder. Scroll to and select a folder.
  4. To move the application or folder icon out of a folder, tap Move to Folder. Scroll to and select Home or a different folder.

 

Remove application, shortcut, or folder

To remove an application, shortcut, or folder from the Home screen, follow these steps:

 

  1. On the Home screen or in an application folder, touch and hold an application or folder icon.
  2. To delete an empty folder, tap Delete. Tap Delete again.
  3. To delete an application, tap Delete. If prompted, read the warning about deletion and tap Delete again.
  4. To hide an application or folder icon, tap Hide Icon. Tap Hide in all panels or Hide in this panel only. (To unhide a hidden application or folder icon, press the Menu key and select Show All Icons.)
  5. To remove an application, shortcut, or folder from the Favorites panel on the Home screen, tap Unmark as Favorite.

Ringtones

Change ring style

To change the ring type, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Options icon.
  3. Tap Sounds and Ring Tones.
  4. Tap Profile Management.
  5. Scroll to and select one of the following options:
    • All Alerts Off
    • Normal
    • Loud
    • Medium
    • Silent
    • Vibrate Only
    • Phone Calls Only
  6. If desired, edit the profile name or other details.
  7. Press the Menu key.
  8. Select Save.

 

Ringtone – Change

To change the ringtone or melody, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Options icon.
  3. Tap Sounds and Ring Tones.
  4. Tap Phone Ring Tone.
  5. Tap the Ring Tone drop-down menu.
  6. Scroll to and tap the desired tone.
  7. If desired, edit the other settings.
  8. Press the Menu key.
  9. Select Save.
  10. Tap All Profiles or [current profile] Only.

 

Ringtones – Delete

To delete downloaded ringtones, follow these steps:

 

Note: Pre-installed ringtones cannot be deleted.

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to and tap the Applications icon.
  3. Tap the Ring Tones icon.
  4. Tap My Ring Tones.
  5. Scroll to and touch and hold the ringtone you want to delete.
  6. Tap Delete.
  7. Tap Delete again.

 

Ringtones – Download via Device

To download ringtones from the online T-Mobile Mall on your phone, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the T-Mobile Mall icon.
  3. Scroll to and tap Ringtones.
  4. Locate and tap the ringtone you want to purchase.
  5. If desired, tap Preview to listen to the ringtone.
  6. Tap Buy.
  7. View the details and amount of your purchase.
  8. Tap Download to start the download process.
  9. If desired, tap On Media Card and select On Device.
  10. If desired, tap Set as Ring Tone.
  11. Tap Save.
  12. The ringtone will download and show up alphabetically in the list of pre-installed ringtones.

 

Ringtones – Download via Computer

To download ringtones from T-Mobile.com on a computer, follow these steps:

 

On a computer

 

  1. Locate and download the ringtone from T-Mobile.com.

 

On your phone

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Messages icon.
  3. Scroll to and tap the Download now message in your inbox.
  4. Scroll to and tap the link in the message.
  5. Tap Yes to continue to the link page.
  6. Scroll to and select the link.
  7. Tap the Set as Ring Tone check box, if desired.
  8. Tap Save.
    Note: Downloaded ringtones are saved to Applications folder > Ring Tones > My Ring Tones.

Themes / Wallpaper

Screen saver – Set – Not supported

Theme – Set

To change or reset themes for your phone, follow these steps:

Note: You can change the theme only if you have installed a theme in addition to the pre-installed theme.

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Options icon.
  3. Scroll to and select Display.
  4. Scroll to and select Screen Display.
  5. Scroll to Theme.
  6. Press the Menu key.
  7. Scroll to and select Download Themes.
  8. Follow the prompts.
  9. When finished, press the Menu key.
  10. Select Save.

 

Reset

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Options icon.
  3. Scroll to and select Display.
  4. Scroll to and select Screen Display.
  5. Scroll to Theme.
  6. Press the Menu key.
  7. Tap Reset Theme Defaults.
    Note: Folders, fonts, and background image will be reset.
  8. Tap Yes.

 

Wallpaper – Delete

To delete wallpaper images, follow these steps:

 

Note: You cannot delete pre-installed wallpaper images.

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Media icon.
  3. Tap the Pictures icon.
  4. Navigate to the wallpaper image you want to delete.
  5. Press the Menu key.
  6. Scroll to and tap Delete.
  7. Tap Delete again.

 

Wallpaper or theme – Download via Device

To download wallpaper or theme apps from BlackBerry App World on your phone, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the BlackBerry App World icon.
  3. Tap Search App World.
  4. Enter “wallpaper” or “theme” in the search field.
  5. Press the Trackpad.
  6. Locate and tap the wallpaper or theme app you want to download.
  7. If the app is free, tap Download.
  8. Tap OK.

 

OR

 

  1. If the app must be purchased, tap the purchase price button.
  2. If prompted, enter your BlackBerry ID password and tap OK.
  3. Select one of the following payment options:
    • Bill through T-Mobile US
    • Credit Card
    • PayPal
  4. Tap Next.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your purchase.
  6. When the download is complete, the app will appear alphabetically with your other applications.

 

Wallpaper – Download via Computer

To download wallpaper from T-Mobile.com on a computer, follow these steps:

 

On a computer

 

  1. Locate and download the wallpaper from T-Mobile.com.

 

On your phone

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Messages icon.
  3. Scroll to and tap the Download now message in your inbox.
  4. Scroll to and tap the link in the message.
  5. Select Open Link.
  6. Scroll to and select the link.
  7. Scroll to and select the Set as Wallpaper check box.
  8. Scroll to and select Save.
    Note: The device saves the wallpaper to Media > Pictures > My Pictures.

 

Wallpaper – Set

To change the wallpaper image that displays on the background of the display screen, follow these steps:

 

  1. If necessary, touch the bottom of the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Option icon.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Tap Home Screen Preferences.
  5. Tap Change Wallpaper.
  6. Navigate to and select the image you want to set as your wallpaper.
  7. Press the Menu key.
  8. Tap Set As Wallpaper.
